But was it your biggest proud?

I've never been to a pride festival. I like the idea of the LGBT-event part, but not so much the heaps-of-people part. Maybe I'll get over the latter someday ><

Alright, an SSD sounds pretty good. Here's a tangential question: What part should you upgrade to make a computer run better while recording? Is that a disk, CPU, GPU or RAM thing?

Hmmmmm... Would I be correct in asserting that that would have little performance impact in the actual operation of programs, as opposed to booting, opening, saving, etc.? I'm not sure that's where my priorities lie.

(I mean, ideally, I'd like to replace and improve just about everything, but my funds are... quite limited these days.)

I've never really considered it. What does an SSD offer me?

A quick google of "what is my motherboard" gave me the information I needed to figure out what I got. Added it to that list.

Motherboard basically just reigns all the other components together and provides the ports you need, right? What circumstances would require upgrading the motherboard (apart from new, incompatible components)?

I use Facebook because the people I know and care about also use it and thus it is a convenient way of communicating with them. I have no strong feelings either way about it.

Also, NineTnine, my Facebook friends list is a highly curated environment, as is any list of people I associate with on any platform, including Steam. Your removal was not due to any personal matter, but was simply part of a cleansing of those I do not (or, in some other cases, do not wish to) regularly communicate with. If you wish to get in touch, I am available via PM or ShoutBOX here at TWHL. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Nobody comes back in these old journals anymore. This makes me sad. Even this one, the one everyone comes to, is looking a little decrepit.

No, no, the gravity is already triggered. I tried to demonstrate that by jumping outside of the elevator a few times in the video. Changes to low when you move into it, and changes it back when you leave it.

Thanks, Windawz, for the CLIPHULL idea. You have to specifically do a crouch jump to get up to another platform, but that's a small price to pay for this idea to work at all =P

Huh. Interesting. I've never tinkered with the various ZHLT textures beyond the usual ones. Something like that may be useful... Indeed, it's more or less the exact sort of thing I was after for moving downwards. I'll have to do some tests to see if I can adapt it to my particular map.

Maybe I should do some experiments with the rest.

I had one puff from a cigarette about four years ago. It was as bad and unsatisfying as I imagined. Smoking is such a weird, artificial thing. Is there ever any kind of instant appeal to someone who hasn't smoked before? I feel like it's one of those things that no-one would ever be compelled to get into if there weren't other people around them already doing it. (Like religion.) And I've certainly never thought that was a good way to base life decisions.

"If you have a girlfriend (or boyfriend) that has a strict zero policy on alcohol, cigarettes and vaping, don't do any of these under his (her) back. Trust me, you would be amazed how much damage to the person you love for years."
Seems like that should be obvious, but I guess addiction is a wicked mistress.
Commented 7 years ago2017-04-14 06:36:10 UTC in journal: #8796 Comment #66220
I have more or less never seen nor heard of vaping at all in the non-internet world. I don't know if it's just not a thing around here or what.

I dunno. It all seems silly to me. Every kind of drug, licit or not. I don't know how or why anyone gets into them. Perhaps I'm just lucky enough to be able to view it from a impartial stance. None of the people I associate with smokes, drinks particularly regularly and/or heavily, or does anything else. Maybe some regular coffee/coke drinkers, but that's about it.

It's possible all that just means I'm the least qualified person to discuss this.

Y'know, I've never really had much care to travel, but I think France would be a contender. The other contenders are Canada and Japan.

I mean, I hold no real sentimentality for Australia, so I guess those are also contenders for "countries that might be nice to move to someday". (Weeell... maybe not Japan.)

Huh, I didn't know that. Is it just the question/exclaimation marks? I've seen them with a space before, but I didn't think anything of it.

Alright, here's the translations just from what I can recognize/[assume].
  • Have you sent your report to the administrator [today]?
  • Urby and Archie are the developers of The Core. [When can we play it?] (I don't understand the structure of the last sentence, though I recognize most of the words.)
  • My god! Gordon is [still?] late for the [experiment?]. The administrator [still... something].
  • TWHL has interesting [something] and therefore talented [people?]
  • What is the French time for Tetsu0's [streams?], please?
(I submit for your consideration, "Pingouingarçon", "Chasseur", and, uh... "Urbainébuleuse". Also, FOURMI M'AIME!)

Nice. Could do a hell of a lot worse than The bloody Who!

The only performance I've been to was a Journey/Deep Purple one (which I probably wrote a journal about ages ago). It was great, but I think it made me realise I don't hugely care for the format of live shows. That said, I've narrowed the list of bands I still would leap at the chance to see live down to two: Rush, and Electric Light Orchestra.

The map looks really nice! I appreciate the way you used solid colour. Main beef is those turrets seem really finnicky. Maybe expand those tankcontrols to be a little more generous. (I mean, they also only shot out of one of their two barrels, but I get that one.) Also, one of the teleport tubes seemed to deposit one not-right next to another tube. I assume that's unintentional given all the others do.

Updated to 1.0.3.
  • Fixed sprite on antenna to flash. Was set up to do so, but was never triggered.
  • Upscaled rock textures in bulk of map.
  • Increased Max Viewable Distance slightly, should no longer be a problem at longest distances.
  • Made the "Turbine Control" button control the lights on that structure for no reason. Also renamed said button.
  • Tweaked spawn and item placement.

Revision one uploaded.

Revision two will include:
  • Realignment of some badly stretched textures
  • Re-place the other longjump module, because apparently that's not there anymore
  • Fix clipping error to the right of smaller tent that causes you to fall out of the level
Commented 7 years ago2017-03-02 02:09:18 UTC in vault item: dm_hydroelectric Comment #18439
Note that I've encountered some weird clipping issues in the past in unassuming locations on the terrain, where you'll just move into the floor for no reason. I've fixed the ones I've found, but let me know if you bump into any more.

Revision one will include:
  • Fix the rather bad clipping issue between dam and first tent
  • Add ichthyosaur, because Zeeba told me to (won't show up unless mp_allowmonsters is set to 1)
  • Move blocked spawn near rock overpass
  • Add a trim to glass on underwater tunnels
