Hey. As some of you might know, i recently switched computers with my brother, and i feel after 4 days of use by me, this computer needs an upgrade. (It's almost 3 years old, its due time.)
I'm putting another 1.5 gig ram into it, as it only has 512 At the moment.
I have a Pentium 4 Processor 3.00GHz running at 2.99Ghz
It's a Dell Dimension 4600
BUT as for graphics cards, i don't know what to look for really.
Definitely something that can handle Bio-Shock (gonna get it after i upgrade for sure), and my budget is $250-300
Any Suggestions?

got good reviews, and it's an amazing price. I read up on gamespot's "10 things to read before buying a video card" and they said that this is one of the best cards for your money, and it runs oblivion the best at max settings.

Rust.... you should have it timed i think. Like kinda when you're in the freezer in hl1. It's so cold it drains your health slowly.

Ok texture lighting is REALLY simple.
Just find the texture you want to use for a light, and add it into the lights.rad file. hit tab twice, then input the brightness of the light you want. Texture lights arent as bright as point lights, so just mess with the brightness values as you see fit.
Lights.rad tells vis that there's light coming from the texture, so you dont have to supply it with any of your maps.
There are some entities that counter-strike has that half life doesnt, and vice versa. So make sure there arent any entities that CS doesnt allow.
Also, read through your compile log and see if anything really sticks out to you...
Hit alt+p (check for problems) and see if anything comes up there as well.
And.... Run the map on full vis once. see if that helps.

and it's gonna be that way for about 3 weeks until my training is complete, or the other (and hopefully higherpaying) job gives me a call.
My brother moved out of my house recently and into his own house rented with his friends. His room does not have space enough for a desk so he cannot use his desktop computer, and him being 21 is going to have many-a-party and does not want to leave his computer in a public area. He has before and death pursued so he learned his lesson.
So him and i are trading systems, and the time spent not working, attending classes, or doing homework or other activities (guitar, chores gigging etc etc) I will be transferring files from computer to computer, organizing them, cleaning out my brothers nasty malware so his comp may be useful.
All it needs is another 1.5gig of ram (1gig for now) and it will be more powerful than my current system.
I'm losing the following items from a convenience standpoint:
Media player controller on front of computer, headphone/ microphone jack under said media controller, mulit-card media card reader slot (located under my dvd-rw drive), and Windows vista.
