I too can only see the top one, but can see the missing one at http://img402.imageshack.us/my.php?image=btlogo25vg.jpg which is odd, should of worked, html isn't broken either. Both look good, what did you make them in? And cow, i could help with the training map, considering it was my idea and i had already made one, it's the least i can do. You could either make a place outside, with different targets at different distances, forest in the background etc. Or a complex of rooms inside, some without lights etc, to test (eventually) our new night vision technology out. Each room with targets, that when you shoot them, they go down for several seconds, then come back up, or perhaps like ragdolls with a terrorist texture on that can be shot for points or to gain access to the next level/missions.

Hey guys what's the latest? Are you using another site for the forum or? Sorry i haven't been able to help much, i think the problem i'm having is with the motherboard now lol. So i guess i'm just going to have to buy a new one this week and then go from there. Shame i can't afford to update my system completely :(. Anyway yeah i could still help out in the mean time, with ideas etc but unless you're writing on another forum it looks like there isn't as much enthusiasm for this anymore?

Thx man, well i acutally built this computer and have made quite a few over the years. One of the first things i did when i got back was check if the american security services hadnt broken it lol, cause they specially selected me (like i was a terrorist) for checks at the airport and opened up my computer, which i'd packed very carefully (we'll have to put that in the mod, 'innocent man wrongly accused goes nuts at the airport' lol). Anyway it seemed ok and i formatted the computer, and put all new software on including the C++ stuff we need. I know it's either the cpu or gpu, one of the fans has a bad bearing, which is either causing heat problems (although from my monitoring software they're not over-heating), therefore lag problems, or the actual processor is failing and having to draw more power, making more heat and making the fan go faster, which could i guess make the bearings go abit.
Got that 3D Mark to see where my system is lacking in power, but havent had time to run it yet. I'll sort it all out though, even if i have to buy a new set of fans, or even a new cpu/graphics card.

Yeah and i kinda agree with freshed, this time away from working on the mod has given a chance to look at some of the other mod sites and for example that 'no more room in hell' mod has a great movie download to advertise their mod, which has got me excited about playing it. Although there isnt actually any screen shots or anything about the mod in the video, just looks cool lol. All the mod sites ive been to seem pretty organised.

Well my friend I say you have a vote, with all the team agreeing to continue on with the new concept of the game (all the changes), wait for everyone to write a reply with how they feel this mod is going & how it should go on. Once everyone is happy with the basic structure of the mod, you can then start by assigning realistic tasks, which the team members are comfortable with.
There's some good guys in here who have done some good work, but I feel you have lost the motivation of the mod because of all the changes. Maybe you should stick to something simple, how it was in the begining, which first attracted these guys including myself.
I understand this is your second attempt at this mod right? You don't wanna start a third, so I think if you really wanna make this work you have to devote more time to it yourself. Be the driving force behind it, keep up the momentum, instead of spending your time on other projects like making maps with machines that eat civillians. You really could of made T-Tab yourself by now, which would of at least been one thing finished, one thing that could of been used to inspire everyone else & keep the mod alive...

True, what i was talking about is that valve said they were going to actually have a version of xsi on SDK, just like they said they were going to put a free version of visual C++ on SDK too. Although i own .NET so that shouldn't be a problem, just gotta retrieve it from europe.
Incidently, the 'mod tool' version of xsi is only like a demo version of (u see demo written all over the polygons), i guess it's ok to use and all but a bugger to get hold of from all the different websites you have to sign up to. I just think valve could of made things easier by just putting all these things ready on SDK (like they said they would) for people interested in using this software. Half the problems i've had with this mod is getting all this stuff lol...

No joke I'm afraid. But I'm actually going to be travelling out there soon, it's a hastle to take the pc back, but really need to format C and sort out all this bs software, while I'm out that way :).

I have looked around and tested a few other compilers, but they don't work so good either, check this out. "Valve suggests that you use Visual C++ .NET 2003. It's possible to get other compilers to work, but your results may vary".

