Uuh, I think he wants to combine some wads into one. For this;
Open all the wads you want combined -
Create a new wad file.
Drag all the textures from the others into the new one.

Light preview does exist. I Just didnt got it to work.
For light preview to work, you need a compiled .bsp that "tells" hammer how the lighting should be - but hammer just crashed when I tried :(

Compiling was very fast, and pretty stable, ofcourse I only tried with a small map, but still.
The lighting and graphics pretty much dissapointed me as they looked worse than HL1 :P But im sure you'll have to learn how to master them.

Are you sure it 'locks up'? have you tried just letting it go?
Try compiling without RAD and VIS as these take time.

a) Info_player_start, item_suit, func_Door_rotating, trigger_multiple, infodecal, a Coke machine prefab (very cool), weapon_alyxgun (no model or animations), npc_citizen, light, info_node.
Just testing triggers, lights, etc.

b) two npc_antlions, lots of info_nodes, func_rotating, lights, monster_fastzombie.
Testing the npcs and how they fight eachother. The npc_citizens were idiots.

c) Pretty much the same, only you can see the in-hammer models.

d) In-game screenshots of the antlions and citizens and the zombie fighting.

Yes, I have the real hammer 4.0.
But since we're not supposed to discuss warez or pirated software im not going into that.

Now, Hammer4 is just like normal hammer - I havent experimented much with it, but its basically the same.
You can split faces and still not touch the brush, like in that screenshot, I have no idea how that works though.

Set the breakable of the func_breakable (that is the chickens body) to trigger a game_text.
"The chicken" is built like this;
A cycler_sprite has a chicken.mdl as its sprite - it shows the chicken, but its not solid.
A func_breakable is around the chicken, with rendermode texture and render amt 0.

When the invisible breakable is destroyed, it targets the cycler_sprite, and an chicken noise (ambient_generic), so the chicken goes away. You could also make it trigger a game_text.

Tbh, I cant remember the process, but it's quite complicated...
see www.good-tutorials.com for some really neat tutorials - also lookit mine here ;)

Just play around with render clouds, levels, lightning effects, etcetra to get what you want.

That's just a repeated animation - use env_sprite to insert the model into your map.
For making the model "move"... you cant.

Half-life 2 will be/is using Hammer 4.0. It's pretty much the same as Hammer, with some extended options and shiz.
