How about they just dont release HL2 and I wont care, because the game is going to be a giant show just to put 'the new thing to map for' through the market. I bet the actualy single player missions will be short and a giant scripted sequence.

Ive seen all the good ones, everything past about season 9 was a repeat. Only a true Simpsons fan would agree with me, me who can quote entire episodes of the simpsons. Me who has watched the 'proper' episodes so much that I no longer can because I know them too f**king well! :|

I think its a better better to either not rotate the cylinder, or turn it into a func_rotate stick in an origin brush and set its starting coordinates. That tends to look the best anyway

in "Lame Texturing" Post #17359
just from looking at the shots I can see that you've used entirely default textures and tried to make up for a lack of detail in them by using brushes. This almost never looks as good as it could with an adequate texture (or model to fulful the job)

How come you dont edit my posts anymore then? They make less sense than a rant about why rants aren't as good as they were 10 years ago. But really why are they not? Is it because the quality of ranting has gone downhill, or is it because NOONE is prepared to listen to reason and instead whines on needlessly about nothing that noone really cares about except the author?? I think people should respect my opinion more as it is correct, and theirs isn't. Quite simple really.

14 hours? Oh wow, like thats a lot. Overlord took me about 8 months to make and went through several hundred revisions. It's possibly the most complicated and advanced TFC map ever made, it was rated a 3 so really, who cares?

Your map however looks and is, a poor effort and one worthy of a beginning mapper. Therefore respect the rule that you should NEVER EVER released your first map and expect any self respecting mapper to like it.

in how do i make faces into 1 thing Post #16875
If you mean you've split up a face into a bunch of brushes and want it as one, that makes no sense as only the compiler understands faces as single planes

7th, its generally NOT a good idea to killtarget brush ents. HL can intermittently crash because of it

you've probably gone off and just created a mash of invalid brushes. Hl is very limited and unforgiving you know.

Mebbe post the map up or email someone (aka me) to try and fix it?

use an env_sprite and put models/modelname.mdl instead of a sprite name. Thats the general method for putting models into multiplayer maps (That dont support monster ents)

TEN MILLION PEOPLE DO NOT PLAY CS! Don't kid yourself, there aren't that many online players for halflife

CS players are usually little young males barely out of puberty
The CS community is full of those that wish to ruin your game, don't deny it

CS is a deathmatch with a 5 minute wait every time you die, it's hardly a novel concept.

CS has been 'over-made' by taking it and constantly remodifying it with every major release, with no thought that the game might now actually be STABLE and perfect without the inclusion of some rediculous riot shield. Who knows? They'll prolly put a RPG/80mm Vulcan cannon combination in next

CS does have very, very pretty maps however
