So, Obama won Presidency last night. There was much rejoicing.

I'm not exactly surprised, either. People are just tired of Republicans, let alone Bush-like Republicans.

Thoughts?

I've been making too many journals lately. Oh well.

Finally finished Far Cry 2 today. In total, I think it was 24 hours of gameplay.

This doesn't count for the possibilities of all the side missions I didn't do. I did, however, did all but one buddy mission, and did all of the weapon missions.

Like any good review, here are some SPOILERS:

Some aspects of the game were kinda cool, but seemed like they were there just to get in the way, making them negatives for me, and here's that list:

1. Malaria. They never explained WHY you have malaria, and how it impacts the story at all. It was juts put there to get in the way.

2. Gun jamming and weapon malfunctions. I love the idea as it's never been done before, as least as far as I know. The huge problem is that it occurs way to quickly. Supposedly, your weapon gets dirty, and apparently rusty, overtime, therefore can jam or stop working in some other insane way. Apparently no matter how often you DON'T have your weapon out, you still drag it through mud and dirt, making it jam in a short period of non-use. It was just silly that it jammed so often for no reason.

3. Check points / generally being shot at wherever you go. I REALLY wish they focused on villagers more in this game, and not that everywhere you go there's someone who wants to kill you. I don't think everyone should be a hostile, because then it's just a clusterfuck of guys wherever you go. If they had more villages, with villagers, then the story would even gain more depth, and the game would be more enjoyable. I mean, c'mon, supposedly your out to rescue the civilians of this African country, but you never see the people.

4. The shear size. All's I have to say is thank God for the buses.

EDITED IN:
Forgot to mention. AI was fucking horrible. It's the worst I've seen in a game in awhile. If it was the AI of Crysis, or any other game for that matter, it'd make the game TONS better.

EDITED IN x2:
Voice acting was also horrific. Absolutely no emotion.

The story was kinda confusing, in my opinion, too. It was sorta hard to keep up with who was who, and who wanted what.

It was good, nonetheless, but I hate when stories contradict themselves. For instance, in Far Cry 2, you go to Africa to kill "The Jackal". In the end, however, you end up siding with the guy and working with him. I wish there was an option to still kill him, which is kinda weird because every other mission gave you an option to do something else. This shouldn't have been different.

I need some clarifications, and it's sort of a critique, too, if anyone knows the answer. Why did you end up killing every leader in the two factions? I never understood why you choose to help one side, then go and contradict yourself.

Again, that'd be a nice spot to put a decision you can make. Either side with one faction or with the other. Decision making can be nice.

END SPOILER:
All in all, I was quite pleased. Sure, there was plenty of repetitive missions, mostly the side missions, but as long as you approached each one differently it'd be fun.

tl;dr Check out Far Cry 2. If anything, you'll get ~25 hours of play out of it, if not more. Could be a lot better

I love the clip of the Scout going "He's like a bear! He's like a big, shaved, bear that hates people!".
God I love the creators of TF2.

Okay, funny story for you guys.

Me and my couple of friends, both are girls, like to hang out every now and then. It usually ends up with us sitting in the house / car being boring, but this time was different.

We decided to go down to Detroit's river front area.

Going down Jefferson Avenue we took a wrong turn (by the way I'm not driving), but it wasn't just any wrong turn, you see.

This turn happened to be where the tunnel to Canada is.

So we pull off to the side of the road in a "Authorized Only Parking Space". My friend driving gets out of the car and waves to a border officer as to what to do because we wanted to turn around. He tells us to back out and pull through, or so we thought, the search area for people coming into the United States. So he stops traffic for us and lets us go through to the search area.

Little did we know, we were about to be searched. An officer takes the car keys from my friend who's driving, and he asks for all of our (3 of us) identifications and we have to step out of the vehicle.

When I went to reach for my back pocket to get my license, the officer seems to freak out and tells me to "calm it down" or something like that, but I get my wallet anyhow.

So we're now standing outside of the car in the search area of the border passing to Canada. They start asking us questions, like what we were doing in Detroit and where we were going. So we explain.

