I tried out for an acting part on a commercial, and the people there recommmended me for modeling, but I don't want to do that. Thats silly, and for stupid people.

I don't post pictured of myself, becuase I really don't want people to know what I look like.

Read the beginer tutorials before trying to map ;)

... and another thing ... we have a map vault to post your maps...

I'll see what I can do to put the talented mappers up front,
but that might be a little insulting to those who are already upfront

Vassy stays, since he already started.

Kol was meant to be first, but had computer problem, so hes third.

Hes probably the best mapper in the team.

I'll move people like Seventh and Rabid up a little if things start to heat down ;)

I enjoy both Halflife2 and Halo2.

Halflife2
+ Amazing new graphics. best I've ever seen
+ Interactivity
+ suspenseful action
+ comes with great multiplayer games
+ great new interactive characters
+ you can map for it!!
  • storyline wasn't that great
  • lack of variety in monsters
Halo2
+ great graphics
+ Amazing movie graphics
+ good storyline
+ Great weapons
+ action galor
+ Most fun I've ever had with a videogame
+ Great music
  • Looked like origional at times
  • very inconclusive ending that had me hitting my x-box
  • short
  • multiplayer sucks
I'm not saying one is better than the other. I liked both in different ways. Half-Life2 as a breakthrough in videogames, and Halo2 for fun.

I know, I know, but I don't just want someone dominating the whole thing.  Each person adds a small part to kind of show off their mapping skills.  That way we have a map that includes all of the interested mappers here's style.  Anyway, who defines a room ;)

We have come across that idea before, and as advertising as it may seem, I think people should be able to add onto what others put before them.  This way everyones map together makes a linear path, rather than random maps stuck together, which was shown in places on TWHLmix1.  Good idea, but I don't think thats what I want to do.

by 3, I just mean not too many. Any ammount of stuff you make will be fine, just keep it within reason.

well, I want to limit the ammount that mappers add.

I thought to myself when I was writting this that if I did not add limitations, people would add way too much. The point of TWHLmix is to pass around the map and each add a little.

I know that one map is too little, so when the team comes together.

I see now that this is crazy, so I'll send out another e-mail ;)

This isn't much. The standard that I would let join would not be "Ti's is me ferst meep" but instead I would let joing someone like:

"Hi, I've been at TWHL a while and have created some maps in the process. although they have not been very impressive, I believe I am worth it for this project."

The map will be HL1.

This is because of a few reasons.

1: People are more acustomed to HL1 right now, since HL2 is relativly new and we probably could not make results like we would with HL1.

2: We can challange ourselves to outdoing TWHLmix1 with the same engine

3: HL1 is easyer for me to put the maps together in right now.

4: With HL1, we will get more publicity from members, since they already know how to do it, and may be shy to show off their new HL2 skills.

Jahzel, of course you can join, but e-mail a resume as some of the others have already. This is so I for one have your e-mails and can make a bulk TWHLmix list to whos involed, and also because I really want to know the quality of your mapping skills. Of course I will probably let everyone in ;)

Heres how this thing is going to go down:
TWHLmix is a project where TWHL member pass around a map and each add onto it.  It was started a year ago by me, but only one map was made.  Hazardous finished up the TWHLmix1.  We will now do TWHLmix2 with more control, to make sure that we have a better map.
If you are interested in TWHLmix, please e-mail me at Brattylord@yahoo.com with a resume.  This resume could just be a short paragraph about you, just so that I know you are really a mapper fit for this project.  Please send me some screenies of your work, or something of the sort.
After you join, you will recieve a welcome letter, and a place in line.  There will be no public list.  If you are notified that your time has come, and you have not replied in 3 days, you will be bumped to the end of the line, and given a new number.
I hope that this map will go up better than before, and take a considerably less amount of time.
Please join TWHLmix2. We will again make a HL singleplayer map. There will be no custom stuff, unless you e-mail me about it and I aprove.

Of course you can help guys, but we need to come up with a plan first ;)

I think we are torn between what kol said about HL1, and the fact that this would proove better results with HL2, although people have not yet got acostumed to HL2.

How about we collaborate to make yet another map?

This might be too soon, but, we can brainstorm now.

I would suggest another single player map, but since this is "TWHLmix2", It would be appropriate to make it HL2.

It would be fun to make a multiplayer map for this, where we each make a section with only one weapon from each person allowed. We could make it HL2 Deathmatch, or just normal Deathmatch. No other multiplayer mod could be used, since most people either don't play it, or don't have it. Everyone has deathmatch.

What do you say?

Shall we do it again?

And haz, you deserve a break. Go to sleep ;)

BTW,

don't use carve. That might have been what started the problem. Try and use Vertex Manipulation to make your complex brushes. I believe there are two tutorials on VM on this site.
