I know, accidentially I set my .dol models to open in Notepad and not HLMV, so now I have to change each extension manually. Torture on models with bunches of submodels for animations like scientist01-scientist20. It looks spiffy though, and my silver XP theme matches the Grey steam one. Hehe, I'm a freak about color-coding and having all my apps looking the same.

In my version of HL (1.1.2.0 or whatever that newest Steam version is) typing developer 3 should show when you pass through a trigger, what is being triggered, and any errors. Try enabling developer 3 and typing impulse 107, if it displays something about a texture, its working.

Hack away at HL, my friend, and you shall be able to add menu music. I believe bryce_boi had a spirit modification or something on his site that allowed music playback...check it out.

Wrong forum.

You can change your model in any game, not just CZ. I have lots of custom c4, deagle, etc... weapon models for original CS.

My maps haven't had much horror in them as they've been MP, CS and during they day in bright areas. Although with the recent arrival of the Natural Selection Beta, maybe I can change that ;) .

The updated limit plus the re-detailing of the original HL textures in some areas are what make them so detailed, and they look top notch.

I have all the SD H.I.T models in my HL folder and it works fine. Make sure you have the VB6 runtime libraries installed....they crashed Steam for me before I installed that... I don't think you can stop Steam from precaching the models, its coded to do that or something.

Umm, its not a func_tracktrain, so it has no origin. It just moves to one end, then goes back. Players can team up and one (or two) can sit in the jeep while the other stays in the top of the crane and moves it.

Maybe he scavenges rare/powerful items/weapons and sells them at high prices/services, but the item you get is worth it?

Maybe one or two friendly NPCs along the game wouldn't hurt. The player builds relationships with them, tries to keep them safe, sometimes having to manage ammo smarter when they have the NPC with them...making gameplay harder. Yes, we shouldn't use original HL content, but maybe by coincidence, the NPC's name happens to have Barney or Calhoun in it (a tribute to HL, as it nears its final modding days with HL2's release imminent)? Theyre common names.

I know, the levels are amazing. I like "Overtime" the best. I think it'll have great playability, the people working on it are amazing, and KungFuSquirrel's (former) mod leadership landed him a job at Raven as a level designer. It's had 2.5 years of work put into it, so I think it'll be great fun.

sorry but u sed 1024 x 768 is a SMALL SCREEN SIZE! mine is the same size and it is NOT SMALL!
Very small for the things I want to do with my comp. If it works for you, great.

I want one of those giant Apple Studio or whatever theyre called displays. I have a CRT monitor...as Haz said, faster than LCD and TFT and it doesn't have that ugly blurring in fast-moving games I like to play, like Unreal or most FPSs for that matter. Mmm....Half-Life 2 on a huge screen with high resolution....Although it costs about 4000 bucks...

I think it's because the light is waiting to be triggered as it has a name. Just take away the name unless you really need it for some reason.

Anyone here following Nightwatch? It's turning out to be a really impressive mod, and the screenshots at their site are really excellent.

They just had a gigantic Media Update so there are some nice new level shots, and the weapons are looking nice (m249 and the fire axe/extingusher are my favorites). The music samples they also have available for download are nice. Go check it out if you haven't already.

I've got this detailed func_train in my map. Here's a pic.

As you can see, its complex. (the interior of the Jeep is enterable.) Is there an easy way to find the center of the dang thing and place the path corners for me? I don't want to have to spend hours recompiling and editing the corner three units so my train runs correctly. There's gotta be an easier way, although its neat enough that if there is no other way, I will spend hours recompiling and testing it :P .

Try putting three of each in your map. (3 CT spawns and 3 Terr spawns.) If you have more than 3 than I have no idea whats wrong, but having only one/2 sometimes makes this happen.

Run the compile with -wadinclude, or on teh batch compilers there's an area to check -wadinclude and specify where the WADs are. As for textures everyone has, youre stuck with halflife, liquids, xeno, decals, and if you map for cs, all of the CS map wads. However, custom textures can easily be -wadincluded, and I just throw my customs into one huge custom.wad and include from there, it makes it easy when it comes time to compile. (just don't get as big as my 4k something textures, It gives me compile errors sometimes :zonked: )

OpFor multiplay and most of the mods like Ricochet and DMC/TFC came with CS 1.5 in the download, and DoD switched over to steam support, so the only real full games you get are HL (no hi-def) and CS 1.6. I suppose Valve/GB threw in the SP game as a way to show support to either the people who purchased it or as a free gift to the people who supported Half-Life or CS, since it's truly a great mod.

Hmm, interesting you only need one CD key though. Someone could pick up OpFor for near free (Last time I checked, $0.99) at the used games store and just D/L Half-Life for free with Steam.

Developer 3 shows if a trigger has been hit, what entities are being fired and enables some impulse commands and shows if entities are having trouble doing their tasks.

Making the map window to it's mini-window form, then restarting Hammer like that solved it, no idea why.

185 is a good value for textured windows, while 175-125 are good values for the default glass textures that come with HL (glass_med, glass_drk, glass_bright, glass_green).

Whenever I start up Hammer it starts with the window maximized. However, it is slightly moved down for some reason and hides the grid size, coordinates, zoom, etc on that small bottom bar. I can fix this by making it smaller, non-full screen and resizing it, but this detracts from the size available and I have a small monitor (1024x768) so I need all the space I can get. Any ideas/fixes?

Vis-Groups are only handled in rmf format, not in MAP or BSP, so it's just for convenience when editing.
