Making a spiral staircase is easy. Making a spiral ramp, not so much. This example map gives you step by step instructions on how to make a spiral ramp utilizing vertex manipulation.

The arch this example map uses is 24 sided and 8 units apart. Manipulation is easiest in 3D mode and a 1 unit grid.
No bsp because I'm busy. Throw it in a box if you want to see it ingame.

I found this cleaning my map archive, and i have to say i'm just as impressed now as i was the first time i saw it. 'tis one of the prettier things in terms of brushwork i've ever seen built in hammer. One of the really neat things too, is the simplicity/elegance in which you're able to pull of a very smooth, pretty result, and with also a bare minimum pf brushes.

The step-by-step stages of building the staircase is also very nice. the only thing that could make this better is to make a small little demonstration map for it....

Superb stuff! = )

(standby 'till next year's annual review, lol!)
