What's the big deal? Does anyone go and look in the vault? I mean really look. I did a little while ago and there are some really good maps in there. I'm talking about going back to page 11 to see the really old maps...

Depends on your definition of a simple solution.

Compile your map. When it runs, drop down the console and type in 'pointfile'. A series of dots will fill your map. Follow them to find out where the leaks are. I'm not posting anymore as it gets a little tireing writing the same things over and over again. Search the forums (Top Right hand corner).

Old news. I heard this ages ago. There was an online petition to get someone to make a movie on Half-Life. Who knows? Perhaps it'll happen. Look at Metroid. A film is in the works!

Waldo is the sidekick???

If I remember correctly the characters in the book are:

Wally - The guy you gotta find
Wizard Whiteboard - The old wizard dude
Wanda - Wally's friend/girlfriend/life long partner
The dog - All you see is the tail
Outlaw - Evil Wally clone

Suprised I actually remember that... :zonked:

why would you need a XP boot disk. since they did away with DOS theres no need for it anymore.
For those people who still like DOS and its versatility. Combine DOS with XP. Its a great combination!

Thats the way! Nice to hear you figured it out. One point though: When your posting maps on the net, use Winzip to zip your files as it is the probably the most popular program. Besides, TWHL uses zip files!

Version 3.5 is merely a new .exe file that replaces the old .exe file in the Hammer folder. Once you've unzipped the models (Pak Explorer works quite well) and attained the updated fgd you can view all the models in Hammer. This is quite useful for scaling the map to suit the player and also to position certain models (i.e. Sitting scientists).

ARGH! I know what I did wrong now! For the benifit of members I shall explain. It is quite simple. When you are setting the options for the compile, 'Change Directory' and 'Copy File' need to be selected not typed! Thanks for your help anyway Alex!

Yes it exists. I'm running Windows XP and I am the administrator. It doesn't make sense. The Half-Life Expert compile uses the same directory settings yet it runs perfectly. I basically copied that one for Spirit except for the last bit and it doesn't work!

Also, I can't have permission access to folders because my drive is a FAT32 formatted one. Don't you need an NTFS file system to use password access on folders?

No offence, but that is a considerabally boring task for many members here. Why not do it yourself? When your in your map type 'pointfile' into the console (you might want to type 'gl_clear 1' if your using OpenGl mode). A series of dots will appear. Trace the dots. Whenever it intersects through a brush is a leak. Open Hammer and fix em!

The Windows XP boot disk is missing some important stuff. For example, if you can't be assed changing the BIOS so that it boots from a CD you'll need a Windows 2000, ME or 98 boot disk as the XP version doesn't load the drivers for CD support. I keep two ME boot disks handy. I would recommend a 98 boot disk if you really need one. Find someone with 98 on their computer and make a boot disk.
