Yeah. I agree with the raving Communist cat.
lol.

Yeah, I agree too.
Maybe we should be asking a more general question instead of why we live. Maybe, "What is considered living". Once you can answer the more general question, answer the more specific. It may look like gibberish but that all depends on the interpreter. (make sure you're open minded and not biased like many of you are.)
You're just giving us more questions... We want answers. ;)
you will find that it is simply against the way things work in this universe for there to be any entity.
You look for something not to be there. Why not instead look for something to be there?

I have tried looking for something not to be there, and it usually doesn't make any sense.
My hamster doesnt have a religion and it seems pretty happy. It lives for food.
lol!

Chow, thats actually the funniest thing you have ever said.

Maybe I'm just in a good mood? ;)

Well, if we look at that quote, it has some truth. The hampster lives to enjoy itself, hence, eating. remember this? "I think they try and enjoy life while it lasts at every means neccisary."

Yeah.. thats right.. I'm comparing some of you to a hampster :D
(Soon to be quote of some clueless person) Let us all think of ourselves as a hampster. Let us not ask "are we the hampster", but "What is the hampter?" Is the hampster a part of all of us? What is light? how come the hampster is grey? who stole my cheese? questions must be asked to be... to be.... yes...

I think that a new Forum should be added. The Serious Discussion forum. Obviously "Stuff" would be of use for that, but there is also a lot of "Unserious" stuff in there. Since we are finnaly starting to have some interesting conversations, a "Serious Discussion" forum would be a great answer.

We obviously have discussed this before, but I feel its time to post about it.

Good job Vassy ;)

BTW, I dream not in pictures, but in like total 3d... its odd. When I am dreaming, I can see what is behind an object when I am on the other side of it. I have only had 1 dream without color. Twas very odd. My aunt was sitting in a chair, screaming, and her dog was sitting on the ground next to her, doing nothing...
I don't dream at all
everybody dreams. People have about 1 dream every 3 seconds when they are asleep. I forget where I read that, but I believe it.
Yes. However it does allow us to pretend that our posts contained the answer to the meaning of life, but we just can't be arsed retyping.

My mom had something similar once,
Let me explain:

There has been much evidence of so-called "Psychic Abilities? that obviously have a place in the bloodline. I do believe you?re story now that you included the piece about your mother. Once again the human mind has left me speechless.

I do believe in Special Abilities that people have, like we discussed before, my odd ability to see someone?s energy being released off of them (In hippy terms ?Aura?). I also have that odd way that my dreams occur. When I have one of those dreams, I am never outside of my body. I am always there, and thinking too? the oddest thoughts anyone dared to think.

I do believe that these abilities run in the blood-line. My Mother can also see Auras, though she never has had one of those dreams (As far as I know). My Great Aunt, who I only met when I was very young, had the strangest abilities I had ever seen. You had to be in the room with her to understand it. She was freaky. Although she was blind, right when you walked into her room, she knew who was there. Only until she lost her memory did she loose that ability. She had dreams? dreams like I do? but I never really had the chance to ask her of it. I was very young, and didn?t understand this like I do now.

I know a lot of you think I?m pretty crazy right now, and I am starting to think I?m a little nuts too, but the fact is that I come from interesting blood. On my Mother?s side, they had the ?Special Abilities?, and on my Father?s side? well, I?ll be short with this.

My Great Grandfather on my father?s father?s side was a genious. My Father?s mother was also a genious (according to tests). Whats odd was that if you gave my Great Grandfather a long row of numbers? any length? he could multiply them out in a matter of a few minutes. I only know this story from hearsay, but I also know that he went a little? insane.

Slowly, as I grow older, I understand more and more about my interesting bloodline, and also aquire more interesting new abilities myself (Such as playing anything I hear on the piano? when I?ve never played the piano before in my life)

You must be thinking ?Well, Brattys finnaly gone nuts?, but the truth is, I believed this even before I came to TWHL, but I decided to post it now? interested at Jahzel?s post, since its all starting to add up.

here it goes... Big long post:

All the following opinions are from BrattyLord only and do not reflect the opinions of the Church. All opposing opinions are encouraged.
Religion was made by humans because they didn't like they idea of when you die
This is not true. When you say "Religion", I will assume that means "Christianity", because you cannot lump all religions together. They are all so different.

