Yeah, the game is awesome like that. I built and enchanted a bunch of junk just to increase my skills so I can get really good at it. It's really nice how Bethesda lets you build your own extremely powerful gear from scratch, as long as you have the right skills and materials. I hope to one day have a massive enchantment score, so I can enchant my gear and not make it something crappy like I did with my ebony bow. (Still the best bow I've come across, and it's better than a standard one, but not by much)

I was imprisoned for a crime I didn't commit. (again) What happened was, I walked into town, saw a murder, began to investigate, then the town guards framed me for another murder they did, and tossed me in prison. This was not a nice prison, with beds. This was a work-but-not-release prison. I broke out. I got my stuff, and got the hell out of town, and I'm probably not going to that nice-architectured hellhole ever again.

I think the mp3 has to be uncompressed. Try taking a look at the gamestartup.mp3 of another mod and see it's properties (channels, bitrate, etc.), then modify yours to match using audio software.

Brendan: Well, I had a sword, and magic. While it was hard on my health, it wasn't exactly hard to do. Besides, I wasn't going to kill an innocent person for her, and I was tired of her underlings trying to kill me.
(Okay, I did kill one of them, but that was me going back to a previous save to see if I could solve the puzzle. I didn't want to join the DB, at least not in this playthrough.)
As for the party, that's part of the main storyline.

Warning: The following post contains spoilers, if not explicitly stated.
I went to bed one (ingame) night in my home, and woke up to a rather lovely lady sitting on a cupboard in a blood-covered shack. She informed me that I had infringed on one of her jobs, and for compensation, I would not be able to leave the shack until I killed someone. She laid three potential victims in front of me, and told me to go ahead.

As it turned out, she had really nice enchanted gear.

I also attended a rather nice party where I saw a few familiar faces. Luckily, one of them owed me a favor from when I saved her town from vampires, and I was able to slip away and get some food from the kitchens. As well as a few interesting books and some sword wounds.

Thanks, the M16A4 or the M1911? They're both Colt products.
Touche. I meant the M1911, I forgot that the M16 was manufactured by them. Although now that I can see the full image of the M16, it's great too.

Looks pretty good, if a bit...exaggerated in certain areas. Maybe a bit too big for realism. They also need to wear a ridiculous tie as per Employee Dress Code Section C-28b. I'm assuming there are four heads like the basic scientist?

As for modelling, I got into it to supplement my mapping and modding in general, but as it turns out I'm not very good. Which is why I haven't shared any of my terrible eyesores. Also, Crollo, that is a damn sexy colt.

Decided to try my hand at enchanting items tonight. Took apart my Imperial Bow of Burning to learn how to make things do fire damage, then enchanted my more powerful (and upgraded) ebony bow. The way I did it it only does 1 extra point of fire damage, (I assume it's ongoing, haven't tested yet) but it'll do that extra point for over a thousand uses.
I might enchant my sword when I get a chance, too.

Skyrim has Aurora Borealis. It's almost as good as the real thing, but with a smaller range of colours and movement. I urge you guys to look up at the sky during night in the frigid northern half of the map.

I'm playing as an archer and sneaking around a lot
What a coincidence. Me too.
About to leave Whiteridge after getting a bodyguard. Not very far in, but I'm definitely enjoying it. Can't wait to see what the rest of the world has to offer.
The interface is a bit different, but I'm starting to adjust to it. FO3's pip-boy was much simpler to use.
EDIT: It's significantly harder to go on a murderous rampage in Skyrim than the Fallout titles. This is likely a good thing. Unless you seriously want your character to go on a murderous rampage for keeps. Bethesda seems to have taken themselves more seriously as well, but fortunately not 100%. The end of one of the Lockpick skill books in particular made be laugh my arse off. The one thing the game is missing is the ability to pick things up. Once I get a house, I foresee having difficulty decorating it with random books and items. Also I have to shout to get corpses to fall off bridges.
Now for some less review-y text: So far interesting things I have seen:
*The ethereal form of the Headless horseman. I swear it's true. I would have caught him too, if I hadn't gotten attacked by a wolf.
*A speaking statue.
*A flying horse with a rider. 95% sure it was a glitch.
*Ridiculously overpowered giants. I can kill a freaking dragon with no problem, but two hits from a monster under half the size with no fire kills me and sends me flying literally into the stratosphere.
*Hours of fun

Joe: That looks a sight better than the other HD 'gus' construction remakes I've seen. You even got a custom face texture true to the original, instead of reusing Otis' face. Are you going to remake the old animations too, or reuse some barney/scientist ones?

Ugh. Too many spoilers in that description. Now there's no point in playing the mod, because we already know exactly what will happen, down to the ending. It does seem like a solid base, which can be made into a great mod, but perhaps you want to shorten the part you've revealed, and add the "sequel" as the second half of the mod?
EDIT: Perhaps the first part of the mod could be, instead of a mindless scientist slaughter, a stealthy escape from the labs as the player (perhaps weakened due to lack of armor/under 100 HP) avoids security forces (Barneys, and maybe a few Hgrunt shotgunners using a custom model with the barney meshes instead of the soldier ones) and scientists (who could alert security either by running to them, calling for help, or hitting alarms) on their way out. Give them only a weak melee weapon and make sure there are no readily available supplies, and you could create a tense feeling in the player. (The trick would be to do this without making it annoying) Maybe you could get a coder who can do a shadow-based stealth system (or fake one by using creative entity setups)
Just think of all the cool stuff you could do! (And don't reveal it to the general public if it has to do with the plot)

I seem to recall I had this problem the first time I used Hammer. It turned out I didn't have an .fgd that was registered in my game config. You'll need a half-life .fgd (or equivalent for the mod you're mapping for) before you can map properly. Unfortunately, VERC is long gone, so the fgd link in the Links section won't help, and I don't know of anywhere else to download it.

So last night I cleared out the first dungeon I've encountered on my main survival world. I went in, popped a few torches, quickly attacked the spawner with my sword, broke it, took the loot and left.
I then realized that I wasn't lucky, but merely still had the game set on peaceful from my last jaunt through creative mode. Having world-dependent difficulties would be a nice touch.

Try experimenting with masters on visible turrets, to see if you can disable them from firing. Then combine that with an env_render.

Failing that, an invisible func_wall_toggle in front of the turret might help, but possibly won't do too well depending on where the player can go.

I hate to bring this back up, but I want Herobrine in the game, a very rare sight but some creepy stuff happens when he comes.
As much as I hate dimbark going on about him, I agree. Notch should discreetly reintroduce him (and find a way to make him invisible to modders) to keep the creepy ghost story alive.
Maybe have the default character skin stay in the game even when the player is using a custom one, but also replace the eyes with different boxes that are completely white?