Everything seems fine so far. However, when it comes to the driver, it turns out she forgot her license and any other form of identification. They inform us that it's illegal to drive without a license, like we didn't know that.

They make us go sit inside the detainee area where they keep you as they search your car.

At this point, 2 or 3 officer are going through the car, top to bottom. I'm watching them out the window as they pop the trunk and hood of her silver Mustang. They took covers off the engine and took out every little thing inside the car and put it on the roof.

Standard procedure so far, I was expecting all of this as soon as I knew the driver forgot her license.

So we're sitting in the detainee area for about an hour and a half total. During this time, a half-dozen Iranians came through on passport / ID troubles. Kinda funny.

Anyways, they also contacted the driver's Mom, who had to come there, with her license, and take us home.

Luckily they let my friend drive home. Otherwise it would cost $8,000 to get the car out of the impound.

Her mom drops us off and you can tell she is highly pissed still.

tl;dr: DONT MAKE WRONG TURNS ONTO THE CANADA - US TUNNEL.

I was detained by Customs and Border Protection, had my ID taken, and sat next to a half-dozen Iranians for an hour and a half.

Thanks for reading.

I just watched Michael Moore's "Sicko", and I'm kinda pissed off.

If in the next 5 - 8 years the U.S. doesn't get nationalized health care or a national free college education system, I'm really thinking about moving to the UK.

I mean, we're 60 years behind Great Britain, France, and Canada, and I just don't see how hard it is to get on their level.

I knew we were this far behind, but just seeing this reminder made me think about how bad it was.

Somehow I knew I was born in the wrong country. Too many fucktards here, and it's starting to annoy the fuck out of me.

This is a good development for me, though, because it's just another reason for me to move to the UK. I wanted to do it, anyhow.

The Dark Knight officaly opens today, July 18th.

I was lucky enough to have seen the midnight show last night, and I must say, it was totally worth it.

The first huge thing that stands out in the new Batman movie series directed by Christopher Nolan is the great acting. This second movie of his is no exception.

The acting was absolutely fantastic, and it's a real shame Heath Ledger had to die, because he's my new favorite actor.

If he doesn't win some for of a award, I'll be kinda disappointed, because he's simply brilliant. Playing the Joker was a role made for him. He went all out on the part, and I must say, it shows. From he maniac of a laugh, to his anger he gets when he's called crazy, it's all just pure genius.

Heath Ledger also made The Joker my new favorite villain.

Christian Bale brings back the greatness, too. You've seen how great he is in Batman Begins, and he's great in the Dark Knight. I can't really say much more than that, because if you've seen the first film, you'd know what I'm talking about.

Besides those two, also making a triumphant showing is Aaron Eckhart, who plays Harvey Dent, and later Two-Face. At first he plays a citie's District Attorney, and later into a crazed vigilante. He plays both parts very well, and his great acting makes the transformation that much better.

The second thing that stands out in Nolan's rendition is the story. This movie has one of the best, if not THE best story in a movie I've seen all year. There's no holes to be seen, just flat out great story telling. I really hope the Nolan brothers continue what they've started and don't change a thing. It's simply too perfect.

This also fixes what a lot of the old stories had. In the old Batman movies, there was something like 3 or 4 villains per movie you had to keep track of (correct me if I'm exagerating, there was a lot, though). This sort of seems that way, but in the end, there was only 2: The Joker and Two-Face.

I would tell a bit of a story, but I'm always one to post spoilers and not mean to, and that would just suck on your part.

One thing I noticed this time around is the setting. In Batman Begins, sure, Gotham looked a little bit like New York. It had some more "epic-ness" to it, however. This time I really didn't see a difference between New York and Gotham. Not sure how significant that is, just something I noticed.

I probably have a lot more to say, but I can't think of anything, so I'll let my numbers speak for me.

Story - 10/10
Acting - 10/10

It seems like there's something else I'd put there... whatever.

Highly recommended. Go spend your 9 or 10 dollars, or if you're really up for it, spend your 20 dollars on IMAX, it's totally worth every penny.

