Two invalid structures anxiously wait to be deleted. The first brush says, "It's not fair! Why can't our creator just check for problems and simply fix us rather than completely removing us?" So the second brush responds, "BECAUSE THAT'S A TERRIBLY BAD MAPPING PRACTICE!"
Fixed.

That actually looks pretty good. How would it look if the lambda symbol was moved upward a slight bit, beyond the point where the lines intersected? Then it would have a sort of half circle around it.

The choice is obvious to me. A Headcrab. facing the same direction as the head (that is supposed to be a head, right?), have its fangs extend downward onto the forehead area, and then the legs could wrap around the sides of it. I think it could look really good if the Headcrab was highly stylized to fit in with the rest of the design.

Here's a shitty little thing I made in Paint to show what I mean:
User posted image
If you could just smooth out the edges of that and let the lines flow a bit more with the outline of the head, I think it'd look pretty good.

I have to say though, that head doesn't exactly lend itself to the theme of the game.

There is no apply button. After tying the brush to an entity, or creating a point based one, you just set the properties and exit out. They're saved just like that until the next time you go to edit them.

I'm not sure why you're having trouble creating entities though...

Nice, but that white outlined sign above the brush based letters is completely out of place. And of course, turn the brush based letters into a func_illusionary entity. Not only will it not cut into the wall behind it anymore, but it'll stop people from jumping on top of it.

So, you can download a FREE virus protector, but why should the makers hand it out for free? They make no profit out of it...?
Because either they're generous people who don't want to make money out of a little program but will willingly accept donations, or the free version is a more limited version of a larger product they're trying to promote.

Generally the same principle as all free software...

I find it a little funny that you're asking this question on a modding site of all places. Seems like you might know by now.

I don't think modeling is a necessary section, as most people here don't do it, or at least don't discuss it. I personally think modeling discussion should just stay in the forum of whatever engine it's for. I wouldn't have any problem if a section for it existed, but I think it may end up being kinda empty.

I also think having a whole forum dedicated to annoying political/religious/conspiracy threads kind of suggest that we want them in the first place, and encourages their existence. This is a mapping site, after all.

But yeah, I definitely think we need a section for technology.

Swearing will always be allowed, as we already discussed. That's why there's going to be a swear filter if you don't like it.

As for insults... well, every forum has them, and I personally don't see the problem with it. It unavoidable when you're discussing things that people are highly opinionated about. I wouldn't exactly call it trouble.
There's already a button for that.

After the name of the last poster, there's a little arrow pointing right you can click.
I don't see it... I mean, there's these little arrow symbol things on either side of the page numbers that seem like they should do something, but they're unclickable.

Anyway, from what I've heard the chance of getting a virus is like 1 in a 5 000 000 chance. And I've only heard like half a dozen people ever got it and now systems DO have the BIOS completely separate. I haven't heard from it in over eight years anyway so it doesn't really matter.
I can't tell what you're talking about here.

furthermore, viruses can't touch your BIOS. why? because there is absolutely no bridge between windows and the BIOS. none. only the BIOS has access to the BIOS.
And thankfully, even if it did, you could always pull your BIOS battery out and reset it. Tadaaaa...

There is no "programming that tells your computer to start up", it's all in the OS.

Ever heard of a little thing called BIOS? You hit a key during startup to get into it, and then you can change your drive boot configuration so that it loads CDs before your hard drive, and you insert your XP install or recovery disc. No money lost at all. I say again, viruses don't effect hardware.

'Tis sad people don't know better, really. :

in Norton thinks steam games are trojans! Post #228019
my god, you're an idiot.
Fixed.

Come on though, you didn't "lose your computer" to a virus. It's an impossibility, really. All you lost was a bunch of data and your XP install, at most. Viruses don't effect hardware or make your computer blow up.

...

Or else you're just completely clueless and figured that your computer was "broken" because Windows wouldn't boot, and you bought a whole new one.

Yeah Ghetto, no offense, but you should really stop acting like you know this stuff, because in all honesty it doesn't seem like you know squat about computer hardware or have any technical expertise whatsoever. Where do you get ideas like this?

Guess what? I have a factory overclocked PCI-e 7600 GT, and a 480 watt power supply. that's plenty of power for it, and I know this not because I guesstimated some obscene amount of power I thought it might use, but I actually read the requirements for it. You should start doing that, because at this point we're telling you everything.

Figure some stuff out for yourself. [/end rant]

in Video card? uh? Post #228008
What's wrong with the power supply I showed you before, Ghetto? Too good for you? It's reliable as hell, and overclockers apparently use them a lot.
Will this thing fry my pc?
What kind of question is that? I can't tell you if it's going to malfunction or not, but cheesy power supplies usually die out in a year or less. I couldn't guess whether it would take all your hardware with it.

All I'm doing here is giving you a stable choice. If you're determined to keep linking to these piles of junk that look like they were assembled in a sweatshop, then go ahead and buy one, but it's not going to get my recommendation. Then again, if you don't plan on keeping your current computer for very much longer, it might be okay. I'm just assuming you want this to last you for a while.
