The sequel to my surprisingly popular (judging by all the email I got) Day 13, is finally finished. I am so sick of Hammer now, that I have banned myself from loading it again for at least a month.

The download is 42mb.

Please read the text files included in the download before playing, because it won't all fit here.

Enjoy.

Hehe I heard about the PCGamer thing. But I didn't send them it!

And if you ask me, this one is muuuuuch better. Although some people may find the main puzzle frustrating.

(muhahaha)

Wow. I must say i am VERY impressed.

I cant be bothered writing a full-blown review so i'll just state some key pluses and minuses.

+ The overall atmosphere was great. The mapping and dust particles, set along with great lighting made sure of that.

+ It managed to keep me entertained for almost a whole hour. That's a good thing.

+ The puzzle in the second map is frustrating but fun. I had pretty much figured out the whole of the second part of the puzzle before i finally figured out how to get at the gravity gun.
(out of interest, is there an order in which you have to put the tiles in the baskets? i tried U IV VII II B and then just put a random one in the last one for 'empty' and it worked)

+ You got voice actors

+ The strider movement was excellent. "Oh thank god, im safe here" Then it sticks its fucking great big gun in through the roof :P

+ Are so many enemies good for Gordon's health? Our survey says - No

- the voices were FAR too quiet. I could barely hear a word the woman was saying.

- FUCKING. HEADCRABS :P

- Lack of ambience.

+/- The mapping wasn't very good in some places, but great in others.

+/- The texturing was the same as the mapping

Overall :

Definately worthy of 5 stars. G-man's manic laugh made sure of that :)
I shall alert PCGamer immediately

Ok so after having to re-download after the server rest I managed to play it...

Now I found it very impressive mainly because of the architecture and clever ideas for puzzles.

It took me 10 minutes to spot that silly hole for the grav gun...:P
I spent 15 minutes trying to figure out that main puzzle and I just gave up due to lack of time (Have to go soon) and well it is HARD :D Especially for one with low IQ...

Ok so first map was clever with the camera...Annoying thing was ragdolls got in the way.

Second map, you are blocked off but an ugly wall :P That bothered me slightly...Erm the woman was cleverly done as she follows and say's things...Anyway I found your secret Day 14 made by texture.

Ok so after skipping the main puzzle I probably skipped some good stuff..oh well...

Third map was pretty cool but buggy - ish aka some enemies all crowded together and got stuck. Some enemies spawned on top of me..:P
Erm Strider I have no idea what you did but suddenly it spassed and went super crazy...It like ran as fast a a fast headcrab and chased me :|

Apart from that cleverly done, good and challenging puzzles, I love that weird poking out thing in the second map with the custom spiral texture.

Good action although a bit too hard for me...I rate thee 5 stars because the mapping was excellent and the puzzle pwned me so :P

:D

:D

and again

:D

Thanks for the reviews .... Kasperg I'm sure the file problem was just something to do with this just being posted, and a lot of people downloading it from the same place at once. It's on other forums with the same link...so....maybe if you try it a bit later you'll get the file OK.

Oh, and Hunter ... yes there is an order to the tiles. It's got something to do with the phrase printed on some plaques around the place, and the "guide" woman keeps saying it at points too......

Thats as much as I'm giving away though. :P

You force Heaven to be empty...Hmm is the answer something to do with the Bible cause i'm not religious...

Perhaps the numerals can be changed to letters in the mind? Gah I am soooooo used to just blasting crap...All this thinking makes me hungry.

Haha, I will say, there is no religious connection whatsoever :P

This Map is GREAT! Weather your a battle hungry gamer or a skilled tactition Day14 will provide challenge. If you expect to complete this map in a reasonable time you'd better get your thinkin socks on! The Architecture is STUNNING! STUNNING! STUNNING! This is quite possibly one of the best made maps I have ever seen! More peeps should exploit the Half Life 2 engine to make interesting mini maps for us to play. Well done Playbus! hats off te ya lad...

so i was right with my theory playbus, that it was to do with making the tiles sound like the words.. incorperating chat language and roman numerals?

There are a lot of clues, but if you're still stuck read this thread very carefully. Someone has already given most of it away

hmm.. I'm a little curious as to how this mini-series is 10mb larger than a HL1 mod which took 4 years to complete

The voice acting and numerous large custom textures, mainly.
