So, I'm back here at TWHL again. I've been working at a local college as an assistant at the music programme they have there. Now I'm working as a "central-antenna technician" at a local firm.

This means that for once I actually have some money to spend. I've bought a new hd-tv, 4gb more ram memory, a new 2tb harddrive, a new external soundcard so I can record my guitar at home, and a few games on steam. Life is good!

Lucky, I'm still running on a shitty amount of 1 GB RAM.

I think the default nowadays is 4 GB. I had 1GB in 2007, 2 GB in 2008 and 4Gb since 2009. :D

Thanks guys :)

I'm running 8gb now, mostly because I can. I agree that 4gb is perfectly adequate for gaming.

@Joebama. Ouch, you could use an upgrade :s If you lived in Sweden I could have sent you my old 2gb corsair memory. It's just laying around anyways

4GB RAM is in mine, to go with a 3.0ghz quad core and a 5750. It's plenty, seems to be a perfect starting point for gaming computers. I don't see needing to upgrade to 8 for while.

I'd like to get another 2GB so there's a gig for each core.

Welcome back... again?

Both of my computers have eight GB. I believe 8 GB is standard nowadays, if you look at the typical custom built gaming rigs they sell in the market.

Not that I think 8 GB is really necessary for gaming.

And financial independence is really quite empowering. Just wait until you make a lot more money. One day, you can buy yourself a sports car whenever you feel like it.

8gb is by no means standard, that's towards the higher end of the range.

It would perhaps be 'common', but not by any means standard.
