Guess what... I'm mapping. And modelling. And creating materials. :)

Also, I've redone my site now. Both the look and the technical side of it have been polished as it's now written in php.
I'll put up some articles about some visual tricks in Half-Life soon, and some Milkshape -> HL/HL2 tutorials as well when I find some time.

rowleybob pointed out that the download for Detention didn't work anymore. That's fixed now. Thanks rowleybob!

So, if anyone wants to see a 2-years old HLDM map, you can go ahead.

Aside from that I'm quite busy with school and progress on dm_mudanchee is slow, though there is some progress. I'm mainly just writing some programs for school (sudoku-solvers and the like) and writing out some game-concepts.

We'll see what future brings.

Recently, I've seen some people requesting me to review a map for them. That's fine, if I have some free time on my hands I'm happy to do some review/playtesting work.
However, I'm not often actively browsing through the map vaults these days, so if you want me to comment, send me a PM to get my attention.

Again, didn't finish a map. I was getting problems with the layout again. So Vector-Y isn't going to make it. The HL2 textures were boring anyway. So... I decided to pick up work on mudanchee again. i'll be creating custom materials and models for it this time to give it a distinct look. So far, I've got the layout ready (which means I'm likely to finish it this time ;)) and I'm filling in the several area's now.
Mudanchee might take me a while, since school takes it's time and there's a lot of content to be made for this map.

That was just to keep those interested up-to-date.

Before going off on vacation, I wanted to post some screenshots of my current map, Vector-Y.

Check the following screenshots:

It's my entry for the Snarkpit contest. Parts of the map are flipped, hence the Vector in the maps name. Enjoy.

Still mapping, still busy with a load of other things.

Currently I'm working on a map for the Snarkpit competition. Coming along just fine. I'm also working on a Dutch community website, which makes it easier to store usefull links and write articles for us.

Oh, and yesterday I asked someone what she thought my CP logo meant. She said 'Christian Pieter'. Nice one...

Nice updates to the site here, bytheway. Keep it going, Seventh!

True words from Andy...

Although I see mapping or generally design more as a hobby, it would never hurt to get to so something with it later on in my life. And just talking about it won't get me anywhere...
It's time to drop the forum browsing to a lower level and put some more time in real designing.

You see, at a certain point it's easy to rely on just your knowledge and experience. You'll assume that that's enough to get you somewhere, while you forget that it's actually the products you delivered that made you a name.
(Not to forget about attitude... you may want to have to work together with others in the future...)

At the other side... I want to give more time to serve God. Priority number one that is. Then there's school, there's the contacts I so value...
Perhaps I should start to enjoy mapping more, as I once did, so I can see it as an interest once again...

EDIT: You know, I enjoyed TWHL because I had a sort of 'elite' status. My knowledge, my 'answering sprees'...
I'll quit it. I'll get back to the real thing, creating maps, asking feedback, tweaking it and help out a few fellow peers. What value has the respect of those that produce crap, of those that show no maturity? I've seen only few here that I admire, and whose respect I value...

I have submitted my Glass competition entry to the Mapvault now. I wasn't able to finish Guidance, but I think it's still worth a look. Well, judge for yourself, I'd say...

Heh, today it's exactly 1 year ago I joined TWHL...

Phew. Competition entry submitted.

Now, don't be afraid. Due to school I haven't been able to realize most of my idea's. Still some nice visual effects incorporated. Or, well, that's up to you to decide, off course. ;)

Good luck with your entries and good night!

Yes, I've been pretty silent on TWHL recently.

The silence before the glass storm, perhaps? ;)

Thanks Andy! It's nice to be appreciated.

Due to a LAN-party, a vacation job and some other things, I haven't been able to finish my machinery map. Too bad, next time better I guess.

Tomorrow, I'll be leaving towards France and Luxembourg, so I won't visit here for about 2 weeks. So, see ya later, and good luck while I'm out of here! :P

Yes, I'm joining the 'Build a Machine' contest. I've started mapping about 2 days ago after doing some sketching and planning. We'll see how it turns out... :)

You'll find the way... I hope it's comprehendable, since it's not proofreaded yet. So please give me comments on it so I can tweak the tutorial a bit. Succes with it!

Screenshots of my entry for the contest are now available on my portfolio: http://www.websamba.com/captainp-home/portfolio/index.htm

Search for the map called 'The Playtest'.

A download is now available both on my portfolio and on the site. Have fun with it!
