I considered moving to Windows 8 for some time.

Read this.

And this

And Gabe's opinion.

I'm not very convinced anymore. Unfortunately I can't really experience it in a virtual environment due to choppy performance, and I'm not willing to waste a couple of days of moving to Windows 8.
I think I'll wait for Windows 8.1(blue) and see how that fixes some annoying things.

Like many others, I just don't agree with being forced to boot to Metro. Yeah it's nice, but I'm not exactly the illiterate facebook addict that uses his computer just for browsing. I fear windows 8 is a complete failure when it comes to productivity. The desktop- I like. But... switching between Metro and Desktop is confusing.
I'd love a Windows 8 Desktop edition...

Furthermore, Linux distributions are starting to become promising alternatives. Ubuntu might be the star of the show, but there a couple of ubuntu based(debian based) distros that strive to resemble a familiar windows-like environment. Linux Mint is popular, for example. With Wine and Play on Linux, you can run lots of windows apps. It's just that it's not very stable yet.
And there's Zorin OS, which is a Linux distro specifically designed to be a Windows alternative. It comes with a similar interface, and Wine and Play on Linux installed by default.

Ok this is weird. I'm not registered on wikipedia as an editor, I never edited an article, and even if I will, I will do so constructively.
Yet today I see that I've got "a message" on a wiki page. At first I thought some kind of malware got in my PC, but I still clicked it.

Seems like for the IP I currently have (I have a dynamic IP) "I" received several warnings( on articles I never even visited), with a final warning after which I will be blocked from editing.

I'm not really concerned, because tomorrow I'll probably have a new IP, but this raises some questions:
How do PCs on internet are actually identified?
If some guy gets banned on a site and then I receive his IP, what happens?
Or is Wikipedia just broken?

[EDIT] I'm thinking of pasting a link to an interesting website I discover in each journal, or in some at least.

Link #1: Very interesting spore-like game in which you compose music by creating tiny waveform creatures which interact.

Just came back to the dorms. I have a fan blowing my face and I still feel like being in a sauna. AND IT'S NIGHT TIME.
What the heck is with all this sudden heat?!

Why is it that every time I try hard to concentrate on studying, my imagination kicks in even harder? This is a burden.
And when I've got plenty of free time my imagination is sucked into a void.

Math uni looks like real fun when the teacher plots results on the blackboard, but the moment I am given a problem to solve, I'm lost. Watching the teacher writing different equations and formulas that transform like magic in weird geometric figures is interesting and gives me the feel of a geek. It's somewhat like the feeling of watching a geeky film. The feeling is shattered once I realize how fun would it be able to play with such math, but I can't.

Then there's differential equations, which are crap.

Have you guys heard about Coursera?
It's a website where you can enroll in some courses held by different colleges around the world. They are totally free, or so it seems.
But there are a lot of interesting things there, and you even get a certificate for attending them( but I think it is this certificate that isn't free).
  • What is the actual method of "attending" these courses? I couldn't find out, is it participating in some kind of conference like you'd do with google+?
  • Is it compulsory to attend all the hours? If so, this is hard to manage for people with a busy schedule.
  • Finally, what do you think about all this?

A lot of time has passed, and TWHL has been one of the companions in my internet journey over the years.

I just ate peanut butter for the first time. It's actually not bad.

What do you use this stuff on besides eating it as it is?

Mulberries. A delicious fruit I used to eat as a child.

How about you?

Seems like Dacia is getting on the right track with its budget models. I'm not particularly proud, but some of the newer models are beginning too have a better look. Well... except Logan 2, which has a nice front but one of the ugliest backs I've ever seen. That's what happened with the first Logan and it got a facelift.

Here's a video with the newer Sandero(UK review!): linky.

This is just plain amusing. It seems that until now there were some kind of restrictions in UK concerning immigrants, and now their government is planning on cutting these restrictions. Now they fear of a massive invasion of immigrants from eastern countries, especially Romania and Bulgaria.

How do they plan from keeping these immigrants to come to their country?
I cite:

"Please don't come to Britain – it rains and the jobs are scarce and low-paid" -The Guardian

You have to notice that they specifically target these two countries. I think the press or public spokesmen have never mentioned the true reason for this. What country would try to keep out civilized, educated people that hope to get a better life? It's all about gypsies. I'm not a racist, I have personally met gypsies that are educated people who deserve their respect. But it's an unfortunate exception from the rule. Nobody wants to deal with the rest of these people. A lot of them lead a miserable life based on begging, and it's so hard-wired in their culture that they just won't care. The "higher class" part, who are dubiously rich, promote a chav(or how do you say it) culture.
The sad part is that they actually had tradition and folklore, but it was lost as the years past and their old people died.

These are facts I know just by observing, why do publications keep omitting such informations?

I've used a Plantronics Gamecom 367 for 2 years, but a couple of months ago the headband broke, and I've been using electrical tape on them ever since. Needless to say, one of the cups doesn't firmly sit on my ear anymore, and I can feel the broken part pushing on my head.

I'm planning on getting a new headset for Christmas. I'm targeting these: Pioneer SE-M290. They seem to offer good quality for a very convenient price. The downside is that they lack a microphone.

Any opinions/suggestions?

So there's a new face for Youtube. Unfortunately, I don't seem to adapt to this new way of displaying videos. I was used to seeing the videos on the center of the page, and now I feel myself forcing to watch it to the left.

Is there a setting somewhere so I can put it again in the center?
