Too late :(

You shouldn't take it personally at all. Almost nobody rates maps. It's not a big deal, really.

The real loss is to the person not doing the rating, anyway, because you can learn so much from other's stuff--even the really bad maps have cool things in them often! ;)

I Think I'm going to take my own advice right now and write some bowel-destructing reviews... :P

O RLY? :P

If this little compo gets users to give better than one-sentence, or one-phrase, or even one-word reviews that are not punctuated, I will rejoice, and sacrifice a calf for Lucifer!

However, I think most are either too busy, too self-indulged, or waste too much time in the "Stuff" forum--that'd be me--to worry about what their peers are doing. It's really their loss, because you learn a lot by playing other's maps.

Looks really good Saco! I must apologize, because most of the darker screenies are hard for me to see right now because of the sun where i am--coffee shop.

One thing I did notice though was the cheeze-it pallets stacked directly atop one another. I would recomend brushing or texturing a metal looking rack between them.

Edit: I just looked at some screenies from HeadCrab guy, and his looked fine to me, which means your's are super-dark :)

You could also check out Andy's tutorial about dimensions/scale here.

But no matter what you do, always compile often after you've butilt whatever, to make sure it "looks" right. However it will never be perfect, because there is no perfect corelation between real-woird scale and Half-Life scale :(

Omg, hearing about these sort of problems give me nightmares!
<rowleybob dashes under the bed and crys/screams for mother>

I'm quite the noobie when it comes to things technical, but I seem to recall instability issues with the k62 processors with certain motherboards and video cards, especially ATI.

But considering your old card did the same thing, I'm going to hazard a guess that your motherboard may be the culprit.

This doesn't sound like a software thing to me, but I would do as Strider says to try and rule it out.

Good Luck :

Don' get me wrong either, I love SP mods too. Take something by Tlax for example. His stuff is amazing, and also I'm sure takes a massive amount of time and work and headaches with bugs.

But It doesn't matter how good it is if no-one ever plays it, or plays it once and forgets about it :(

Maybe stuff like Sven Coop is the future, bluring the line between MP and SP... I've never played SC, but it's on my list of "mods to try" :)

The best Christmas map I've ever seen.

If you've never played this map, it's a must-download. I just played it again, after about a year or so, and I must say I was blown away.

It's not the best map ever, but the amazing ambience achieved--sounds/flickering lights/sprites, and the perfect architecture/textures to go along with them-- makes this map totally awsome!

Post better in here if you know of one.

There are only so many times something can be done before it's just boring
I couldn't agree and disagree with you more:

After you've bee through a singleplayer once or maybe twice, why would you play it again? Once you master the fun puzzles or techniques to kill a monster, it's quite boring, no offense.

Multiplayer games are much more dyamaic, depending on who's playing and how many players there are. I've played cs_assault probably thousands of times, and it's different every single time.

My 2 cents.

@Elon: Yeah the that fade texture works well, and there are loads of examples about it. Incidentally, did you used "fade" for your bullet hole light rays, in the Casa Del Administrator compo?

I was wondering it can i make non-player funk_tank to counter-strike 1.6?
You most certainly can.

Afaik, they behave exactly the same in CS as they do in plaino HL. I think Seventh-Monkey and Elon Yariv were thinking of Monster_turrets, which don't work in CS...

Just make a func_tank per the tutorial, check the active flag, and it will shoot the anus out of ya...
I did just remember it cs 1.5 did have training game and there was many automatinc turrets

The examples they give for common directories are C:Sierra/Half-life/valve. Is this out of date before steam?
Yes indeed, that tutorial is out of date--even Elon Yariv uses Steam now!!--, and it's title should include "Pre-Steam" or something.

Go here for Steam instrcutions.

@Seventh: Maybe it's time more aptly name old hammer setup--as well edit all the places he uses "WorldCraft" too lol-- to something like:

Hammer Setup(Without Steam, Pre-Steam, Lacuna Steam etc)

Double check your configuration.

I've seen this popping up a lot lately--you'll also find a lot of these by searching the forurms for Access is denied-, and it seems to be caused by unspecified errors with your Hammer Setup-Game Configurations and/or Build Programs.
C:SierraHalf-Lifevalvemapstesting01
Noticed this. If you're using steam, this path--as well as the others--will not be correct. If this is the case try this tutorial.

@Seventh: I tried to tell you :P

So I guess the lesson is pretty clear here.

@Tycell: If it's any consolation, you're not the first and you definitely won't be the last to have this sort of thing befell.

The good thing I've found by losing/accidentally deleting work, is that the redesign--If you choose to do it over--is almost always much improved from the original work.

Kol's idea is probably the easiest.

Personally, I hit the [ key repeatedly to scale the grid size the samllest it will go, zoom in, and count.

If you have a big monitor, bumping your resolution to something big--I use 1920?1200--, will make it easier to see by increasing your field of view.

Um, I'm not sure, but you might type "Access is denied"--no quotes--in the Find: box to the upper right, switch the in field to Forums, and click on the Go button.

I know this has happened before to others, and if I remember correctly, their configs were royally messed up.
You might also try downloading the latest version of Hammer, Zoner's Compile tools--if you don't already have them--, and read the Beginner tutorials for setting up Hammer again.
