in My model Post #178884
I'm making a chandleir model. It's going to hang on a long chain. My problem is: how to make the chain. Make each link by it self or create two planes with a transerent chain texture. The model wont be too close to the player so the two plane chain wont look too horrible, it will also lower the epoly count, which will be good for I will fill the room with the lamps with grunts. Last time when I made the room it had 11000 epolies.(it's the living room in breen's house in my compo entery, I'm remaking that map) Making it from two planes will be easier too.

If your post is the last one in the thread you can edit it. The word [edit] apears next to your name. You don't have to double post.

I know it's hardly noticible and I bagged seventh to turn it into a normal button, like the post button, for ages.

in [WIP] Horror Map! Post #178734
It's really dark, sometimes too much. Even for a horror map. The pic before the last two, is way too dark. The whole room is pitch black and only the door is lit. Horror maps are sepposed to be dark but not pitch black. Add atlist some VERY dim lights in other places of that room. If not dim then make them flicker using the costum apearence. Make it that they will most of the time be off but once in a few seconds flicker. Write some thing like this: zzzzzzbbaaaaaetzzzheeeeduyzzzzzzzzzzzzzzkcaaaaaafzzzzzzzzzzz

Forget the ctrl+f thingy. Just write door in the find field and press go.

There are 1100 topics with that word so you better search for a diffrent thing. Add more words like- Door opens from only one direction.

Clipping is good as long as the two ends of the clipping line stays on the edges of the block you are going to clip. Don't clip many objects at once unless you are sure no subgrid vertical will be created. Wise clipping might save you alot of time and effort, sometimes even invaild solids.

Edit:

Carving with cubes wont create invaild solids, you fool.

Carving isn't bad! It can save some time. It's only bad if you carve with anything else then a block, and then you can't clip the block you wanted to carve into less parts then hammer does. No tool is bad, this includes hollowing!(well maybe the path tool is useless)

in Sky problem Post #178426
-noskyclip removes the clipnodes from the sky not adding them. You are probebly using an old version of ZHLT or Q-Tools. Update!

If that doesn't work do it manually, place clip brushes in places the player can touch the sky.

in Script question Post #178093
Saco that'll be really nice. I think I'll just make the apache a prisoner and make two env_beams with a glow in their end as missles. The end of the beam will follow a invisible func_train that will trigger the explotions. After the missles explodes I'll just kill the beams and trains.

Much easier... that depends on if a chopper will follow scripts. :

Sorry for all the questions that I ask without testing, it's for a part from a map I didn't build yet, but I will soon.

They did it in Hl1. I remember now, in the level with the dam, the apache shot the brigde that leads to the tower with the button that stops the fans.

I can also make it shoot a barney if I have to. :(
