You'll need the .SMD exporter plugin and probably a copy of milkshape 3D to convert that SMD from Source to Goldsource and compile it. (MS3D supports both)
You may be able to just shove the Source SMD into a GS compiler, but I doubt that would work.

How do we know it doesn't happen?
But as for the ending, that's what ultimately left me unsatisfied. It creates a time paradox where the entire events of the movie did not happen. (Maybe 10%) And they ignored the paradox completely, because everything was still the same in regards to the actions of the older copy and reaction to those actions, which never could have happened because he ceased to exist long before he had a chance to do that in his personal timeline.

As one of my friends put it: "It didn't happen. We didn't watch a movie just now. We stared at a blank screen for 2 and a half hours."

Yes yes, let's all find a nice scapegoat. One that is considered a minority interest so there won't be a massive uproar if it gets blamed. So much better than pointing the finger at society. Because blaming the thing that actually causes these events could result in changes that prevent it in the future.

CT: The fun and allure of minecraft is something that I find hard to put into words. So I'm going to paraphrase other people I've discussed the topic with:

It's pure creativity. It's like an infinite lego set where you can always find the right piece. You can dig down to the bottom of the earth, or build a tower in the heavens.

Also, it's hella cheap compared to most other sandbox games and there are tons of mods for it.

The lesser-spotted good natured human being
An increasingly rare specimen, this breed of human is known for it's charming coat and ability to increase the happiness level of others. It's twin mating calls, known as "kindness" and "love" are generally regarded as being two of the three most wonderful things in the world, after cake.
Sadly, these noble creatures are being hunted to extinction by greed, and losing their habitat due to the development of new massive cities and "Social norms"
Please, donate to the The lesser-spotted good natured human being protection fund today.

T'was a pretty shitty apocalypse, and I didn't learn a single thing at school that day either due to the fact that 95% of the school didn't show up and classes were canceled as a result.
But I spent the evening/night with some basically all of my friends, most of whom I hadn't seen in months. So that was awesome.

All the news over here is saying is that her body was found.
Of course, IMO, whether the so-called "DJs" that made that call are responsible for her suicide or not, they are disgusting pieces of trash.
Their idea of a joke is to impersonate others to try and get confidential medical information, which makes them no better than paparazzi.

And the zinger? (or what would have been if not for the unfortunate death)
The reason the Duchess was in hospital in the first place was likely due to side effects from the fact she was trying to prevent the press finding out about her pregnancy because they would cause a massive shitstorm over it.

Seeing the title and part of the above post only, I came in with the following post in mind:
"So, The Ship then. But good."
Then I realized you were talking about the ship and not a similar concept in a Fallout 3 mod.
I tried the goldsource "beta" of TS. It was alright at first, but then it quickly got boring.

That said, the compo itself is interesting. But why is custom content kept to a minimum? Surely you don't want brush-based vault doors using stock HL2 metal textures?

in Ragdoll Netting Post #310818
I think your best bet would be to model the net as a sheet with a net material on it, rather than model each string on the net individually, as you'll get better performance from it.
As for the source-specific stuff, you'll want to check out the Valve wiki, since we don't really have much in the way of modelling documentation here.
You'll likely want to make it a prop_physics set to motion disabled in hammer (so it doesn't fall), and give it a grid of jigglebones. Make sure you use collision joints rather than a collision mesh, since you want the net to deform.

I hope this helps, I'm no expert on the subject of modelling for source by any means.

Only semi related, but I was in Toronto today, and I saw a nice scene whist leaving the city; a path next to a meandering river, with round stones on the shoreline and a rock wall in the side of the hill on the other side. All of this under the overpass I was traveling on.

It was picturesque for an urban locale, I think.

I only started signing up for communities and forums when I started mapping for and modding games. I had no clue what to use, so I went with my first name and a capital 'mod' because back then whenever I had seen someone use the term, it was always capitalized.

It was a crappy idea mixed with a short amount of time but by now it's used in so many places it's not really worth changing, especially when I still can't think of anything better. But hey, it's descriptive(ish) and not exactly common, so I guess it works.

I thought the main quest of Skyrim was to defeat Alduin? Does this mean I haven't 'finished' the game yet?
Really, I'd like a third option for the civil war: Negotiate Peace between the Legion and the Stormcloaks, and kill the hell out of the Aldmeri Dominion.

"Guys, guys! GUYS! Neither of you are really against Talos worship, are you? Empire, you're just enforcing a treaty you were forced to sign. You're not happy about it. This war is doing noone any good. You know who it is doing good for? The Thalmor. You are killing each other off, weaking yourselves, so the Thalmor can swoop down and exterminate any survivors when the dust settles. So instead of killing each other, why don't we kill them instead?"

I think reissues had some, and I'm fairly sure the citizens at least weren't ported. I seem to recall they had the face and hair of Gearbox's HD dead barneys from BS.

There's nothing wrong with using the vanilla models Valve made, but IMO, if you're going HD, you should go all the way, past what gearbox made. Personally, I find Ambient.Impact's website has some of the best HL NPC models available, by himself and Romka. They surpass gearbox's efforts in quality by far. Of course, it's your mod, your tastes.

Really looking forward to the final product, LE was a classic, and this promises to be one too!

in Level change problem Post #310251
Landmarks always have to be in the same position relative to the rest of the area the level change is in. You can move the geometry around, but you have to move the landmark with it. Otherwise, the best case scenario is that the level change isn't seamless. The player could get stuck in a wall, the void, etc, if this isn't the case. I could be wrong, but I think this is the cause of the player dying on level change.
Also, make sure the landmarks have the exact same name if they don't already.

Had a chance to watch the trailer. (With no sound, though, didn't have access to my headphones or a set of speakers at the time) It's looking pretty good. I do have one question, though. The NPC models being used appear to be gearboxes' HD models, are they being distributed with the mod, or are they just the models you have in your Valve folder?

Even if maps for the jailbreak gamemode are generally comfortable and fancy, that doesn't mean you should break your map's sense of place to match the standard. If you're using get a setting that works with comfortable surroundings, by all means make it comfortable. But the citadel just isn't one of those places.

The Combine don't really care about comfort, you know? Don't get me wrong, the map has some really good parts (I especially like the shape of the ceiling and the skylights) but it seems like it has two themes that just don't match up.

Door Mats
As a piece of flooring, door mats can be very useful. They provide traction. A place to wipe your feet. You can get ones that say "Welcome" or "Piss Off". They provide a hiding place for spare keys so cliched that most people wouldn't consider you might actually use it.

But they're not perfect. Suppose you step in poop. When you go to wipe your feet on your door mat, the poop is transferred to it, and it gets dirty and smells like poop. And it is extremely hard to wash things out of a door mat, especially if they're the ones made of coarse fiber carpeting, or, god forbid, the same material they use to make shag rugs.

7/10 for Floor Mats.
