Feng Zhu does play a lot of games and paints scenes from them. I like his FF7 paintings he did for his YouTube.

I will design a new orb rig or something cool. Where would it go on the map, bomb a or b?

I agree with that but I'm still worried about Long so I guess I'll take that section. Maybe T Spawn and maybe the L unless someone else has a good idea, I have none for those two sections.

I have some concerns about the layout. The T Spawn seems cramped and the CT Spawn is far more open and all that. I feel the two spawns should trade places or modify the layout a bit. It's also smaller than I expected but that can push combat engagements.

We need to play-test this as it is as soon possible.

EDIT: I've made some addendums to the sides coming out of T spawn. Uploaded.

It's like he painted what I had in mind but way better than what I could do. If we take those shapes/visual language and such and apply our own design, I think we can knock this out of the park. We still have magma and limestone stala(gm)(ct)ites and rocks so break a bunch of that into scenes like these and we could have something awesome.

I've see sketches of the drill digger. I can start modelling that out asap but in case I can't, there needs to be a backup plan. For now Plan A though.

As soon as a plan is good enough, plot out the floors only in hammer, sky box it, and pass it around as soon as possible. We all need to know the space immediately so we can all help to refine it.

Since other people are doing things like layout and textures, I'm looking at things like color, light and light sources, shapes and visual language etc. starting with limestone caves, I like seeing the sugary white look of it, and with deep earth we get orange and burnt reds from magma. Borg tech is like gun metal and green. Many of the spaces may as well have sub themes of their own with one or two combined sets of visuals. I could scratch up some conceptual design to illustrate what I mean when I nab some time.

Of course I could whip them out like it's nobody's business but that takes time and I have a massively overloaded queue of work I need to do for the next couple months. THAT's the kicker. :/

I can't hand-paint every square inch of this map. Though I can help a bit. Doesn't Urby do textures? The core looks pretty snazzy and if it's subterraneous then we have some options.

I want to fully participate but my priorities are shifting. I'm doing that thing that adults do. Ya know, adulting and junk.

I have no idea what I could feasibly contribute. I'm good with starting stuff but I'm terrible with the end-game. Maybe I can make the skybox or something, I have the know-how and such to do that. Perhaps some important non-gimmicky well needed models for some stuff as well. Gotta know what things are before I commit to doing that much work when I can't actually afford it.

We need a rough. If archie is putting forth a layout, he needs to display every one of his ideas early and often so we can decided and feedback. Also, plotting the floors in hammer/sledge is also a fast way to concept in a 3D space that pen/paper seems to lack.

Ok... is all of TWHL a team? cuz if so I can provide some stuff but if it's a small 2-3 person team, I can't devote too much time.

Otherwise I say we need to start with step 1: a layout.
Not sure what to do about the theme though. Maybe a deep-earth upside-down suspended rock complex of science or something. Suspended over magma or whatever.

This doesn't mean I'm [b]in[/b] just throwing my two-cents in.

in HL1, 12 units = 12 inches. The player is 72 units tall, equal to 6 feet.

If you scale everything by 0.6 it would come out to real world proportions.

There are these places called Artist Colonies where people get together, either for a short while or up to a few years, to mentor, learn their craft, or do big projects.

I see a TWHL mansion to be like one of these. I always dreamed of being in such a place. Would get so much done ^___^

The two images belong to the same BSP, so I charge the map, I change to cs_italy (for example) and I go back to the map and I got that result
Sounds like some base values weren't being reset. Nothing you could do about it but change the value yourself to something else.

Models sample their lighting from the ground they are over. I can't think of an explanation for why they would all light up, including the player model.

Are you compiling with any special settings?

Also, is this all on one BSP file or two separate maps?

Also what game is this for? If you are using a static mesh, say, an env_model, the model's lighting is only sampled once unlike a model with motion. If you used a monster_furniture this wouldn't be a problem. I'm not sure if this is the case with cyclers.

My resolution is to organize my creative life so everything I'm involved with gets a fair share of attention. My new smart phone definitely helps me keep track of all that so productivity is pretty high. I also want to visit me homelands in the spring and see me Mor and Far. ^_^

Played Space Engineers a bit. Learned a lot, died once in a remarkable way.

I set my ship up for some mining but didn't find gold. So a bit of a distance away I saw some more asteroids and decided to "walk" via jetpack over to it. About half-way I collided with a tiny meteorite at 280 meters per second. What are the fucking odds of that? srsly.

thought of a way to do tf2. the winners on the winning team could get as many tickets as the team's score each. Like if it's 5 to 8, the team with 8 wins and everyone on that team get 8 tickets. The other team gets nothing otherwise if it's 17 to 18, the spread isn't enough to give any advantage. would just need to screenshot each ending scoreboard and compile the data i guess.

thoughts? because i play a fuck-all medic.

No surprise that Dim is first. He's was fucking everyone up almost the whole two hours I played. I HAD to stop after de_TWHL2011 because my eyes were failing.

This was probably the most fun I've had playing any game in a long time and we should definitely do this next spring!

Castle Rim is a small and easily understandable map that sucks. I guess it's your choice though. I never nominated for it or anything.

Racetownz is far too big and difficult to manage. Given the rules are kill based, it doesn't bode well for the mode of our tourney.

Shame, after popping in once I never had the time to pop in again. Sorry.

CS 1.6 might be a little better if you want to try that. Plus mapping for it is fun because the rules are simpler and is way less chaotic than HLDM.

The "organic map systems" (like, not just those ones, I mean in general) drive my little OCD mind fucking insane.
Me too, Lyssa as well, and some of the guys from the Stencyl IRC.

I have a better version that doesn't tickle the OCD as much and is far more practical. Just have to wait until after SMJ Demo 2 comes out.