Yeah more like won't work! This is what p*sses me off about valve, they say they're gonna do something and never do it like saying, oh we've been working closely with Microsoft (or SoftImage etc), to bring you free versions of these tools on SDK. Well I think it's bs! how many years do they have to talk to these companies to sort it out?
I guess the real problem is that there isn't enough demand in the community for these things, therefore why invest time and money in to it...

Current price for Visual C++ .NET 2003 Standard, $109 US. Do they seriously expect gamers to pay more than double the cost of the actual game itself, just for something like this??

Sup group, finally got a chance to look @ the code stuff for the mod, but of course there is a problem lol. My visual studio is alittle out of date, had to get rid of it for another version. The new one didn't work out either and after trying to revert back, the old version wouldn't work as well as it did, not that it really ever did, but now it really doesn't work lol. But never fear, Sm0k3y is here :D, I actually own a copy of the right version that is needed, the whole .NET package! Although you won't be pleased to find out that the CD's are 3,500 miles away, locked in a safe. Another small problem is, I have the only key 4 the safe, here with me lmao. So a solution would be to post this key to someone I know along with my house key, ask them to go to my house and retrieve these discs, so they can send them to me.

Give it about about 3 weeks possibly 5 & I might be able to start lol :-s unless of course someone knows where I can get this C++ Compiler?

Come on cow just show us! you have to now, cause you made a big deal out of it. What you are doing is you're trying to make a fool out of me to hide the fact you dont know what you're talking about. And to hide from everyone that you haven't done ANYTHING to the mod so far. If you have done things the RIGHT way and NOT added 1000's of extra files to your mod folder you should have something like this below (how did you 10X the amount I've got?).

Cow you really are mad lol, so now tell me how did you manage to make 1481 files & 17 folders of extra code without even the knowledge to compile? What i think you've done is just put all the stuff associated with the mod in to that main (what you say is only code) folder.
And what do these dll files have to do with anything, you can't compile in to dynamic link libraries (DLL) files as u put it. What good would sending just 2 files that dont have anything to do with how i edit the code be anyway?

I wanna see screenshots of your 380mb folder (cause its just an excuse not to send me what you have done) and i wanna see screenshots of these .dll files cause you told me you havent been able to compile anything, so how did you come to find out about these files?

Edit: Yeah i know its just bs monkey, i just want him to admit it (completed mods arent even anywhere near that big)...

You, make a SP remake through Source SDK and edit that code as we need it to be for the mod, and then, compile it into the 2 DLLs and send them to me!

Cow, you could tell me a thousand times and i still wouldnt understand how you made a 30-40mb folder in to a 380mb folder (u sure u dont mean 38mb?). And what is it with these mysterious DLL files? there isn't any .dll files in there, there is a couple of folders which have 'dll' in the title, but what do they have to do with "compile it into the 2 DLLs"?

Just upload the files you have edited (which I'm not so sure you have done any so far) to your site in a zip folder. If you can't find or don't know the ones you have changed to make the mod you currently have, then maybe we need to talk about all this (again).

P.S. Have you got the forum working now? Did you make a name and pass for me?

man i was just editing that last message damn!! lol, anyway ill put it here, daub i assume u and pepper are in charge if cow isnt here (soon to go on his trip). well i need access to the site, name/pass etc. Feeling abit overwhelmed with all this stuff, having to start the code from scratch (until cow gives me what hes done so far), making that forum, making the map, models etc, even trying to learn to skin & uv-map cause im not sure we have one? Anyway its real tough and i hear people that have been doing it for years are still learning, apparently its a real 'art' lol.

Oh and yes i do catch cow on msn every once in a while (caught him yesterday), but he avoids the subject of giving me the code or says things i dont understand, what to do...................
What kinda got me was (regarding the mappers), he wants us to do these maps real quick, just the base of them, dont put this or that in for now, someone else will take care of that later, well i dont like to work like that, maybe im too much of a perfectionist, but i like to do the map or whatever im doing right the first time, with no flaws or as little as possible. Maybe im too impatient, sorry..