Judaism is basically the belief in Yaweh (God). Therefore, this religion is obviously the earliest and oldest of religions. They do not believe in an afterlife. It was not until Jesus Christ came that an afterlife was possible. Before that, people followed God, regardless of what happened after they died. In fact, the basic belief of death that Judaism shows today is that you cease to exist. Jesus Christ came and died for us. He loved us so much that he went through all that torture and death in order to save us. He did all that he did for us. God loves us so much that he gave his only son to us, a sinful people, so that we could be saved from our sins.
It was made so people could control other people, so humans would fear being damned or some other punishment, and because they want life after death.
I agree that there are some people who use religion that way, but it is not really that way. You cannot stereotype a majority of the world based on a few "bad apples". Thats like saying that "Germans all want to take over the world" because of Hitler. There was much more to Germany before Hitler, and there is much more to come after. I will say this again:

Do not stereotype
* beats Brattylord to death with The Soldier and the Hunchback ? and !
What?
personally i think your wasting time sweating in a church on a sunday, thats imo tho
There is something you need to understand.

Its not about you

That thought scares many people away from God. Because they do not want to believe that its not about them.

Worship is to give thanks to God, for all that he has given us. To thank him for giving us his only son. It has nothing to do with "Well, I don't get anything out of worship".
god is dead.
What are you, nuts? ;)

explain why you think that. I've never heard anyone say anything that odd before. :D
proof of my point is WW1 and 2.
Explain why you think that. I'm curious.
'My Theory' when it most certainly isn't.
Is there someone else who thought this way? Please tell me if so, because I came up with all of this myself.
from brattys arguements perspective we are god.
I didn't say that, but I do agree that God is everywhere. I think that God is +. God created the angels, but many rebelled against God because they didn't like the idea of something being more powerful that them. They, obviously, were -. Their leader, a great angle, Satan, left heavan with his other "fallen angles" and created Hell. They pretty much try and torture our world for... pleasure. Pretty much, God created +, which turned into -, and together we have our most neutral world today.

There is a holy war that we know nothing about going on. What I said is probably not true in the least, but that is what I believe is going on. God is not on the + side. God pretty much watches over the war, because he loves both sides so much. Why else would he give us, sinful people, his only son so that we could be relieved of our sins?
Why are you right and all the other religions are wrong?
Because it is what I believe. If you believe in something, you obviously don't believe in things that counter that belief. Many people try and say
"Well, all religions are right".

This is because todays liberal society pressures them. They don't actually believe that all religions are right, they just "Go with the flow", because they fear being downcast in society. That is like something a politician would say. "Everyone is right". This is also why I like Bush so much. He has firm believe and he sticks by them. He does not go with the popular opinion. He probably didn't think he would get re-elected when he decided to free the people of Iraq. Think of how the Media tries to destroy him. I know that you have all seen it. Why else would you hate him so much? You've never met him...

My answer to your question is simple:

Because that is what I believe.

For as long as I live, there is nothing that will tear me from God. My belief in Jesus Christ will never be taken from me.

Chow, it says no-where in the Bible that if you kill someone you will go to Hell. Yes, in the ten commandments it does say not to kill, but those commandments are just a code to live by to create a society on this earth, and they were very relevant to this time, but I do not believe so any more. Now, there are only 2 commandments I really believe in:

Love God
Love your neighbor

This is what Jesus taught.

(Plus notice what I just quoted out of the Bible: "A time to kill, and a time to heal" )

Oh man... you don't know how many times I've posted about dreams...

Dreams:
Another of Bratty's Theories:

I'll jump right into it.

Dreams are the work of our subconcious mind. We only remember the dreams that we wake up in the middle of. What I mean is, when you wake up, you are in a rift between you're subconcious mind and your concious mind. This may explain why hard sleepers rarely remember their dreams.

