Simple example of the triangle method of doing floors and hills for half life.

This example is for user 12114.

This is a piece of an old map so I am unsure of the textures. Re-texture!

Included is a updated .vmf version, also simple, but uses updated textures.

Ultimately, use displacement surfaces for half-life 2.

Triangle method is more for goldsource stuff, and a displacment is a mesh plane that's smoothed, so to speak.

also, its hard to texture terrain done this way correctly. setup the texturing when it is still flat THEN deform it, or you'll learn it the hardway.

The example provided is not mine and was part of a very old map. I don't use the triangle method very much myself. I think I have one map that uses it. I would much rather use displacements myself.

This is why I don't map for half-life 1 anymore. I admit that steam is a major pain but it is far better for me to use the half-life 2 (source) than gold source or half life 1.

So why did you even upload this?

Downloaded, and made hammer crash: Oops! SerializeRMF() v2.2 tried to load a file v3.7. Aborting. No, It really says "oops"

☝️ same. Looks like the RMF is either broken or maybe meant to be opened with Hammer for Source? I can't get my Source SDK to work so I can't test
