Aye, first screenshot is a bit too dark. You might want to add some dim lights to light up the catwalk. The other screens give me a "Opposing Force" feeling. Maybe because that scene is kinda like the one in OpFor. I don't remember the chapter title, though. :)

Did you turn the water in a func_water?

And as for the ladder, the ladder is made out of 2 brushes:
  • The actual ladder, which is visible, turn this into a func_wall with render mode solid and render amount 255
  • An AAATRIGGER texture in front of the ladder which is the invisible climable part (func_ladder)
Try these out.

Are you running Software mode? Software mode can only render 800 polygons. Anything above will dissapear. Its still there, but its simply not drawn by the engine.

Ah, i just used the monster_apache entity, and set the following properties:

Name: chopper (required, even if you not plan to trigger it)

Flags:
Gag, Prisonar, Start Inactive

That seemd to work for me.

Reinstall. Reinstall everything:
  • Half-Life (Steam or non-Steam)
  • ZHLT
  • Valve Hammer Editor
Reconfigure all of these, and it should work.

I don't believe that HINT/SKIP brush will work in that kind of area. Func_walling complex brushes or groups of complex brushes, should decrease compile time, but r_speeds might raise, unless you nullify those unseen faces. But there won't be much difference.

Do not save your .rmf and/or .map file in the bsp directories. Save them in the provided maps directory in Hammer.

VIS stands for visibility. It calculates whats visible and whats not by the player. Fast vis will do a quick job on those and thus more is drawn, causing higher r_speeds.

Full vis is of course only used for final compiles.

I believe your compile tools are not in the correct directory. Default directory should be Hammer/Editor/tools. If this is not the case make sure they are, and check if your paths in Hammer to days compile tools are ok.

Simply change the lines to your likings, and save the file. Then change the file extension to .lst. Put it in the right directory inside your mod directory and it should work.

As for disabling the Multiplayer button, you can make the button invisible by making the words black in btns_main.bmp, but the actual clickable part is still there. I think it needs custom code to disable that too. I don't know who, though.

Very easy way to up your postcount, 7th. You could at least be a little bit more helpfull in this case. :)

To change the discription next to the menu buttons, find the file called strings.lst which is located in valvegfxshell. If you can't find it there, you can surely find it in the pak0.pak. You can open lst file in any text based editor.

You can also change the color of the dialog boxes that pops up when you click the exit button, or close a game without saving. This is done in the file colors.lst.

Check out the tutorials for more/additional info. :)

But ya, the Space Shuttle and the Apollo 11 launch site look almost the same, but there are differences. Look at the launchtower. If you look closely, you'll also see the watertower. As seen on this pic:
