I just remembered something simmilar.
I was about to quicksave, but I accidentaly pressed the RMB, while pressing F9. That way I ended up with ~15 HP, a ruined quicksave and tons of snipers ahead (the part, where barney is pinned down on the roof.) :lol:

Well it's impossible to make an osprey carry the player, if it's non-solid, but you CAN make an invisible hollowed cube the size of the area that the player can be in, turn it to a func_train and make it follow the same path_coners as the osprey and place the player in it. This might have problems, though, because the osprey rotates both in Z and X Y axis, so it might look pretty unrealistic.
This way - you'd have to spend lots of time tweaking, etc, so the best way to do it would be using an osprey prefab, like Elon said.. :)

Trying to turn a hgrunt turret off, by using it.

What happens?
Does it explode or something?
Well that happened the first time I saw that turret in "We've got hostiles". I ran towards it and started using it thinking that it will turn off, and waddya know? I went all beep beep beeeeep in only 5 secs. :glad:

HLDM: Get pwned with the corwbar, when you have the egon + 100Hp (yup.. Muzz did that with me :P), plant a tripmine and blow yourself up with it after 15 secs. (It happened to me once. I planted a trip in a corridor and walked away, when I noticed someone else (don't remember if it was Hunter or SpaG) with the shotgun coming out the nearest corner. Since I had the pistol, I ran backwards and.. booom!! beep beep beeeeep)

HL: Trying to turn a hgrunt turret off, by using it.

Cs 1.6: To pwn noobs in a very fun way, do this:

Get a scout and a deagle. Once ya have a noob in mid-range with the scout, don't shoot him yet (or miss him on purpose), once he sees that you're 'helpless', he'll go all 'cool' and jump ya with the knife. When he's in the air, take yer deagle out and boom boom headshot! I've done this a couple a' times and it works :biggrin:

HL2: Think that the shockmines are gravity gun ammo and try picking them up :lol:

Y'know, you can use a multi-source to enable or disable spawn points... You should be able to disable all the spawn points in the flooded section WHILE IT IS FLOODED, and enable them the rest of the time...

I have two maps which make use of this. One (lab17_flood) has two or three spawn points in a small room which has the potential to be flooded with slime; after it gets flooded those three spawn points are disabled ("locked"). The other (mausoleum) has several levels, and the spawn points in the lower levels are successively activated as players make their way down from the top level by other means (so if everybody stays up top, nobody will find themselves spawning miles from all the action...)

Well the HL engine is truly awesome, it it's still played, modded and mapped for for 8 years.

I think that there will always be mappers for HL.
Later - it will just help new mappers understand the basics, before mapping for Source.

Look great, the bumpmap really adds alot to realism :)

We were all noobs some time ago.
So I bet that all of us have their first try at mapping saved somewhere..
So I just want ya to show your very first playable map.

My first one was an updated version of the example map given in the multi_manager tutorial. I just made some extra rooms with more multi_managers and other bombs. The map seemed super 1337, when I first ran it, so I added some more and posted it in the mapvault.. I deleted it after some time, seeing that it's really sucky.. :)

I bet that must of the experienced mappers know this, but I'll show a way of making curves wihout ANY vertex-manipulation.

I'll show, how to make a curved pipe here:

First, make 1 cylinder (32 x 32 x 128)
Then make another one and rotate it by 90 degrees.
Place both of them in an equal distance from each other.
It should look like this.

Now clone both pipes and place them like this:

Now, by using the shear tool (click 3 times on the brush), shear both new pipes untill the end touches the other pipe.

Now clip the ends of the pipes at the place, where they meet up.

And voila! A nice curved pipe!

The lighting totally doesn't fit the sky. If it's dusk, then make the light_enviroment emit orange-ish light. Experiment till ya get it right, or use another sky, coz now it looks really ugly. :

Alright.
Problem solved.

1. Trapt WAS doing the right thing. He didn't flame habboi at the start, he only gave info on something that might have happened.

2. Even if the info isn't true, Habboi can't ask Trapt to apologize, because it's not his fault if the info wasn't true. If you really 'feel hurt' then the only way to actually make him apologize is to sue him.

3. I'm on Trapt's side, because he didn't do anything wrong. His actions were pretty reasonable and even if he posted the info, because he doesn't like habboi - he still did the right thing.

4. And seriously. Would you apologize an enemy of yours even if you were wrong? Sure, you could say 'I'm sorry', but I bet that everyone would know that those words have 'FUCK YOU' all over them.. ;)
I mean, you just wouldn't mean it. So that wouldn't be much of an apology.

Well It seems that I've missed alot (welcome back, Saco).

I've been away for a week, so let's try and discuss this problem.

So if I got everything right - Saco keeps the 1st map, edit it and polish it till' it's flawless (3 weeks.. That's a shitload of time) Why not add my escape seq to it?
I can make the 2nd and 3rd maps, that looks fine with me. Although I think that 2 experienced mappers are too much for one chapter. And if Saco won't have any internet - we won't be able to discuss the chapter and keep the whole thing logical.

But what the hell.. Since Saco has more time, I guess that he could make his 1st map really cool both in entity work and architecture, gameplay, textures, etc.
Since I have less time, my maps will be less eye-candy, and I'll concentrate on the gameplay, monster placement, etc, while trying to make the areas look "clean".. :P
