Why would they waste their time making different models for the low percentage of left handers out there its just a game. Other things are worth fixing though like holding weapon while climbing ladder and other things.

I just mapped a temple map de_aztec_temple. For those of you that still play counterstrike but don't have condition zero GET IT!!!!!! Counterstrike is WAYYYYYY out of date. Condition zero is the exact same gameplay except better models and way better versions of all the basic maps. Plus ya'll need to test out my map I made for it! And i'm starting another one for it now.

I know it's early but I practically live for these. I was thinking and wouldn't mind doing another "map from layout". There really fun and pretty easy to finish with such guidelines.

Thats right, theres a really nasty spyware on my computer. When I turn my computer on the spyware changes my background image to a message telling me theres a spyware on my computer and "this background is obviously not from my computer" because it says stupid stuff like your friends, family and coworkers aren't safe or some bs. and the only function I am able to do is click on a thing that takes me to a link to purchase their bs antivirus product like they really expect me to hand them my credit infromation.

Anyways I can't do a system restore or go to the internet to download a free program like avast to get rid of it. WHen I click internet it goes to the internet but than freezes and x's out of it immediately. And same goes for just about any other function except conrol panel. And there's a icon on the bottom right "a shield with an x on it" but when I check in control pannel it shows that virus protection is actually on.

Btw all I had was AVG which worked for a few years...

Is there anything I could try? I want to map all of a sudden! ! ! A level inspired by desert collosus from oot mixed in with some modern lost technology. :crowbar:

Think like this. Every aspect of a competition entry matters. The architecture and level itself matters the most but the ambience, lighting, story, reasons make it that much better.

Edit: Maybe I could use this as an opportunity to recreate a piece of architecture. Hmm will it fit into my schedule?

This thread isn't going anywhere whatsoever! And i'm not going to enter a competition that is completely un interesting. How about there just be no more competition threads and just make a competition because im sick of all this useless anticipation. Just come up with an interesting idea and start a competition out of it. Or get this thread organized!

So are we going to each submit an idea or just go with the same old ones? I agree that I don't like any proposed thus far. And I think brush work is a better focus being that source outways gold hugely in entities. Either way you can always add them to make your levels better. So should we each submit one idea and do it that way?

Soup your more than clever enough to come up with a good idea. Or, well destructification from base could be "your idea/ vote"...

Edit: gah lee iv'e been gone all day and no responses. Well I think this competition should be a fresh new idea as well. Unless yall want to do it the way Strider proposed/ said. I feel I should have a little say being that I won last one. My idea is... uhh/??

Yea I agree, and dm from base twice. How about we have everyone submit "just ONE" of their favorite ideas starting now. And than we vote on them. And type it in green so it stands out. I will think of one tomorrow and post it tomorrow night.

I really don't like any of those ideas especially the hsitorical one but if I were to choose from them I would pick "deathmatch from base". The first ones cool but I don't feel like making a useless map. And I really don't want to remake a historical place. Unless it was historical architecture. I guess my vote goes to dm from base.

At first I thought abandoned hospital was stupid but I actually like it. I see an old town with hay growing and blowing in the wind. A big glass lobby with doors swinging open in the wind and old hospital material here and there. Out of date computers. Warm beams of sun revealing dust. I vote map an abandoned hospital if it could be an option!

I don't care what the competition is lets make this happen already. Geez i'm going to be soooo busy if I enter. Which I always do...

in Some guy rants about goldsource Post #286557
The reason I still use gold is because its a quick tool to get ideas into a 3d realm quickly and somewhat pleasantly. And compiles take no time until an entire map is almost or is complete and it still only takes a few minutes. I don't think i've waited over nine minutes for a compile ever. Usually compiles take me 30 seconds to a min.

Source mapping takes me over nine minutes just to open up the sdk. Maybe once I get a new machine i'll begin with it but as far as im concerned im not a gamer but an architect. And gold is a great tool to quickly experiment with 3d ideas. Its like a little piece of heaven that I can craft in.

Map a rats map is a great idea. Not of your immediate surroundings and not to a certain scale. You guys are being too specific. And i've already done a rats of my room so such specifications wouldn't allow me to enter. Post nuclear map is pretty cool but probably more ideal for source. I agree that broad ideas are great for more creativity but I think we need an idea that is neither too broad nore too specific. Last competition idea was a little too broad though a great idea it just required lots of mapping. Thats the only reason a little more specific idea would be ok for this competition. Lets come up with "new" fresh ideas though guys.

Heres a few new ideas from me along with my favortite.

-Map triangular architecture, arch. with triangles as its main influence/component.

-Map your house. Change it up if you'd like. Include pictures.

-Map a huge deathmatch map where its size is a big aspect. Think of carbaseus as an example.

-Make a deathmatch map that takes place in the sky. Think floating islands, canons, etc.

-Make a deathmatch map/sp map that takes place under the ocean. Could be enclosed in glass architecture just as long as it is under the sea.

-Map a grave yard.

-Mars. Your take on what habitation/architecture/living spaces, society on mars might look like.

-Music. Make a map where each seperate area is influenced by different music or an entire map inspired by one song. The music could or could not be played in the map but probably should. Think of maps like huhhh and whaaa for counterstrike.

-Remake black mesa research facility. Intro/train ride could also be done. Intro lab would be done.

The shapes would be somewhat hard but the overall architecture isn't extremely complex. Its basically a huge altered box with a unique roof and huge cutouts for the windows. Vertex manipulation would have to be used tons. The hardest thing to do when reconstructing architecture is scale. I got quite a bit done on villa savoye and realized my scale is a little too big so I sorta have to start over.

Wow what are the odds. Im currently mapping villa savoye! No joke. And I was thinking of doing notre dame du hat next its my favorite church, I love Le corbusier.

I think i'm going to wait until i'm finished with villa savoye and than decide what pice of architecture to map next. I will map notre dame du hate some time for sure though. It wouldn't be that hard I don't think.

Wow I like the way you guys keep the ball rolling here. Though a few weeks isn't enough time to get an entry out of me. I have full time college for architecture and I work 25 hours a week on top of that. But I would love a month or longer competition again. I have a really great idea that has been done by some but i've been wanting to have a take on it and it would be great competition.

Remake black mesa research facility. This means the entrance/ base area after the intro train ride. The train ride could also be remade if so desired.

If we were to do another map from base I think a deathmatch style theme is the best because its good opportunity to get some more good deathmatch maps out there, and they can always be converted to single player maps as tetsuo did with competition 27.

I think there's too many good ideas out there to redo an idea though especially twice though map from base is very broad in many senses.

I'll post other ideas as they come.

I like the idea of "focusing on architecture". I would do so much more we just need a great theme. "map a dream" was so entirely broad that I had to do so many maps to get my ideas across. Map something like a temple or other type of architecture is more ideal. How about we have an "architecture" competition. Design a piece of architecture with certain aspects/ limitations like for example; use hexagons as your main component as was done by Kasperg in hexagerate.

Instead we should do triangles!!!
