This explains usage of the game_player_equip, as for making it work - you'll need a multi_manager named "game_playerspawn", that triggers the game_player_equip.

www.pslover.com would be a good place to start. It's got tons of tutorials on photoshop basics and texture making.

Though I'd also recommend buying some book on Photoshop. Nothing too big, just one, that covers the basics.

Meh. XP updated or not - I'll still be using it. Hell, lots of games/programs released today are still compatible with Win98. By the time XP won't be compatible with the newest stuff anymore - all the future rigs will be capable of running Vista without any memory drain at all. And there'll probably be tons of OpenGL for Vista patches..

.. so I really don't see any problem here.

Give works only with monsters and weapons as far as I've tried. Spawning some entity, that needs keyvalues to work properly usually crashes the game.

OIFH coding progress

-Extra gore. Monsters can now be kersplodered with any weapon, provided that you finish them off with a strong blow. Corpses can be gibbed with any weapon too. Exploding bodies produce 2x more blood and 4x more gibs.

-Blood on weapons. I thought it'd go nice with extra gore, so now when you hit a monster - there's blood on the crowbar. More features with blood on weapons included.

More stuff in progress, won't announce it yet. ;)

I always pose the models in HLMV and then blend them in witn Photoshop (cropping/resizing and hue/saturation, brightness/contrast changes to fit the lighting).

Tried using MetaMod for posing, but never managed to get it up and running right. :(

The first time I played HL1 and entered the silo in Blast Pit - I was honestly scared by the tentacle sounds. Seeing them splatter barney and that scientist didn't help either.
.. so to avoid the monster - I actually crouch+walked through the silo all the way down. It took like 10 minutes to get from top to bottom at that speed. :D

Who needs such complex setups for something as simple as that?
All you need is a trigger_multiple in the waffle area, that has nothing in it's target field at first. Then, once the waffles are about to crush the player - use a trigger_changetarget to make the trigger trigger the sound.
