Trying to short a connection on the mobo to turn it on?
Just stick a paperclip (or a piece of wire, preferably) in between the green wire and a black one.

I've done it on more than one occasion.

Slightly risky, yes :P

Something like this is more of a journal post, really. Not sure how much discussion you can really get out of this.

With that, I'd say this is either a scammer or a genius. If gamerpoints are that important for people to pay for them, then more power to the person getting paid.

If it's done well, it will be truly epic.

I keep forgetting how there needs to be a 'series' of maps for L4D levels, making there so many possibilities.

The extreme edition is 1k, yes, but the others are around 400-600, I think.

Still, it's not the CPU you'll have to worry about, it's the other components to take advantage of such power. Such as fast enough (DDR3) RAM, a good motherboard, and a great graphics card.

It'll be a pretty penny.

Far Cry 2 - I'll 'get' it for PC, but I'm gonna borrow it from my friend for PS3. I know it's gonna suck because it's an FPS on a console, but FFS my computer will never handle it. I guess I could play it on my brother's, though. (I want to play this. Badly)

The only other game:

Left 4 Dead - I don't "OMGIWANTTHIS" game, but I'm getting it because it's by Valve. Valve is made of win and god. I'm gonna trust their judgments.

I'll also 'get' Mirror's Edge just to try it out, too.

It's true that cards can stand up to high heats, but if it was the problem, then who cares, really.

Mine idles at 50 Celsius all day. During game play I think it goes to mid 60's.

Yah, out of the ordinary lag issues is usually always a heating issue. Especially when it occurs after a certain amount of time every time you play.

No problem :o

Sounds a lot like overheating.

Make sure everything's cool.
I suggest getting Everest and doing a stress test. It'll watch your CPU / general temps and voltage as it pushes your computer to the maximum capacity.

What kind of card do you have (AIT or Nvidia)? If it's Nvidia, get Ntune:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/ntune_5.05.54.00.html

I do believe it has a graphics stress tester.

For ATI get ATiTool:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/ntune_5.05.54.00.html

I hear it works for Nvidia card stressing, too.

You should run those stress tests at the same time, as long as Ntune / ATiTool is only stressing your graphics card and not everything else like Everest does.
