I once spent an afternoon typing in random journal numbers and then commenting on them. I don't think I'll ever find any of them again, but if anyone does in the future it will be interesting for them hopefully.

Everyone in my family says I should cut my hair. I am beginning to agree, I have to wear a hat while shaving to keep the hair out of the way to make sure I don't accidentally give myself a haircut.

I once left a club and woke up in my bed in the university accommodation the next morning, the money in my wallet being the same amount that was there when I left the club. To walk that distance would take at least 75 minutes, and that's if I knew where I was going, which I did not. I once walked from the university to the city centre completely sober and it took me 150 minutes. I also had no idea which part of the city the club was in, so if I stepped out of the door I wouldn't have any way of taking my bearings.
Considering the signposting here isn't great, and that it was dark and I would have been too drunk to read any of them anyway, and also considering that no taxi driver in the country would let me ride for free, I have absolutely no idea how I ended up back in my bed.

Drunk nights are weird, but it sounds like yours was a lot more interesting than mine.
In both cases I will assume it was aliens.

I bought that game without looking at the Steam page because I mixed the name up with FTL: Faster Than Light.
I wouldn't consider it a game so much as an interactive story, but I will say that it was the best mistake I ever made.
That image pretty much summed up my reaction to it.

Jelly as fuark.

While I've been building up my collection of tools over the past few years, as of yet I don't have the room or money for any larger tools like a drill press.
I'm considering building a shed by the house, but power supply would be an issue.

So anyway, what would happen if you tried to cut a material that was too thick? If all it would do is cut part-way through without damaging anything, would it be possible to do multiple passes to vary the depth and cut out a 3D shape?

In retrospect, I should have given that image a transparent background rather than a base colour, as I've now just noticed that the colour alternates between that one and a slightly darker one.

Anyway, Happy Birthday!

I remember once I had an opportunity to use a vasectomy tool on a piece of meat. It was like a tiny contact lightsaber, it cut and cauterized at the same time.

So how did it go?

I don't know what to think about Google acquiring Boston Dynamics. Ignoring any ethical considerations (positive or negative) of having military robots, I've always liked the company for their innovation and furthering of robotics. Google is a very famous innovator, so that is a plus, but then again DARPA is known for funding really ridiculous things sometimes, which was good for innovation. I'm not sure which company would be a better company in that regard.

I'm just hoping really that I can get an Asimov style robot butler before I die of old age, and Boston Dynamics seemed like it was one of the best companies in that regard. Robots were beginning to look much more realistic than flying cars and jetpacks.

My brother once installed Windows 8. His experiences were much the same as yours. He had reinstalled Windows 7 by the end of the week, sans all of his files because he didn't realise that he had to back them up before changing the OS.

I've watched up to the end of season 3, and I have to wait until the end of exams to let myself watch any further.
Avoiding spoilers has been problematic.

It's not very merry for me. Mine hasn't arrived in the post yet, so I've still only got 26 Urbies.

(And I think one of them is an obsolete model, it's labelled 'Urbanebula')

I was intending to actually enter a competition for once, but then this last week was the busiest week I've had in years. Somehow I don't think I'm going to get my entry done in the next two hours and fifteen minutes.

There's always the next one.

I can finally enter these discussions, as my dad just gave me his old iPhone when he got a new one.
Or at least I can when I get a sim card that fits it.
At least I won't have to carry around a phone and an iPod.

I do look forward to being able to check my emails whenever, instead of when I happen to pass through a WiFi area.

I similarly dismissed the whole apps thing before I got an iPod, but I have to say they can come in handy. For example, I have a converter app and a graphing calculator app that I make use of quite a lot.

I wouldn't say it's a normal case, they mentioned I was one of three students who were getting one, so it must have been a combination of luck, and the fact that two hours in labs per week isn't really enough for us to do the coursework so I was in a bit of a pickle.

The BF4 commander mode seems to be about what I was thinking of, although I'll have to watch the video of it again later with sound to be sure.

I hadn't heard of those other games, I'll have to take a better look at them later.

I've always wanted to play a game where it was a slow paced FPS across a large scale map, with large teams, and one player on each team was the commander and had an RTS like playing style and viewpoint. It's a pity such a thing would probably never work in reality.