OMFG I just spent almost an hour writing in here yesterday and it didn't even print to screen in the thread!! Didn?t have the time to rewrite it all then, but here goes nothing now?

Yes Hollywood it's time to get serious about this! And yes Daubster I have seen your concept of the SWAT guy which is a good start! But I think we really need to decide the fundamentals of this mod (is it SWAT or Special Forces?). Because I think we?re going all over the place at the moment and haven?t put anything in concrete yet.
A few days back Cow and I discussed the fact that SWAT guys would not be sent off around the world (as was originally intended) taking out terrorists or anyone else for that matter, as they are assigned to local police (U.S.). So we talked about a special force (which he named Blue Thunder), who would need some organisation (UN ? doesn?t sanction military action) or person (Jon Martins ? General Martins?) telling them where to go and what to do.
In my humble opinion this story lacks a lot of depth and I think we should get together and decide on what needs improvement ASAP (before we lose more time working on something we may not use for the final version). After all this idea has been done to death on so many other games, so unless this mod has something unique which no one has done before (which I doubt we are capable of right now) then I think people out there will be put off the whole idea straight away & just revert back to CS, Rainbox Six or SWAT4.
Also the mappers will find it difficult to make these different locations (Red Square in Moscow, Sydney Habour Bridge etc). Otherwise if you just make generic backgrounds and similar looking towns, how will you distinguish where the player is at?
Anyway I?m sure we can all agree on one thing, that we want this mod to be very good & exciting enough for people to want to download it at least. So I propose that we rewrite the script a little and set it a little bit further in the future (2008 was Raven Sheilds time). Cause then we can take advantage of the fact that this ?task force? (or SWAT) can be using state of the art technology, weapons/protection. All we have to do is find some stuff on the net, which is under the ?development stage?. And I feel this would jazz up the mod and give it better appeal, as opposed to using the same old stuff (this isn?t set in the 1980?s) and the same old scenarios.
Anyway, I can research all this, come up with some examples of what I?m talking about and run it by you to see what you all think, of course as SECONDARY option to what we currently have (I don?t want to step on anyone?s toes)?

Oh and Cow, please tell me exactly what you have done with the mod (and code) so far. Don?t forget you are only given the barebones stuff in there, to write the code to integrate into the software, you need a c++ compiler, which begs the question, what have you been using? lol. You can still edit the files with notepad as they're still only text files, but to compile them into the mod (and hence the game) you need a C++ compiler. The Microsoft one is used as it has all the features they use, as well has having a pre-configured config file for the environment and the correct compile options.

Man how many times do I have to tell you, I went to college for this. So yes I do know how to code, although as you know this is my first mod, you don't just go in and start typing away on someone elses (valve's) code like you made it. I have to look at it first, but I've been busy making the first map, which is almost complete. Started modelling for the first time 2 days ago (xsi isn't easy for a novice) & I've already made my first set of models. I've only been on this mod for what a week and now I'd very much like to know what the rest of the team has done so far, especially Daubster...

Omg Cow it was only a joke, I thought you might of got it when I started talking about getting paid, let alone getting paid millions of dollars. I doubt any gaming team gets paid those ridiculous amounts, I'm not interested in money for this, or even getting noticed. However what I am interested in is learning how to make a mod, models, maps etc etc, which no one else seems to be doing around here.
It's funny I've read right through this whole thread, there's alot of people making funny comments about this mod, basically ripping the piss out of you cow, but you don't say anything to them.

