Well, it seems like valve is in the process of breaking another of its games again in this case HL.
My servers have started complaining about that they need an update. So i gave it to them via hldsupdatetool and nothing got updated.
From a little poking around the interwebs i found that this should be related to this breaking of HL that is going on and i found that you should use SteamCMD for server updating.

So the question is should i use this new tool ? I really don't want to break my servers and do them all over again.

Steam Pipe my ass.

you forgot to mention all the old mods of HL that are screwed up

This is that HL2 HDR screwup all over again.

I think valve is screwing over the fans in exchange for expanding its own market. They are trying to force convert all the games to be working on macs and penguins. What's worse, there are plans to make some kind of movie or something because the valve really wants to expand their market

They can do whatever they want with the movie, leave the damn games alone there is no point upgrading 12 year old software, people who play hl like how shitty it looks and don't need a graphics update imo.

thats the problem, they dont CARE about the people currently playing hl, remember that forced HD pack? THey want to appeal to the new potential users from mac and penguin, and have totally ignored the players who are already playing

I love how you guys complain about this and the other recent changes without having written anyone in Valve about it. They screw up so rarely compared to other publishers/devs - the least you can do is be constructive and provide some feedback. Rally others and let Valve know you're all pissed instead of bitching about it amongst yourselves in these book club meetings.
