Meh, I still think it'd look better with the lighting being a bit brighter.

This area won't even be accessible by players, so detail doesn't matter too much. I still gotta fix up the texturing though. Everything is bloody misaligned... and this is why I hate angles. ;)

I'm sorry guys, but I'm not sure if I'll be participating in the next compo, after I've been brought down to the lowest with my entry.
Wow, that came across as seriously fucking arrogant to me. 'I put so much work into mine' - And the others didn't? Do you realise how much fucking VM is in my god damned map? Enough to drive people crazy. 'and all I get was a non-unique map.. like, whats unique?.. The SETTING!' - Well, have you ever seen a damn tropical island in the HL1 engine? Have you? No, didn't think so. In other words - it is unique! As far as I'm concerned, attempting something which hasn't been done before (and pulling it off, mind you) means it's unique. Get it? Something not done before = unique.

And if you really do think yours was the best, then get over it. Everyone has their own opinions, and this was the opinions of the judges.

So - if you are disappointed and ashamed of the TWHL community (dunno why though, makes no sense to be - you should be ashamed and disappointed with the judges... actually, I'm thinking you should be disappointed and ashamed at your idiotic and arrogant attitude), then you can, quite frankly, go and fuck yourself.

your compos really suck! if you ever had an hl2 compo you would see groundbeaking things and mind blowing environments! hl1 compared to hl2 is like comparing a 1920's lawnmower to a 2005 saleen. its just not the same. i guess when you guys are ready for change you will make a new compo, and come into the 21st century.
And you, Sir, are an idiot.

Maybe if you could read, you wouldn't have bothered posting a map which the rules clearly state would be disqualified.

The idea of a Source compo is being discussed, I've been told, now stop acting like a jerk just because you can't read.

(also note that your avatar is stupid, and really not funny)

I thought the map was amatuer. The only good area was Addicted to Morphine's, and I don't mind mine too much either.

Screen crit up here. It may seem a bit harsh, but I think it's just truthful :P.

What makes a CS map good? Simple. Objective based map (not fy or aim or anything) with a good layout, good balance, and, as Ant said, room to move. I can't think of anything worse than being stuck in a tight corridor. Office pulls it off nicely, making corridors which you still have room to move in.

Can't wait to see the final product. I'm worried my area might look crap though, since the players either enter through Rabid's or CJ's areas. They'd be like 'Woah, this is 1337' when walking through Rabid's or CJ's areas, and then come to mine and be like... 'Damn, Rabid and CJ pwn Trapt.' Hehe... this doesn't really bother me. Just Rabid and CJ are damn 1337. ;)

Dr. Glass, I'm having trouble working in the Gateways. They seem to be up quite high, and are unrealistically huge. I suggest new template areas, with smaller gateways and keep them a bit lower, they just feel too high.

I really loved Inferno. The subtle layout changes are good, and they managed to create a detailed map with a completely different theme which still had the same 'feel' to it (for me anyway). So far, all official remakes have been very nice, but I feel Inferno is by far the best looking of them all.

On the subject of Port, I feel it is sort of like a better version of Compound. Whilst still not my idea of an ideal map, it provides somewhat new and interesting gameplay. Badly optimised though.
