in Does the "Wow" start now? Post #211137
@ ZombieLoffe: there are already good releases out :glad:

@ Saribous: Vista uses hardware far more than software to run visual aspects, so it therefore should run faster and be more reliable. ie, a badly written driver will be less likely to take down the entire system.

DX10 should be good, but I don't have a 8800 either :(

...it sounds like im a right ole fanboy but im not! :)

Yeah, i know its been around for a while cough already, but today being its official launch date, I just thought it warranted a topic.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/default.mspx

Apparently the "Wow" starts now, or so MS say!

What do you think? Getting ASAP? Don't wanna here about it, or are you gonna wait a bit for better driver releases.... ANYTHING?!?!?!

A friend of mine has started a Web Template Design website - I've been asked to try and find some new willing members. I'm gonna be hanging around there a lot as i've been made an admin. It's only been running for a few days, but we would really appreciate if a few users signed up there just to invoke interest and get it a little bit more 'seen' It only takes a second...

Thanks a lot

HL2 would suck.... probably on dual monitors. even if they were right next to each other, your main view would be right down the middle. For FS, I would have one monitor cockpit, the other external tail view. But the fps!!!! Arghhh.... they would not be pretty!!!

When your in-game, are both monitors in use - because in which case a screenshot would be the full-size, yeah? viz. if you set it as desktop background on dual-screen mode, it should take up both.... i think?

FSX? if the monitors are next to each other, it would have looked better if it was one image... although it might look stretched.... hmmmm : Nice picture though!!!

Arghh.... every time these threads come up, there are arguements about UXtheme patches:::

The UXtheme patch is far superior than WindowsBlinds as WB requires to always run in the background, and can / will hog resources. It is also currently quite unrealiable, and pointless. UXtheme is a single .dll file that is patched automatically into you system file to enable the use of any theme with usual format, and that used by WindowsBlinds.

http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/download.php?uxthemedownload0UIkOHVLkT

<< Download link for UXtheme.dll

http://www.themexp.org/

<< One of the best websites for free and excellent themes

Geez.

in Unknown Nokia Phone Cable Post #208264
A while back I bought a job-lot of computer bits - made quite a bit of money, and now i'm coming down to the last of it. However, I have a full box of cables which I don't have a clue what they are. I've tried contacting the seller, but he didn't know either, so I was just hoping someone around here might know!

Correctly describe it, give me a link or whatever, and I will send you one for free! These pictures are all the information I can give you, and the fact that one end fits into a nokia where the charger would go.

Thanks!

...oh, whoops!

Just make it out of large sections - wheels, mid-frame, bonnet, rear. A bit of clipping is really all that's needed, it could probably be done without any VM at all. I know with the textures that it is really hard to align them because obviously when the game was created, the textures were created with the car shape in mind. Just.... have patience........ and do what every1 said!

it doesn't look that bad... proportions look a bit out, although it's quite hard to tell as it's a dark screenie. I think that the car models were generally quite boxy anyway in the game....... but I have seen loads of prefab cars avaliable - not that I would recommend them, but it would give you a good idea.

in Which Lappy HDD Would YOU Choose? Post #206100
well, 300GB is bloody big for a laptop HD - but I would find it hard to avoid the 7200RPM, would feel just like a desktop. Depends on what you have on your laptop.

If you have films, etc, then probably the 160GB, other the 100GB definately.

I doubt you could actually fill the 300GB anyway! :P

@Madcow: actually, that's not entirely true. I once networked two very fast computers... lan, and shared my HL folder on one, and run it off the other. It used all the data from one, and the processing power from the other. I did get some lag, but not much.... depends how good the school comps. are.

My guess, is good enough be worth it.
