I'm not sure what you're asking. Do you want a no-tripmines area or what?

I don't think there are settings generic enough to destroy anything - func_pushables can be destroyed, but grenades, tripmines and satchels can't.

Caboose, will you STOP posting photos already. You're making us all look like bad photographers. :P

Crollo, you're probably the only one here that only does product photography. Of course it's unimpressive if a camera gets a good shot in perfect light, pretty much every camera can handle perfect conditions. What makes a good camera is that it can also get a good shot in less than optimum conditions - which sometimes you plain don't have.

Suppose you're taking a photo with your camera, indoors. You look out of the window and see an awesome scene that makes you need to shoot it. BUT look, it's an awful overcast day. Is your camera as good as you thought? No, because something as harmless as a dull and overcast day make for less than ideal lighting conditions and your camera doesn't do less than ideal lighting conditions. Will you tell everyone outside to stay still until the sun comes back out?

Look at the first photo Caboose has just posted. Those are definitely less than ideal lighting conditions and most cameras would plain crap out if you try to shoot that. But, his camera is good enough to be able to process the scene into a decent looking photo without falling apart in pieces. Should he have stopped and waited until the sun came back out to make great lighting conditions? Sure, but what made the shot special in the first place would be lost.

I'm feeding the troll ain't I.

in Working for a Better Future Post #296174
^This.

I have no idea what I want to do with my life. I have a degree in electronics and programming, I only had one job at a software consulting firm. Now I work as a photographer - because I love photography. And I am now studying architecture also because I like it, not because I see myself working as an architect in the future. BUT at least I'll have more options than if I just sit here taking photos all day. Maybe I'll come up with a better plan later on.

Your skills and interests will probably change over time, so don't struggle to make a "right" decision now (there's no such thing). Pick something you like and give that a try. If you later change your mind, you can move on to something else more according to your (new or at least evolved) interests.

So your proposition is essentially the same as being given Second Life money. You can be given an indeterminate amount in an unofficial virtual currency and of which the exchange rate is probably ridiculously low. So it's pretty much the same as someone coming along and typing "good job - have a cookie".

You can't judge a camera based on 3 photos you found on flickr. You have to find out how it behaves in adverse conditions to really know how good it is. Pretty much every camera will produce a good shot if the scene is well lit.

Nightmare? Oh boy, you're too busy doing video. If you just want to take photos, they're just like every other DSLR. With the added benefit of using a 16-35mm as the widest wide angle lens! Oh boy I want a 10-22mm now.

A game with such graphics would have turned the world around - in 1996. You're only 15 years late.

I'm looking forward to the position of co-founder and CEO, so as to collect the maximum amount of money from sale revenues. My immediate previous experience in the field is having collected an advance payment for a job I did today. I can also provide belching sound effects, I also have years of previous experience on that. Farting too but it has an extra charge for the cost of chinese food.

@Blitzkrieg - I'd have done that if it were new. BUT, it's only doing it after about two years of use. (curiously, the 7-year-old CPU fan and PSU fan are almost as silent as new)

I don't think these fans have bearings at all. I'll look into cleaning it.

My last computer also had this problem. I don't remember exactly what I did, but it involved physical violence. That might be related to that computer's hard disk crash.

No, this isn't about Justin Bieber. It's about my computer. These past few weeks one of the case fans has been making this horrible grinding noise that drives me mad. Mostly I just open the side of the case and gently slow it down by pressing it with my finger, just enough for it to stop that noise. The problem is that it's almost immediately resuming now. I'm going mad, what could I do about this? Dump all of them and get new ones?

Any insight or useful comments will be appreciated.

@DiscoStu: Making that in the free build version is nothing. You just have to click on a block and it's gone. It takes REAL dedication to do that in the full version, when destroying a block can take up to a couple of seconds each.
...oh.
Anyhu, I decide to see how long it would take to dig Stu's hole in the full version.
I'm flattered :P
Looks deeper than mine, though. Maybe I got a shallow world.

I can still argue about "that level of precision" though. It shouldn't be too hard - there's just one level of precision.

What I'm asking is what are the Minecraft guys billing for. They're asking for money and let you download the client files in return, or you can just download everything and only need to pay if you want to play in the official servers?

I'm asking because I have only ever played the free java version on their site.

Can I play in your server without buying something?
