The Steam retail version of Half-Life (Half-Life 1 Anthology) doesn't give you Counter-Strike, since it has its own package (Counter-Strike Anthology), but I registered my WON Game of the Year Edition, and got Counter-Strike free.

Not much to explain... it's free, as long as you didn't buy Half-Life alone on Steam. If you had the WON version, all you have to do is register it with Steam and it gives you Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat, Blue Shift, Opposing Force, Team Fortress Classic, Ricochet, and Deathmatch Classic for free.

Well, sorry bud, but Valve doesn't care how or where you got your crap pirated copy of its games. Buy legit or get out. People like you are the reason they have to force others to use Steam for mapping.

Pff.. Lemme guess, it's not a legitimate copy? It can't be, because there's no way you can play CS:S online legally without Steam.

Here's a hint: BUY THE GAME.

No...

You have to get the Source SDK through Steam, it's the only way. Just like you have to have Steam to play Source games.

Another thing, you don't need any triggers for a simple door. They open when you touch them.

in Upon decompiling HL Post #220299
After you decompile a map, you usually end up with a lot more faces than the original RMF would have, because it's so messy.

Also, when you compile a map, most of the unseen faces are culled away. And even if the original RMF had that many faces in it, it's not like it would be rendering 30000 of them all at once. That's what VIS is for.

in Competition Map Vault Section Post #220217
If it's ever implemented, it'll be in TWHL3. I believe there are plans for more map vault sections, but I don't remember this being one of them. Are there really enough competitions here to justify a whole section for them, though? All the maps from the official competitions can be downloaded from the corresponding competition page, if you're looking for them. I just don't see the point.

There. It's not gonna work for Condition-Zero (or even regular Counter-Strike) but it's the file he was talking about.

Eh... no, you can't use a decompiler for editing maps. Doesn't work, the brushwork is always way too mangled to be any good.

You could have some trigger_multiples and env_renders set up so it doesn't render stuff inside the plane unless you're in it. Check out this tutorial for more info on that method.

It could hurt you, if it was unstable. :

But that wasn't my point. My point was that it's being wrongly touted as a real "DirectX 10 for XP", which I'm fairly certain it's not, after reading into it. I have no problem with it, and it's good if it lets a number of people use their old hardware to run modern games, but it's not the fix we're looking for.

in DX10 on XP?!?! Post #219925
So, let me get this straight: It doesn't allow you to run DX10 games on a DX10 card with all their DX10 features on Windows XP, it just waters them down with DX9-level graphics, and gives you the ability to run them on older cards? What a waste. There aren't even any games on the horizon that will be exclusive to DX10, so why bother with this?

Besides all that, it's not even proven to be real yet.

Source compile logs are substantially longer than GoldSrc logs, aren't they? Whenever, I need to read a compile log, I can usually just scan over it and immediately find the error.

All brushes are unbreakable and impenetrable unless they're func_breakables or func_illusionarys. If it's CS you're talking about though, then it's rather difficult to make brushes bulletproof. Check out this map for more info on one technique used.

As for your second question, you'll have to ask somebody that uses Hammer 3.5, since I use 3.4.

is it possible to change half-life to other name?
That's actually harder than you might think. You have to extract these two seperate sprites, turn them into BMPs, join them together in your image editor, write your text down in a very specific spot, and then break them into two BMPs again and turn it back into a sprite.
