in triggering render mode changes Post #283166
I don't know if I'm entering actually
I started on a map, but I don't think I'll be able to finish it. I never was much of a mapper, I just know a lot about entities. I just dont have the imagination to create good looking architecture
But we'll see :)

Unfortunately that's part of the engine limitations not being able to make awesome shadows. However I have an idea that might work. Not sure, gonna test it first and then get back to you in this thread

Edit:
Projected textures! They are availble in the new orangebox games, so you'll need ep2 to pull it off.
The entity is called env_projectedtexture and does what the projector does in CS_office, but it also casts dynamic shadows of everything in the way.
The default texture is the flashlight texture, and it does the job quite well. If you want to change the texture you will have to do it via input
Worth a try :)
Oh and remember that you need to enable the entity to cast shadows in the entity properties

Edit2: Notice that the projected texture entity will mess up your flashlight since source only allows one shadowcasting lihgtsource.
So if your projector is shining on an object, and you use your flashlight on that same object, then weird shit appears on the screen.

SIMPLE!

Just select rendermode of the panel to either additive or texture, I believe both work, and then set the input to ALPHA and in the parameter type a number between 0 and 255, 255 being completely invisible, and 0 being visible.
If you want it to be invisible at first, set it to 0 using a logic_auto, and then using a trigger make it 255 when you want it to appear.
Problem solved :)
However, you do relise that the panel will still be there, but it will be invisible?

Yes, same thing happens if you try to map for episode 2.
It's because it is loaded within the wrong engine.
I am assuming that GM is using the latest version of the engine, you will need to create a custom config in the "Source 2009" version.

When you open up Source SDK you choose a version, right? 2006, 2007 or 2009
Im assuming you find Garrys mod in the 2007 direcory.
Select garrysmod, click edit configuration, then select GarrysMod again, and click edit, again, and copy the direcory. Then load up the 2009 version, click on create a new config, name it garrys mod and paste in the direcory.
Done. It should work now

I actually prefer MW1 and 2.
I know I had more fun playing them for the first time than I had playing any of the other games. And Im a big fan of unlocks and achivements, which is why I prefer the multiplayer of MW1 and 2. I didn't play cod1 or 2 mp very much since I by that time prefered BF2...because it had unlocks.
CoD5 was shit. Never played CoD3 since it was only released on consoles

@DiscoStu: If you've ever experimented with hydrogen than you'd know that it ignites much easier than gasoline. And it releases much more energy.
Also, it's a gas, making it harder to handle.
Even tho what you are saying probably is correct, if it werent for the oilcompanys we'd probably use an alternative fuel, I have to say that hydrogen isn't anywere near as safe as gasoline. At least that's my opinion which is somewhat based on experience

There's a reason why they're using it as a replacement for fossile fuel.
Space Rockets do :>

Other than that, it's just too unsafe to use in a common vehicle. At least until a better solution is found. I hear they made quite a good motorcycle prototype which runs on hydrogen. Cant provide the source tho

Well skals you kinda compared them too in your first post, which is a bit silly.

Still I agree that this is quite stupid. It's not like it's happening once a week. It happened once, right? So why is it such a big deal. There's no point in launching a campain to prevent it from happening again, since it most likely won't happen ever again in the upcoming 10 years.

The reason I enjoy the TWHL forums is not only because of the members who post there, but because of the simplicity of the forum.
Why waste time on integrating useless crap when you can use that time to fix/add more relevant things.

I do know that there is a way to separate explosions from bullets, can't rememter exactly how since I haven't mapped for over a year, but I do know that ther is a simple way.
However, Im very certain that there is no entity which registers what weapon it was shot by

Pink Floyd.
There isn't a single band after floyd which hasn't been inspired by them.
They've got it all. Good guitarplay mixed with synths and organs, upon a quite alright base with the right amount of drums which a lot of bands tend to exaggerate.
And tho they aren't ment to be singers, their voices fit so perfectly into their own music.
They've got a song for every mood you could possibly be in, and their lyrics are poetic and have meaning. Good shit if you ask me

But they've had 3 years to polish the engine, it ought to look better.

I still don't understand what made you think to start finding prime-number factors in the first place.
If i multiply all thier ages togheter, i get 2450. The sum of thier ages is equal to your age times two.
That sentence gives us the information necessary to understand that we can use primes to solve it
Madcow MadcowSpy zappin my udder

in Math Problems Post #277443
By multiplying two of the given primes ( 2, 5, 5, 7, 7)
10 = 2 x 5
14 = 2 x 7
35 = 7 x 5
25 = 5 x 5
49 = 7 x 7
etc

And the ages needs to consist of primes since they together needs to multiply into 2450.
2 x 5 x 5 x 7 x 7 = 2450.

So for example; 5 - [14,35]
5 x 2 x 7 x 5 x 7 = 2450 = 5 x 14 x 35

That's some beautiful maths and logic you used there penguin.

I'd definitely not buy that computer for 800$
I think the computer I have now which is quite okay, runs Crysis on medium/high, l4d maxed out etc, I think it costed around 380 Euros, probably even less, part by part and that was like two years ago, those prices are way lower now.

Ye it's a really fun campain but you get quite annoyed when you die infront of the saferoom at expert level and it took you like forever to get there.
I think they should have devided the campain into three levels instead of two.
It would have caused less frustration if you died. I haven't finished it yet. I played it with a friend and I died as I said once next to the first saferoom and a second time during the final?. I didn't try again after that since it was just a too long walk.

in Scripted_sequences, lighting, and disapp Post #269314
Scripted sequences, don't use the same for all of the combine, that won't work. You'll need one for each combine.
If there is a problem with one of the scripted sequences, check if it's got the same setup as the others (which do work) and also make sure that there are plenty of info_nodes provided so that the npc can navigate to it.
Also, check the console for errors.

One way of making it less messy would be to spawn not all of the combine at once, but only half of them, this should allow you to to use the same name twice.
Say you want 10 combines run past. Spawn five (one by one so that they have a little space inbetween) and when the first combine reaches the last scripted sequence, then make the scripted sequence trigger the npc_maker to spawn another combine and also trigger the scripts again.
That however would make it go on forever, but obviously you can stop it using timers or counters or whatever, the possebilities are endless.
I've not seen the layout of your map so I can't tell if a solution like that is appropriate, you judge.
If you still don't manage to create the scene then allow me to do an example for you.
Good luck
