There are very very few cases where a hollowed skybox should be put around the whole map (e.g. my starwars maps), why on earth do you need it for an outdoors map?

in compiling hardware Post #18761
the compiles for even my most complex maps only ever take a couple hours max. The extra mega super options are usually overly complex and dont really add anything to the map.

I prefer being able to compile my map in a reasonable time over waiting 2 days for the thing to compile and then have to change something.

anyone ever watch Mahoromatic? / something more beutiful. Despite being a bit perverse, it was a really bittersweet and emotional ending that affected me quite a lot.

your logic makes no sense you crazy thing you
If zoners don't work theres something wrong with your map, yes they compile a little differently but its generally your fault

in Can you test maps without running hl Post #18538
if you cant csg-bsp your map in about 5 seconds then cut the section you are editing out and edit that in a seperate 'testing' map. If you then load halflife in windowed mode (on a second monitor preferably), you can just keep switching back and forth from compiling.

Oh and it doesnt hurt to know exactly how every entity works inside out either, but that took me about 4 years.

no they can't
yes they have to be converted
of course you can use the same wads, just rip all the textures out and put them into whatever texture format they use for HL2

Considering HL2 supports such an advancement in mapping, I wouldn't bother with any of my old maps however

Firstly, simplify your design, noone wants to read so much detail. Try to make it more high level without going into the details of every class (which are usually just hidden from the player)

Is this a proprietary multiplayer mod or something? Doesn't sound like a concept that would last.

Use a batch compiler and Zoners tools. Then use the -estimate setting on VIS. It doesn't actually freeze. It sometimes does. But normally, it is just working really hard and making the rest of the programs (including display drivers) freeze. If you use a batch file, you can see it working in %. Estimate explains itself. It estimates the time left!

MOP, try reading the posts above you ffs, repeating other peoples advice is a faux pas

vis is either on full mode or on fast, there arent 3 options despite what the compiler options say

if you're using the proper zoners tools, and are compiling OUTSIDE of the crappy hammer attempt at doing a dosbox, put '-chart - estimate' to give you a proper breakdown of what vis is doing/how it did it and a more accurate representation during compile, rather than just a 10%age

that isn't a square you muppet, thats just a box where you can't see the other sides. For all intents and purposes it will LOOK like a square, but it isnt a flat plane (you cant use that effect to create a solid flat 2-sided plane)

when you actually got steam to work? I still refuse to let that piece of crap near my system and my maps again. Its like having someone randomly go through all your folders and stick them in a giant file, whilst randomly rearranging everything else just to piss you off