The human mind is obviously a very interesting thing, and it never ceases to amaze me. When you "Dream about the Future", is where the mind's greatest wonders come to work:

Imagination may not only be imagination. What if you were so creative, Imaginative, or whatever else you want to call it, that your subconcious mind worked faster than reality. Then, you would wake up during dreams that reflect events yet to happen.

This has happened to be, and continues to happen. Freaks the hell out of me. Its not Dejavu (Spelling!), like most people have and Vassy has just described, but something more. Exact events, precise thoughts, everything that happens, all I have done before, together. It is the oddest feeling I have ever had, and I usually get it about once every two weeks. I try and fight it, but I cannot. I realize that everything is unstoppable, and that it WILl happen nomatter what.

one moment, I will continue later... I'm freaking myself out.

So there can never be tranquility in the world?
I believe Ecclesiastes puts it better than me:

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: (3:2) A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; (3:3) A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; (3:4) A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; (3:5) A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; (3:6) A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; (3:7) A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; (3:8) A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace."

Obviously there has been many religious and political discussions reappearing here at TWHL. I intended to post a while ago on these, but my post was deleted, so here it goes.

Out of all that was said, I was most struck by something that unbreakable said:
but, does god really exist? And if so, why won't he perform yet another miracle, and end the Iraqi War, that a Peace Treaty was supposedly signed for.. but still continues. Where is god now!? In this time of need!
Well, many people (Christian or not) have asked questions such as these. People always wonder the question ?If God is all powerful, why does evil exist??, or ?Why does God let all this happen??

I have a theory that answers this very question:

Throughout the world, many of you probably have noticed patterns. The world seems to be based on laws that we have not yet to discover. Throughout everything that you have seen here, there is a simple balance that holds the world together. This can be witnessed in Math, Chemistry, Physics, and many more.

I?m not very good at explaining this, so please bear with me :D

Math:

Numbers are obviously a part of this world. Together, the world is made up of unthinkable amounts of numbers that all feed to an equation known as ?God?s Equation?. There is a simpler equation that we can understand, in fact, probably the simplest equation that has been under our noses since we could first count.

X + -X = 0

You way wonder why this equations shows any relevance to what I am saying here, or why this has any importance.

0 has been called nothing, although I believe it is much more. 0 is not positive nor negative, so it obviously stands as a neutral.

I believe that this world is a neutral, and that it takes both sides to function. I think that this is the way earth is.

Heaven is the positive, and Hell is the negative, so it only makes sense that here on earth, everything is neutral.

Another example:
Chemistry:

From a Chemist?s perspective, the world is made up of tiny little things called protons, electrons, and neutrons.

For there to be an atom, there needs to be a proton and an electron. The proton in this case stands as a + and the electron as a - .

Physics:

Pretty much common sense,

(Joke: But too bad common sense isn?t)

?What goes up, must come down?

?For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction? ? ??

Throught every aspect of life, this very simple equation is repeated. I believe that this is how the world functions, like a giant scale with 2 sides, 1 for + and 1 for ? , and that Heaven is a +, and Hell is a - , so you can see how God makes this world work. I guess with both sides, the world is complete, and that is the way God made it.

Sorry, but I?m bad at explaining my own theory, even when I have time to think about it ;)

I hope that I didn?t offend anyone. ;) :D

in Mappers Needed for Project HeadCrab Post #102100
I believe Multiplayer would be interesting if the Humans had to "escape" from a building of some sort, and the headcrabs (Also players) spawned indefinatly. What I mean is, when a headcrab dies, it respawns, and when a human dies, hes dead for the round. Get it?

also, Clever level design in favor of the headcrabs would be very intersting, such as a metal complex with tons of crevaces, holes, airvents, and such leading right to where the humans must get through.

Also, tight passageways and such would be great.

If this is the idea you are going for, I would love to map multiplayer for this later on ;) (I just gotta learn more about HL2)

Tell me if you need a mapper for that sort of a map :D

I would also recommend NO USE OF ZOMBIES. The headcrabs alone would suffice.

(Although, it would be cool if a headcrab kills a human, and stays on him long enough, he turns into a zombie, and then after time, he could become the next stage of zombie, freaky Jumpy skeleton dude.)
