I have never mapped for Source (maybe one day) but for now I enjoy mapping for HL1, I found that Hammer will only stuff up because I made the error to start with lol, TWHL and the community have been a great help for a mapping N00b like myself, and for that reason I feel that HL1 is going to be around for a long time to come

in what laptop do I get for mapping? Post #157611
OK my question is...I want to buy a second hand laptop from Ebay..I need to know what are the minimal requirements to have for mapping/compiling, the laptop will be for this only..at the moment I am mapping for HL1 and think I will stay with HL1 until I become better at mapping, what Mhz,CPU,Ram,Graphix card do I need (remember this is not a super gaming laptop, just need minimal requirements)

I am building a new super computer tower for gaming only, this is costing me in excess of $2,500 Australian, the laptop will enable me to map at work when I have a break *cough....

thanx in advance

Am I afraid of death?.....no..not at all, I watched my brother die slowly
it was better for him to die than carry on with the pain...
None of us wan't life to end for us, but its what we are born to do, so enjoy your time and never leave an argument with friends and loved one's un-resolved...you sure do miss them when they are gone..

Take for instance, I work in an under ground mine, the mine could suffer from a sudden shift on the continental plates thus causing a cave in....No more LeFtY, dead, pushing up the daisy's, snuffed it, met his maker, it doesn't bother me, im content with my life and if it should happen, I'll die happy. :)

I support my kids by taking and watching them play sport...
I like playing around with computer equipment (building them)...
I enjoy going to the Grand hotel at Glenelg (pub over looking the South Australian coast), it has large removable widows so you can have a drink and sit on the window ledge in summer and watch the girls *cough, I mean ships go by....

wars stem from religion..and people hide behind religion (Catholic priests/pediophiles)...

my theory is if you have sound moral judgment and follow lifes rules...you know like be honest to yourself and kind to others...and show positive leadership for others to aspire to...then you wont need to go to church on sundays to look for answers, the sad fact is many people (christian people) go to church too often because they are running away from issues..it seems to be like a cult..

Oh and talking in tounges...what a crock of sh*t

Just an opinion.......

hope this link works, x-cleaner from xblock works well, it checks for changes in your registry and cleans computer internet activity very well (like nasty pop up porn spyware) these pop ups usually put themselfs in your registry and will self activate when you are on the net and if you dont know the name/auther of the nasty bug/program then it could be hard to find it in the registry......Hope that made sence lol

I started my computer and steam said it was updating (froze up), then I re-instaled steam from web site, same problem.
then I re-formated computer, I have left all my game cd's at work and wont get them for days, when I re-load steam on my home computer will all the game files be downloaded from steam because I have an account? if it does it will take ages i guess!

Oh and worldcraft my update never got past 0%
steam said it did have a problem reported for update freezing at 70-90% from a previous update error...its on the steam web page on how to fix

in Has Mapping Ruined Your Gaming? Post #147226
I am a need to know person and enjoy seeing how things work, I started mapping for that reason.
I still enjoy playing the hl and hl2 games to get a feel of how others think when they make maps, and I enjoy making small maps for LAN gaming rooms, like awp maps/knife maps but I also enjoy making bigger CS bomb maps but find it hard to finnish one lol.

yes J.C all maybe true in what you said, maybe that is why I never finnish some things because deep down I dont want them to end :)

maybe get a 400watt 20 amp power supply, you can even get them with lights inside if you are building a pro gamer case...

oh and think about the hard drive..if you go to LAN gaming rooms and want to leech movies/music/games it would pay to get 200gig HD or stick with 80gig and you could get an external plug in HD later when money is availiable

I concur Doc, some are not so bad but the phycological impact gives good reason for cosmetic surgery so as the boy may feel comfertable amongst other boys (less likely to feel the odd one out) in one case I have seen the opening was at the base of the penis, re-location was a success with the use of the fore-skin to make the urethral tube

1 in 350 boys born will suffer from "Hypospadias" (mislocation of the urethral opening)

surgery is required to re-locate the opening to the correct position

in tools change in hammer 3.5 Post #142084
ok...played around and experimented with tools...works ok now, changes are now saved when compiling, had to change the setting for game launching to steam/apps/myname/condition zero hl.exe, it was trying to launch in the old original cs hl.exe thats not in steam...ooops.

Funny thing is that I tried to do it in cs 1.6 in my steam folder, this worked ok but when I tried to play it in my condition zero steam game it came up with learning map/learning hiding places and froze up.

its all good now...works a treat. :glad:

[edit] close this thread if you like, the steam tools setting tutorial helped but I didnt think about the games launching process and how it can affect the compiling especialy if the hl.exe is not correctly placed in the tools options to match the game specified (I feel so silly  )

in tools change in hammer 3.5 Post #141901
Hi all,
I have made a map and set the tools for HL cs the first version, it compiles ok, then I decided to change the tools so the map will be in the steam files, I have chosen to save the compiled map in condition zero cs maps file, the map compiles with no errors ok but when I make changes to the map and save it, the map keeps the changes ok but when I compile it doesn't keep the changes in the map?
when I go into steam and run the map, it works, so the .BSP file is there ok.
what is going wrong, can anyone shed some light on this issue, usualy when I put maps in the steam app's condition zero cs maps file I get bots, now I get no bots and no changes such as adding walls or anything, but the map compiles with no errors.....hope that made sence!!
