VeryCoolMoment VeryCoolMomentThis is Indeed a VeryCoolMoment!
Ok so i hope you didnt just randomly click on this but, I cancelled my Steam Deck order over anxiety of it being bad and hard to refund
(Most of you will be angry but) With the money i'll be putting it towards the Macbook Air (The M1 one) in Space Grey
Sure i know ill get messages which is mostly like "Why are you buying a macbook isn't it underpowered?" but the M1 Chip in the Air is Fast, Like Really Fast and the M1 MBA released in 2020 so theres a ton of reviews on the MBA, While the Steam Deck hasn't even been released yet

Ending this here with just this
I might get the Deck in 1-2 years if its any better than its release early this year (The Release Date has been announced just now)

Edit: I'm using the MBA as a Programming and Social machine
This is my first Mac so yeah I might try gaming but like Half-Life or some smaller and lighter games

Not for gaming lol
Just for Development and Social related stuff
(Also the M1 MBA can run CSGO well)

M1 MBA can run what ever you want it to run, its a processor, what you mean here is the operating system, the Apple OS X.
Still, thinking of using a hand held console as a development and social media computer... Too much free time? :)

You're going to have a harder time with games by default on the MacBook Air.

I'm not going to use it for gaming

Why in the world would anyone play anything on a crappy handheld device when you can play it on a big screen at the desk?

Play something decent on a giant screen with a controller instead. I'm working on something that works with that.

I mean real men plays with controllers anyway. You think you can get true skill by mouse and keyboards? Please.

Those m1 macbook pros are genuinely good. I bought a bunch of them for work and they've been reliable location DIT machines & workstations for our Social Media Managers. The thermal throttling is a serious issue, though, so don't expect to do anything too intensive. Rendering a video longer than like 10 minutes for us ends up slowing down massively as the chip heats up and side by side with my computer it's sloooow, but It'll get better as they develop the tech.

They'll never replace the power and task-diversity of a proper computer, but it's good to see Apple actually making something worthwhile again, and even pricing it quite reasonably!

Archie I don't know why thermal throttling would be a problem
Are you like rendering a video in 4K/8K?

Any task that 100%s the CPU for any length of time will do it. Usually on the laptops we're only ever rendering web content in 1080. Our 4k & broadcast output is edited on proper workstations.

The speed falloff as temperatures rise is consistent across all 6 MBPs that we use.

Laptop coolers are a joke.

I agree with one of the previous comments, why bring a handheld with you on the go when you can bring your entire desk on the go

NovaDelta I actually agree but the thing is that i cant really move my desktop
I do have 2 laptops but both are just testing rigs for Operating Systems (One is really old like late 2013 and one has a dying fan that im too lazy to fix)
So hopefully a macbook would fit perfectly into my arsenal of tech products
