Well... not so much a nice prop to complete the room, more like a place to throw my dirty socks, but it makes sense!

Luke: I did? Damn, that wasn't supposed to happen.

Bruce: no modern engine can do that. None.

That is the type of particle physics that needs top of the line video cards in SLI just to handle the calculations, and even then you could never build a game on top of it.

Your argument makes no sense.

Oh man, I've had this before, too. Putting up with a blocked ear for days on end can drive you mad, and what's left after the clean up is... disgusting to say the least.

The feeling of relief afterwards, though!

I hope you're not proud of that joke, Soup.

Last night I dreamed I was fending off a canal full of man-eating sharks with a chainsaw tied to a shopping cart. I'm pretty sure the dream started with me just peacefully exploring some abandoned block.

Yeah, I don't really know what's wrong with my psyche at the moment.

80 hours each for Alien Swarm, Portal 2 and Counter-Strike Source, but it's mostly from mapping for them.

For games I just play, Mass Effect 2 has 120 hours (and I'm only nearing the end of my second go!) Deus Ex 1 has 50 hours since installing in late last year, STALKER has 60, Half-Life 2 has 174 and Episode Two has 165.

When did that happen.

If it tracked non-Steam games in your list, I think my highest would be Darkloader, the custom mission manager for Thief 1 and 2. So many great fan missions.

I love a good horror game, but there's really not many of them. Mostly it's cheap scares, lots of gore and LOUD NOISES. I enjoy action-splatter games like Dead Space and the last few Resi Evils a lot, but they're not scary.

More devs should look at Silent Hill 2 & 4, Penumbra (Black Plague mostly), Amnesia, Dark Corners of the Earth, the underground sections of STALKER, even The Path. Psychological horror is so much more classy. For a game (or film) to really get into your head and make you question your own senses... hard to pull off, but brilliant stuff.

You should do the rum buddy routine with Amnesia: The Dark Descent. That sounds like fun.

Ah, I played this quite a while ago.

Didn't think much of it, for reasons most people have already said above. There is one good psychological scare in the game involving some mannequins, but even then it's basically stolen from Condemned.

Still waiting on the next great horror game. ;<

Our lazy local government didn't even bother with the usual fireworks display, small as it may be in this little city. Ironically, that makes us seem more Australian.

We just couldn't be fucked, go figure.

I enjoyed playing this. I love open-ended level design and 357 sniping! It reminded me of Deus Ex a tiny, tiny bit. Your only goal is disrupting the power, there's 3 generators you can hit, and how you get there is up to you. I'd love to see more maps run with this idea and go more in-depth.

It was very, very hard to choose between this and Ninja Defuse's entry. Ninja defuses entry only just edged this out because I think he managed to make something arty and unique with a texture pack that I didn't think was suitable. If there was a fourth place you definitely would've had a spot.

Oh, and the decals thing didn't matter, I wouldn't disqualify an entry for that. One of the requirements was actual gameplay but less than half of the entries actually had it, so we ended up ignoring that rule too.

That's crazy Archie, I couldn't imagine actually being picked up by winds.

The only bad experience I've had with strong wind is on my way to a beach nearly 10 years ago (!). I was carrying a boogie board in front of me and turned the corner of a steep hill that turned out to be acting as a kind of wind break. Board instantly met face. :<

When you get the ai_relationship working again, map a "revival station" and put Hedy in there. Couple of fancy lights and particles later and he/she's good as new!

Looks like pretty typical shock horror. Enjoyable enough, I suppose, but give me more psychological stuff. Detachment. Vulnerability. Sanity. Fear of the unknown, not fear of the giant monster-thingy splattering everything it finds. Blood and guts is cheap.

Silent Hill 2, Eternal Darkness, Amnesia, The Shining, Lovecraft, Poe...

Dammit, I think about this too much. I'll play it. I love the genre too much not to.

People are already talking like that about Source.

I enjoyed Blue-Shift. Sure it was short, and there wasn't a lot of new content, but it has the most polished mapping of the three games.

I got it in a double pack with Opposing Force and the HD update a long time ago, can't complain about the price really.

The only gun I was ever short on ammo for was whatever heavy weapon I had on me at the time, and that was kinda the point. Those guns are all badass killing machines. Collector's Beam especially.

I'm hopeful EA and Valve will work something out for ME3 and future games. I don't think BF3 sales and feedback will be as impressive as expected because of this bullshit. It might make them rethink their approach, or they'll just continue be their same old stupid selves and push more people towards pirating the poor developer's hard work.

To be fair to Foster, Quantum of Solace was reasonably well directed. The scriptwriters are the ones who pooched it. But I say reasonably because of those shaky cam fight scenes.

I laughed at the guy in front of Archie in the second shot. Priceless expression.
