the site stays up because we have andy still watching over us. of course got the other moderators, like slayerA and seventh monkey. basically the site stays up without atom because we have such a large community were pretty much self functional. theres nothing massive that needs constant attention by atom, and any time hes needed andy ca drop him a line.

thisi s twhlmix, a combination map (maps?) where twhl members each add a room to a map. simple. if you want to help go ahead. just remember the golden rules:

NEVER edit something someone else has made.
make sure you send on your lights.rad file with the map
check fully for errors and make a full compile with lighting.

never carve, even though the "in the beginning" tutorials ues carving (someone should really update those HINT HINT NUDGE NUDGE WINK WINK) instead make each brush individually. you will find mapping alot easier if you take time to make each wall yourself rather than hollowing. another great tip is to keep snap to grid on and only change it with the [ and ] keys. this can stop leaks quite well if you only build walls and other hull brushes with snap to grid at 64 units.

bratty youre just exaggerating. i would quote some of the things he said but the thread got deleted. basically on americans are communists.(dont start another argument plz :D )

and on a happier note, welcome! hope your mapping for hl cos we do that a lot bettter than cs! we also really appreciate more half life songle player maps. just look at the amount of cs garbage in the vault. (no offense, there were some alright cs maps). first idea here is to get an avatar, either choose one from the list or upload your own. second of all get an IRC client. click the help link next to the irc link on the big thing with links on the side. most poeple go for MIRC but icechat is where its AT. please get icehat. please. please.
after that, all thats left to do is map! make sure to check the links page for some handy mapping links.

press enter once the shape has been dragged out. what you did was make the outline of your shape, which wont become a proper solid until you press enter or right click and choose create object. make sure all your textures have been set up right by following the hammer setup tutorial. i actually didnt set up hammer the first time i used it and i had no textures or entities!

the pink the tut talks about is the texture AAATRIGGER by the way.

survival is definetly the key here, but i was thinking we could use gangs as a much deeper storyline. for instance a gang (just call them the collective, no reference to VERC :) ) hiding in underground tunnels that lead around (and even out of) the city are managing to take control of some of the zombies to keep intruders out of the tunnels. the collective use them to sneak in supplies from the outside so they can secretly live underground without fear of zombie attacks or the TV company finding out.

problem reaction-kill seems fine.

nice. this could be an introduction .dem!

my idea for the following areas of the game:

we have the player being introduced along with the other criminals being taken to the city. a camera watches the viechle (dropship?) enter (land?) and gaurds throw you out into the city and leave hurriedly. a quick level change gives you control of the player and at that moment a hoard of zombies attack. since the game will be vastly non-linear we could have the choice of running or finding some weapons, either by looking around or punching out one of your criminal buddies.

i think spirit can solve that too, but theres a few lil things yuo must know.
its a hl toolkit, so you can only make hl maps with it.
its a hl mod, so people without it wont be able to play your maps unless you make a full mod out of it.
