Okay, so maybe they aren't the hottest models I've ever seen, but I'm appreciative we even have custom models. To be honest, for an AK, that does look pretty un-AK-like if you ask me. And yeah, it's really undetailed.

The SOCOM Mk23 looks a lot better, but it's not accurately modeled at all. The indentations are way too deep and exaggerated, but if those were leveled out, all would be fine with that model.

You... what? You don't have the specs yet? Are you insane or something? You buy a $1600 computer and don't even know what the specs are?

You bought a new computer? So... does this have Vista? Specs please.

P.S.
Luke is right, but only if you'd built it. It costs so much more to buy prebuilt computers.

Nice. I've personally got nothing against conspiracies theories, I think they're rather interesting. Doesn't mean I believe in them all 100%, but I don't immediately discredit them as bullshit just because it isn't what the majority believe in.

The point is though, it'll go further and further from its intended position the longer it goes, if it's off any. And no, I don't think GoldSrc does support that many decimals.

If all else fails, just decompile the BSP and see how they did their entity setups. It doesn't sound complex, but I suppose it could be.

Are you kidding me? The second paragraph of Ubuntu's Wikipedia entry talks about what its name means, and it says it right on their site.
Anyway, what is wrong with Microsoft? Besides that is made in America.
Stop being so damn pretentious. Most big name software is developed in America, and Microsoft is a company, not an operating system. What country a particular piece of software originates from has nothing to do with the quality of it.

At the end of my chapter, it's still early morning, so just a little beyond that would be nice. Actually Kasperg, I have a skybox I can send to you if you want. It was made to compliment the one being used at the end of my chapter.

And yeah, like Garg said, it's far outside a city. Think rocky, grassy terrain, like in chickenfist's screenshot, but with the facilities being more overgrown. At least, that's the picture I had of it in my mind's eye.

Are you absolutely sure that Hammer will run under Linux? I read an article about that a while ago, and nobody could get the 3D view window to work.

Anyway, you'll never run new games as well as you'll be able to on Windows. I know that for a fact.

Oh my, is Jahzel our resident conspiracy theorist?

Problem is though, you would still need Windows for mapping, gaming, etc. I don't know how much of that you do, but wouldn't that interfere with your goal of running a Microsoft-less system? :

Oh, but you can edit your posts in the forums. Just not in the map vault. And, you know, the web is a big place, and not every site has the same rules. ;)

Map vault comment editing will be implemented in TWHL 3, though. There is a need for it, I assure you.

Yeah, the voice acting was kinda shit. You need to deepen the voice some (if not in real life, in an audio editor), and try not to blow into the mic like you did. Also, when you yell, actually YELL loud. Trying to "yell silently" always ends up sounding pretty goofy. You might be ashamed of disrupting the neighbors with your maniacal fits of cursing, but it's really the only way to go.

in High r_speeds, low fps help Post #221907
First of all, wrong forum section. I'm going to assume this is for GoldSrc, because Source doesn't have r_speeds.

Second of all, post the map in the map vault with an RMF and link to it here. I don't see any other way people will be able to help you. Your problem seems tied to they way you built your map, and it's far too hard to troubleshoot this kind of thing when you can't see first hand how it's made.

The only thing I could ask with the information I have now is whether you're you're running VIS.

If the thumbnail thing was done, TWHL would have to automatically create a miniature image for every picture posted, and store it somewhere. Seems like a good way to bog down the servers. Plus, since all images are hosted externally, you could end up with a bunch of dead links to the full size images.

The idea sounds alright, but I think it would be a pretty messy thing if it was actually implemented. I'm not sure it would get that much use, either.

I'm wondering though, is this even possible to code? I'd think it would be, but I've never seen it done before.

That's still still a "problem", so to speak. I really don't know of any game engines that allow you to create concave objects, so it's kind of a standard thing.

As for your first question, I don't think Source has that entity... although I wouldn't know, since I don't map for it.

Also, use the edit button next to your name next time, so you don't have to double-post.

A Google search takes time, does it? It couldn't possibly take as much time as waiting for a response on a forum that has nothing to do with Battlefield 1942. A Google search takes a couple seconds at the most, even for a dial-up user.

You would have to use clip brushes anyway, unless you wanted nothing other than a big box around the model for the clipping.
