Thanks for the review, Arch!

And you're totally right on the theme thing. Literally, the factory half of the map was the last part I did, it was a decision I made near the end of development because I didn't want the whole thing to feel samey.

If I ever need a place to look and be thoroughly embarrassed by my actions, it's likely here.

I dunno, sounds kinda like a glorified scavenger hunt, really.

Though, I just got an idea for a map where you're chasing after a headcrab with a crowbar, and the headcrab jumps away wherever you find it, and you have to solve puzzles to progress towards it...

Hmm... give me a moment.

I realize it's unfinished, but this map really does have some major flaws other than the texture use and other problems you've talked about.

The levels are really, really dark. All of the lighting is from the red emergency lights with no contrast, and they leave the levels looking completely dark.

When I got to the armory, I heard the comm system tell me that I needed to get some guns and get some armor, but I couldn't find any armor. I had no idea where the suit was, if there was one in the first place, even, and I would assume I didn't find it because of how incredibly dark the map was. The map shouldn't have let me continue on without first picking up the suit.

And I had just picked up grenades, too, so I basically had to use all of them before I could get to using a gun. This led to a very unpleasant adventure through the deck, because without a suit, gunshots do way more impact on your screen and cover it with blood. This mixed with the dark environments made most of my game look like this.

I couldn't play this on hard mode, I had to lower my difficulty down to medium because I couldn't make it past the halls after the tram ride.

Though the gravity is really cool, and I like the premise of being on the Combine's side fighting the rebels. I'll be waiting for the remake!

There's a survival stealth game about being a badger out there. It's called Shelter.

It's pretty close. You try and keep your family alive by feeding them, hunt smaller animals, and survive from predators.

The center area needs a lot of work. And the towers don't have much purpose unless you've trecked from the middle of the map just to bring the crossbow.

I like how you can crouch behind every railing for cover.

The Core oughta have its own multiplayer maps, and you can host the TWHL server on it!

Because The Core is obviously gonna have hundreds and hundreds of people playing it, what with all the hype it's getting--I'm pretty sure that more than just the TWHL community would play a round or two on it.

At one point, the room was gassed and two metrocops were thrown in to deal with me. I managed to swerve past them into the room ahead, but the room ahead was blocked by an invisible wall and did nothing but impede my progress. But when I entered it, the metrocops disappeared.

And then nothing was happening. I had no choice but to type "kill" in the console, and I respawned about 20 minutes back before the ENTIRE turret-managing section I had just passed.

Difficult map. Kind of unfair with the walkway being instant death even though the deadly gas doesn't entirely touch it in crouching distance.

Same for the instant death from the gas at the pipe.

I like the song. It fits with the snow and gives the map a nice atmospheric feel to it. You could probably improve on this map and update it, and perfect it, man. Don't just quit with this--it still has plenty of potential.

Also, I played it with Oculus. It was scary having to jump over that wood fence and dodging that tree.
