You should have some backup .map files here and there(in the .rmf folder and in the Moddir/maps folder), that are pretty much the same as rmf, only they are text-files.

Yeah, env_text uses titles.txt (i think thats the name) for displaying game text.

You'll always have the original sound in the pak/gcf, so theres no need to worry ;)

Just make your own whatever.wav file and place it in valve/sounds/weapons(or monsters).

For example; look at ROOT/sounds/weapons/cbar_miss1.wav and add your own cbar_miss1.wav in valve/sounds/weapons.

Half-lifes filesystem priorities valve folders, not PAKs.

For the creds: Make game_texts (entity guides) or env_texts (forum search).
