Tee Dubya Aych El
Wasn't doing so well,
When some kid came spammin'
Luckily the banstick
Shiny, made from plastic
Dragg'd him out for a whammin'

A scientist went by the name
Of Freeman, everyone found it lame
But when his crowbar he swung..
Instead of a "Hello",
No one wanted to know
How he passed his job interview drunk.

How bout some more HL-related ones? :>

Vote for Map of the Month: October.

Rules, yet againe.
  • The entry must be posted in the Map Vault's completed maps section by it's respective author between 01-10-2007 and 31-10-2007.
  • You can only vote once (you can still replace your vote later on by re-voting)
  • You can't vote for a map/mod you've posted.
  • You can only vote for maps made for Half-Life/Half-Life 2 and their official mods (HLDM/HL2DM, CS/CS:CZ/CS:S, DoD/DoD:S, TFC, BS, OpFor) and Spirit. (applies to maps only)
May the best map win! (wow, sounds cheesy.. in a good way :P )

FUCK YEAH! Another assault remake! I know what you should do! Make like 20 windows in every wall of the warehouse so the CTs wouldn't have to leave their spawn AT ALL! That'd teach them vent-camping Ts, eh?

Seriously, try an original idea. Assault is just one of those maps, that's alright the way it is, even with it's flaws. Adding campspots, balconies or making the roof transparent isn't gonna fix that.

Not much, but it's a start. Textures took a while to make, the mapping itself shouldn't take that long. (over 18 Mb of tex. memory used by now D: )

Yup.
Same with i++ instead of i = i + 1;

You can also use i += 10 instead of i = i + 10;

Why's that? Because C++ is overrated crap
i agree wholeheartedly with C++ being a steaming pile of you know what
What Rabid said. Or hell, point out a better language for game dev.

C++ is extremely powerful, yet pretty hard-to-learn if all you do is look up some tutorials on the 'net. If you're really willing to learn it - the only way to do so is getting a proper book on it or, even better, taking a short course to get the basics straight. Once that's sorted - all it takes to learn the more complex stuff is practice.

Another thing bad about this is that it'd be hard for both players to attack at the same time. The one out in front would be the only one whose shots actually hit something. The bullets of the player left behind would just end up soaked by the player in front. (unless you made them non-solid or added some changes in overall level design)

That'd pwn, but I don't really see that working too well in 2D. Unless you had some extra challenging monsters, etc.

It'd be pretty awesome if the player was allowed to choose his character (gordon, scientist, barney, etc.). :o

De_mon is in the lead with a whole 3!
Fathom 2.4 almost had him with a vote from World Crafter, he unexpectedly changed his mind and pushed de_mon even further into the lead with his vote!

*sigh.. Seriously, 3 votes? Contrubute to society, do it for the sake of democracy, do it because you hate Jack Thompson, whatever. Just give us a couple more bloody votes so we can wrap this, write another review and be done with it. :|

Played it. The crosshair's a great improvement, but it's not very useful when shooting stuff at longer range. The best way to solve that would be to snap the crosshair to whatever the bullet's gonna hit at that angle.
Otherwise - great work. Keep it coming! :)

I'd strongly suggest using a newer version of spirit. 1.2 is pretty old and still has it's stability issues. There are plenty of custom builds; As far as I know - the newest one is 1.5 alpha 4. Download the sourcecode here.
