if you have steam and a valid cd key for half life / cs whatever you install steam, log in, click games -> activate a product on steam and put the cd key in and steam downloads hl/cs/whatever and you can play it forever on that account for free

The appropriate thing to do would be to apoligize. I just asumed you were man enough.
....

just to annoy the hell out of everybody, you have no 'evidence' that Trapt is a man.....

well why didnt he just leave then? its stupid to waste time doing crappy maps for no reason.....

anyway look at it logically - a mod team wouldnt accept a mapper in on screenshots alone. they would need maps (bsp's) and proof he made them (vmf's) so obviously he showed them his maps and they were okay, so he started mapping for them. but when he did the first map, it was wrong for what the mod team needed. so they say 'no we want maps like this' or 'theres a few bits that need to be changed'. but most likely there was a pineapple on his computer chair when he sat down and he got all pissed and instead got 'revenge' by wasting his own time on below-standard work. so they kicked him out. and to get THEIR 'revenge' they told false stories to certain people.

thats what i think happened but theres a 99% chance im wrong

but one thing im sure of: its time for alot of people to full pineapples from their nether-regions and GET OVER IT

remember everything above is a GUESS so dont start flaming me for inaccurate information. its all logic from a person with no bias

He was producing sloppy work, but only because he didn't like the mod...
.....im not accusing anybody here, but why work on a mod you dont like?
and why wouldnt you like a mod just cos you dont like the leader?
its the IDEA of the mod. whether it be unique gameplay or a killer storyline or whatever.
when people dont like my maps, i dont say 'OMG U R FLAM3R I SP4M U W1TH VIRUS3S!1!1!!!!1' i say 'well what should i do to make it better?'

/logic

things to learn from this 'episode':

1. dont distribute rmf's/vmf's (although vmex makes it hard to avoid theft)
2. 'sign' your work (i.e. put your name in the map)
3. make a mod by yourself? (heh mines 0.5% done :O)

anyway keep going its better than an episode of some random tv soap

VMEX decompiles is bsp's to vmf's (need java runtime)
http://www.geocities.com/cofrdrbob/

it doesnt have to go to map because source introduces something that gives the brushes a 'memory' or something so its not as near as buggy as carving the whole map from a giant cube

of course you need gcfscape to get to the bsp's :P

to make your own textures, a nice program called VTFEdit can be used
http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?p=38
its included with a larger program called VTFLib, but you can get it separately.

also if your new to source mapping:

in Quake 4? Post #150395
ok, buy - yes, buy! it. its good.
demo is nothing like game.
quake 4 is good.
the only reason doom 3 and q4 are alike is bcus of engine.
lighting is similar because the doomtec engine uses real time lighting.
(in terms you would understand: thats no RAD compiler :) )
real time lighting means decreased refraction/diffraction etc.
guns are awsome
storyline is good
you get to blow up stuff
cool boss hp indicator - health and shields
and your legs get chopped off and replaced with metal ones halfway through the game :D

.....did i mention you get to blow up stuff?

btw: no physics puzzles :( lolz

the tanks or the mg-42's arent scripted, stal for ages and you see
also, i forgot the battle chatter system: if a friendly sees an enemies behind some crates, he yells out: 'enemy behind that crate' (example) and they do that for everything, but its not constant.
also they improved it so when a npc goes over a wall, his hand actually touches the wall, not the air above or the solid wall OF it.
and the only reason the npc's always get owned by nades is because otherwise it wouldnt be as fun - watch the commentary if you got the collectors edition and they talk about it

COD was the best WW2 game ever....until COD2 came out :D
it seriously is good - the AI IS better - they cant see through smoke, they throw your grenades back, the look for ways to flank you, they set up mg-42's at the best place to shoot ememies, the tanks 'see' you and drive away when your trying to plant explosives on it
the levels are ok, there are a few really well-done design points - like when your crawling through a pipe you see certain areas of the battlefield through holes, and when your on the ground you look at the pipes and you think, 'i was up there lol'
and there are a few missions where you have to clean out villages of enemies and you can choose what order you want to do it in - for e.g. you can eliminate enemies in the post office before the german field HQ, or the other way round. also theres like choices - like you can blow up a building or just go in and clear it out, etc.
the russians rock - they keep going on about the 'motherland', their 'comrades' and the 'facist bastards' - hilarious

best........WW2.........game........ever!

BUY IT! the multiplayer is awsome!
oh and btw the guns and vehicles and stuff are like really close to real
