Opened my 3rd year exam results; turns out I haven't achieved enough to continue on with my course. I can still get an ordinary degree by passing the resits in august.

Only hope now is that I can partially transfer to informatics (comp sci) and attempt to get a honours degree with them given half of my computational physics course so far has been... comp sci.

Not great news to hear. Family is supportive though.

Don't you get to try again?

Not when it's junior honours unfortunately

I'm sorry it didn't work out as planned bro, but new avenues (such as transferring, as you said) can always give you new insights into things you haven't considered before too perhaps?

Sorry to hear it, and good luck.

Sorry to hear man, these things are tough to deal with.

On the bright side, this is a good (albeit tough) opportunity to re-think where you want to end up career-wise. Your struggles show that the field might not have been something you would've enjoyed working in after all. Adjusting your course in life now might save you from years of unfulfilling work in the long term.

If you're considering a career in gamedev and need help/feedback on your CV or portfolio, give me a shout.

I'm sorry to hear that, I wish you good luck with your "backup" plan.

Thanks guys. Think I'm going to focus more on high performance computing and parallelism (if I'm able to, that was the plan before I fucked up ) - game dev is definitely a hobby and judging from what I've heard, is nightmarish to make a career out of - the thought is appreciated anyhow daub.

That must be very disapointing...
In my case I've got the lowest possible passable grade for the coursework of my modules this year. It's very disappointing considering the fact I was expecting much more and worked so hard on it. Now I get to see fourth years celebrating their first on facebook when I know it will now be impossible for me to get one...
I really hope that you'll succeed with your new plan, whatever it is. I have the same opinion on the game industry. I'm pretty sure I'd hate to work there. However, gamedev as a hobby is great.

That blows, mate. Hope it works out!
