This is a medium size map with a lab/xen theme. There are several funny features in Gosu like a transporter which beams you into the xen world where you can find a dead HEV suit guy with the taucannon or a bathroom where a scientist is sitting on the toilet and telling you a funny sentence when you come near. Another cool part of the map is the included alien environment inside the lab where the gman whatches the behaviour of an alien (there are some monsters included which dont attack you). The map just looks great - there are cool light effects and architecture plus some cool chargers.
Most of the map is lab-like although in a new, cool style and there's the alien environment and the platform jumping xen world. The connectvity is alright, there is always a third way you can choose and there are no dead-ends. The map plays very well, the item placement is well done with no parts of the map where it wouldnt make sense going into. The gauss is harder to get then the other weapons, cause you need to jump over some platforms with low gravity and there's only one way out of the xen world. There are all weapons, but you cannot reach the glueon which is outside the lab and you can see it from inside. Gosu contains a lot of cool sounds like a lab speaker sound that says: "No you will not escape!". The r_speeds are always under 500 which is amazing if you consider the great look of the map.

main points of the map:
  • lab- and xen-theme
  • consists of different types of labs and 2 xen parts
  • 4-8 players recommended
  • balanced gameplay, medium map size
  • no glueon available, mostly type 3 weapons
hints:
  • to get the gauss jump into the teleporter near the healthcharger and jump from platform to platform until you got it - then jump into the next teleporter
  • There is a nuke point at the bathroom "the mirror"
  • near the big elevator (where one crossbow is) is a vent. it leads to the alien environment and there are AR grenades in it
  • there is gauss ammo down at the heavy machinery. Get it when you already have the gauss, then jump out with the gauss jump again. you can also try to jump across the machine to get another gaussclip, but that's very hard you better use the gaussjump to get the other gaussclip, too.

Really liked architecture, that was the best. Lighting was also good and interesting, I say. Nice mix of the two themes, I rarely see more themes in one map. Nice sounds, "you may not escape" lol. What I didn't like are the xen parts, there is much more available in xen mapping (I know as I once made one, and it wasn't really good even though I worked on it for long hours). But it definately looks like it needed a lot of time, so this is a four-star one from me.

Excellent DM!

I really liked the use of sound, npcs--bathroom lol--, and lighting was nice.

Architecture and detail was very good in general. I really liked the layout and the original HEV and Medkits!

Finally, very nice use of the original textures :)

No errors or big ideas for improvement strike me... looking forward to seeing more of your maps!

Very nice map. Architecture flows very smoothly, nice use of ambience, lighting is very good. The alien teleport could lead to some interesting gameplay.

Just one minor gripe: those two beds seem very out of place amongst all the lab equipment, as does the bathroom, which serves no real purpose (lol, by the way).

Still, nice work. 4.5 rounded up.

Great Work. I love lab/xen map themes. That xen space was amazing and the MedKit too. I only didn't like that rotating cylinder at the hazardous machinery room. 5 stars.

Well, I guess it's me, but I didn't all found it that impressive.
Nice solid DM map, but imho it was slightly lacking.

I simply found the texturing awfull, it isn't because I dislike the half-life textures but I just didn't found it matching. In the xen area I could just get into a vent true a door hidden in the wall.. I guess it's nice for gameplay but meh..

3 stars.
