The debate about computer games affecting children goes on - groups are claiming that playing any action game makes you a maniac killer instantly.
Those aged eight years or below do in the short-term re-enact or copy what they see on the screenProfessor Mark Griffiths, Nottingham Trent University
I think this is complete bullshit.
Even though some children are small and some annoyingly stupid, they can divert Game from Reality.

Some may be affected and indeed, kill people cause "I did it in GTA!", but they are most likely to have some kind of mental disorder.
I've played action games since I was six year old, an I (Almost) never want to kill people.

Here, in Sweden, lots of documentaries have been made concerning this issue - the most recent one was only about Postal 2(quite possibly the worst game in the world) and turned a blind eye to those, newthinking, developing and educational games that we all love.

Sure, Half-Life mightnot be the most un-bloody and peacefull game in the world, but this statement is false:
There's no room in a video game for anything other than killing your opponent
Peter Kendall, psychologist
A game(most games) is so much more - puzzles, an interactive enviroment, a plot that involves etcetra.

People who believe that you actually go crazy might aswell be ranting about the news showing terrorists being blown to pieces, starving children being shot at and hospitals being bombed back to the stoneage.
Not that I think you're affected by this - once again, you separate reality from virtuality and even though the news are real they are, hopefully, hundreds of miles away - You care less.

in What is kill_target? Post #51339
For instance, if you make something killtarget a func_ladder, itll not be climbable anymore, simply cause its not there. pretty usefull in some situations.

Token too large
"Token too large"
This can refer to several different errors:
The "too many wads" as mentioned above. 8 wads in WC/Hammer is a good limit, more may cause this error among others. If you are using more than 8 wads you can use Wally to combine the extra wads into one custom wad.

Too long a path/name for the map or compiling tools. Only a limited amount of memory is set aside for the path/names. Solution is to move the compiling tools or map into a shallow folder.

Having a space in a path/name. Examples: frequently Program Files is part of the path name. Compiling tools do not like the space between "program" and "files". Solutions are to either use the MSDOS pathname, or to move the offending files from under the spaced folder, or put quotes " " around the whole path name in WC/Hammer so that windows uses it right. If your map has the space in its name (eg. Bob map), remove the space and change it to (Bobmap).

Im not really an expert but you could drop resolution/quality for file size - alternatively, split it into 2 400mb files and burn them seperatly.

in ladders that move Post #51011
Well, that's wrong.

An brush cant be two entities at once, so technically a moving ladder is impossible...
However, it might be possible to make a func_ladder brush "activated", using killtarget - im not sure though.

in Survey: how you browse maps Post #48275
1. What version of HL do you have? [I have 1.1.0.4]
1.1.1.0 for WON, latest for steam.

2. How do you load a map in HL, CS or TFC and browse it? Specifically, do you use Multiplayer/Lan Game/Create Game or another method?
Console -> map -> mapname

3. Do you use 'noclip' or 'fly' to look around the map?
if its a big map, or if I need to take screenies, yes.