Just as Srry saw Wall-E, I saw 'Wanted' last night.

It wasn't shit, but it wasn't good either. I was expecting to see a bad movie, honestly, because Angelina Jolie is generally in very crappy movies (I got to see her ass, though, so I'm fairly happy).

If you saw 'Shoot em Up', you basically saw this movie. The only difference is that it's more serious than it is funny, but there are bits of humor in it which not everyone can catch, which is something I happen to love.

If you didn't see said movie above, than all's 'Wanted' is, is an outrageous shooter movie, full of crazy stunts, insane CGI (not the whole movie, but the stuff they do in CGI (i.e. people getting shot through the head in slow motion) is awesome), and a lot of action. The best word to sum this movie up is 'ridiculous', because that's all it is.
If you try to see it for a good movie, than you're going to hate it. But if you just want to see some 'ridiculous' action, than this movie is for you.

I didn't necessarily want to see this movie, either, so don't think I did. I went out with this girl for her birthday, and she picked it. I'm glad I only had to pay 7 dollars, though.

I've been into blogs more and more lately. I know, I'm like 3 years behind in the blog craze.

I just found how interesting it is to hear how others feel about things, or how people report certain news with their own clever wording and style you don't find on mass news networks.

As a few weeks ago, I've been regularly following Engadget, and just yesterday I started reading Rock, Paper, Shotgun. I am also excited for TF2's new blog, which has only been updated once, so far, but am looking forward to new listings.

Before all of this, though, I read Garry's blog, the same Garry that brings you Garry's Mod. Just interesting things he has to say.

Which leads me to my next point / question:

Have any interesting blogs about technology / gaming / anything under the sun you think I'd be interested in? Even things that just have someone explaining their day to day life, much like Garry, but in a comical / amusing way I seem to like.

Anything at all.

I'd do my own blog, but my life is generally boring and uneventful, and I'm widely unknown (get it?), so no one would read it.

I've been doing a lot of thinking on what kind of car I want, and I've decided that I'd happily give up one of my testicles for a 1967 Chevelle SS.

Would have to be in good condition, of course, but I just cannot get over how awesome this car is.

Just a repost-

After playing gold rush for more than several hours, I have a very mini review:

+ Loooove the idea. It's like point capping except it's a lot hard to reset the point. This brings up the idea of needing a GREAT defense, which is always fun to do.
+ Like the idea of having separate corridors to bi-pass choke points. Leads to some very interesting game play when the defending team forgets about the ways around and they all get slaughtered.
+ Has a lot of places for offensive sentries, which is always a cool idea.
+ The ending is down right epic.

Time for the downfalls:
  • The mapping comes off to me as very amateur. It looks good, but the layout is very confusing, almost as if a bad mapper made it.
  • On top of strange lay outs and odd looks, the map has a bunch of little things you can get caught on. There's nothing more frustrating then getting stuck on something sticking out of the wall while getting shot at, and end up dying.
  • Very tight. Many tight spaces tends to get annoying.
Another note:
  • New medic achievements are kind of stupid, but whatever. I wish they were for fun, and not needed to unlock the new weapons.
  • The new weapons have very little use for me. I love playing medic, so it's not a bias, but they just seem useless for the most part. The only real exception is the Critzkrieg. Love that gun.

On another note, I saw Iron Man last night. Was a pretty good movie, wasn't disappointed with 10 dollars spent (the first time I've EVER paid for a movie with my own cash.) Funny here and there, a lot of action, and was interesting, in a Transformers kind of way.

Didn't catch what happens after the credits, but whatever.

Just saw Cloverfield.

I heard a home theater wouldn't do the movie justice, but my home 'theater' did pretty well.

The movie was well done. Some may think the ending was abrupt, but I like the way it did it as if the tape was actually recovered after this incident.

Probably the best monster movie I've ever seen, too (of course, it's not that hard to beat others).

I hope they do a sequal, because there's so much room for more story. Maybe from other perspectives / a something following a compiled military log. Would be interesting.

I'll give it a 9/10.