Well I?ve been thinking, if valve can sell HL2 for $54 and half the reason for buying the game is for CS. That means that if BT (Blue Thunder) is going to be better than CS like Mr Cow says, he could probably sell each copy for about $30. So if say 1 million people buy BT like Mr Cow said they would, he should have about $30 million dollars in his back pocket (which he told me to keep hush hush from the rest of the members). Of course I understand that Valve and Steam?s cut might be a few million, plus there?s taxes to consider, but I think I should get something for all this hard work! I mean I'm doing like 3 different jobs so I should get paid tripple. And yes Hollywood I?ve already started court proceedings, my lawyer thinks I have a good chance to at least own 51% of the BT company :D Come on guys, it's time to fight for your share of BT!! Don't let Mr Cow steal money from you while you're working like a slave for him. Who votes for getting paid up front?

Edit, Look i've just talked to my lawyer he said that if Mr Cow settles out of court for $2,530 everything should be ok...

I guess he means Yahoo Instant Messenger (YIM) but I don't know why he thinks it's so bad. Has the clearest sound for send and recieve voice communication out of any IM (Instant Messenger) I know of, without the lag you get in others. You get 1GB of free email space plus hosting space for websites, chat room access, private chat rooms, or even conferences. Much better than exposing your IP and ports in MIRC (easier), where I believe you can't voice right? Plus you can drag and drop files (of up to 100MB) in to private message windows. So yeah I'd go with Yahoo anyday over IRC...

On msn? I often check but rarely see him on, I guess he's busy with other things? I did speak to him on msn the other day, was quite interesting as we talked about the mod for a while until he had to go. But I wish I could talk to everyone, all together for a lengthier period. So we could sort out the fundamental scenario and decide on everything as a team. Although of course I understand the leaders will have final decisions...

Edit: Can even make forum while I'm waiting, so we can start giving some real solid input, have different categories for different tasks, which would be more private from here, cause what is to stop someone else making SWAT using our ideas, & the way things are going they could probably finish it before we have even decided on the name by this rate lol jk

Hey guys,

That last post of mine was a joke of course (out of frustration) and yes I do know the basic story of the SWAT based mod. Although I would be interested in working on a zombie based mod one day, have you seen the 'no more room in hell' highlights? Amazing, like so many others out there (including black mesa source, by rabid from here). I believe there is roughly 2000 mods in the works as of now. Which I find kind of frustrating seeing as we seem to be doing nothing and can't get together to brainstorm. I know some good work has been done, such as pepper's excellent models, slasher's map and daubster's work too. And of course Cow's concept of the game because without him and his work, we wouldn't be here. I believe this can be a very good mod, but I need something to do! I have all the free time in the world right now (where is everyone else??) and want to start ASAP on something even if it's just motivating the team or giving sugestions. I'm going to start trying to learn how to make a mod, model and improve on map making & texture skills so I can be a real asset to the team.
So please, leaders of the group (or anyone), tell me to start on something or tell me to shove off! lol, cause either way I'm going to make an awesome mod one day, & if I do get fired for saying all this I would still give full credits to everyone in this thread for helping inspire me. Thanks...

I second the motion :D. Erm don't have a MODDB account. Maybe we should just call the game HL2:sauce, remake all the levels for HL2, but make them saucier :D and don't forget cow, we need to put plenty of coke cans in this one, cause i think it will cost us alot to make! Possibly even put some bigmacs in it too, cause we could do with some extra sponsors. That reminds me, I'm working on some Nike skins for all the boots that the SWAT men and zombies are gonna wear...

P.S. Made some concept art for the zombies, now i know this one has a gun in his hand, but do you think perhaps abit too much makeup on the lips??

Great!! :D I've always wanted to work on such a project oh and thanks for your kind comments about my maps. Erm hl2 mapping? Well I guess it's all the same, hammer, textures..? You mean like they have it designed in the future? Entity placing? Sure. Would love to see what you have so far, do we just talk in here or via some messenger, I wanna give input :D!

Well I made a knock-off version of their site, but was mysteriously taken down, made another, same happened. So as it stands they have not been willing to take my map (which they changed, renamed and claim as theirs) off their server. I guess all I can do is learn from my mistakes and thank you all for helping me :D...

And anyone that wants to know, I created all these MAPS, no other person!
