Muzzleflash, they work fine in steam, so it's not my graphics card, my card is new relitively to HL1 so there shouldn't be any problems.

I'm through with you imbaciles! I just ask for some help and all you try to do is to prove that I'm wrong and that I'm an idiot. So I'm finally going to do what I should have done long ago. Not only that from time to time you insult me you aren't helpful either. I don't enjoy your company so I don't see any reason why I should stay here. Goodbye assholes, I know you are as glad to dispose of me as I am of you! :x

Arrghhh... Imbaciles!!! I do not visit porn sites, I hardly stay in the internet, apart from occasionally in this site or snarkpit.

The viruses came from steam, thats a fact, stop being so stupid and try to convince me it's not harmful to my computer.

All those who want to say something about me being a retard because I hate steam, just shut up and shug off, I'm not intrested in your crap. :|

Yeah, but for some reason it hasn't worked the last time I tried, which was a long time ago, before I even had steam, I think I used dll's muzzleflash gave me once but Hl rejected them. Maybe If I'll use my own dlls, but I hardly think there is any diffrence, but it's worth a try.

Now how about the bump mapping? How do I get that to the WON version. It's less important as I haedly believe I'll use it, though I might, since it looks cool and makes HL1 look alot better, so I might decied to include it in my mod. :

This is the last straw, I had some problems with that program that I ignored but now it is too much.

Yesterday my computer was flooded with 400 viruses, all of them came from steam, worms, trojens, ads, porn ,trackers... the lot.
Whenever it was open my screen was flooded with pornographic pictures, so many that it was impossible to see anything else, but I somehow managed to close it. The viruses are gone now... but I dare not reopen that program. I nearly had to repormat my computer. I had to delete window's backup to remove them all. :x

So I decieded to get rid of that trouble making program. Since I installed it, it did nothing but harm. I can't use openGL, I can rarely play even in direct3D I have to resort to software, I can't play in full screen, and I can't even play in resolusions higher then 640x480. This program has got to go.

My only problem is with a few extra additions added to half-life in the steam versions. Like transperety in models, this is most important for me, as I'm making a mod that must have trees in it. Also the ability of making bump mapped textures is nice. Anybody knows if there is a possiblty to have these things in WON HL? And exchanging the WON's transperety dlls doesn't work. :|

Steam is fine, if you want to play over the net, really good for internet, or buying games in the computer, something I'll never do. Otherwise I thinks it's more harmful then good, even if it mostly doesn't cause problems if it on some rare occations cause for a small part of people problems then it is harmful. It can cause problems that wouldn't accure without it. I myself have plenty of problems with it, and it's not because I didn't install it correctly, thats nearly impossible to do.

So the problem is that he wont climb the stairs.
This is quite simple actually.
In order for monsters to climb stairs the hight of the stairs must be 2 times smaller then their length. Their width must be a bit wider then the player's. The max hight is 16 but you can make shorter steps.
For example: x(width)y(length)z(hight) 64x32x16 / 64x16x8 / 64x8x4...ect

I personally prefer relic's games. I love territory based games.
Besides all of blizzard's designs were nearly exact copy of warhammer's.(the board game) The orcs look the same, warhammer have zerg like creatures too, and the protoss(I forgot how to spell that name, big deal) and simply a ripoff of the eldar.(I hate both so nevermind)

I always hated wow and never played it. I'm so glad I didn't. I hate those kind of RPG games. You don't have to be a good player in order to succeed, you just got to buy stuff and reach a very higher levels. besides every game got to have an end and a true purpose that isn't just getting stronger, or else it will get boring very fast. :tired:

I only have one question. If I wont include the wad in the bsp when I will compile, then afterward change the textures in the wad, will it affect the map? After all the textures aren't saved if I wont wadinclude, only the names...

It's just a candle, BL... nothing so special really, so I don't have a gift for modeling. I never even modeled a character, only when I will I could call my self a modeler.

I think I'm going to make most of my light sources out of models, much better for the performence and looks better. Though it's easier to alter things in hammer, rather then compiling and recompiling tons of models, so I will use both models and hammer. :)

Looks like people don't really like maps with no gameplay, I am going to compile it anyway, the question if I should release the map or keep it a secret till the whole mod will be released.

Muzzle, having areas in a level the player can't reach gives a feeling like the map isn't just another maze of corridors the player is stuck in. Having a whole corridor, room or even objects the player can't reach makes everything feel bigger, like he is in a whole world.

For example:
Having normal cliffs to close up the map is ok, but when there are trees on top and a few building the player can't even reach is much better. :)

What do you think?
I'm going to remake some textures since they don't look at all like marble, then compile it.
Does anybody think I should repost the new version with the improved textures, lighting, archtitecture and texturing in a few places? It still is quite the same map.
Or should I just keep it till I'll release the whole mod?

I don't know if those towers look nice but maybe they will once you'll add the nave's roof and more decorations on them. I also think the building lacks contrast, the only colour is grey, for the outside it's great since you are building a very fortrified cathedral but in the inside I'd advice you to use reds as well.
I think red colours and black stones will do for this one, this one looks a bit creepy. :o

No offence but this looks more of a fortress then a cathedral.
You must first keep a few things in mind while building a cathedral:

1. They are always shaped like a cross, on the fist side there are usally statues of the new testement and on the other the old.

2. All the designs are mainly based on arches. Gothic, and all. Here is a quite common design of the nave, it's based on three main arches. One big one in the middle and two smaller arches in the side. They are sometimes seperated by small pillars.

Look at my map ocean temple, it is not loosly based on a cathedral. Though I did make alot of changes, the pillars should be thiner and a larger number of them, there shouldn't be a pool in the middle, most of the cathedral's floor should be in the same hight and cathedrals are much more vast.
Vox's cathedral is also a very nice example, much more loyal to the real thing, but still it's still not perfect.

Arcan is kinda right, that genocide should be much more important and uprising. Alas people tend to ignore it because it doesn't consern them, and start making up excuses, like the one srry gave-"it's a third world country". It's not something that common in such countries, one's life aren't hanging by a thread and he always lives in fear. There are times like that indeed, but these things also happen in our sublime westren culture.

The reason the press usally ignores it is becuase it's not new, fresh and intresting. It wont intrest people as much as a really new occation will.

You need to make a trigger_multiple activate it. The trigger multiple triggers the targeted object if the player steps in it, and then resets after a specified time.

In order to use it create a brush textured with AAAtrigger over the area you want it to apply to in game, tie it to the trigger_multiple entity. In game it will be passible and invisible and when the played walks into it it will activate it's target. :)

How did you teleport it? Use a regular scripted_sequence to teleport him. Then use another to make him walk toward the scientist and kill him.
I made a script like that only that the scientist also screamed. It all looked so nice, I will post an example map on advance scripting.
You actually need to work with multi_managers to get it to work. I'll show it to you in the example.

First a zombie will eat a scientist and when you take a crowbar he'll get up nicely and slowly. Then a little sequence in a room next to you will happen, the script you want to make, only that the scientist will try to escape first. Then the zombie will break open the door.
Done that once and I will show you how to do it. :)

Those buildings look like they are made of stone, but please not like sancefar. I'm tired of that boring old castle rimrook theme. You always make maps in that theme, it's getting boring. Maybe you should make those Gazebos in a more victorian, gaulish or norman style.

Here is a pics of norwich cathedral, it inspired some of the archtitecture in my map ocean temple:
http://www.parm.net/gallery/d/3947-3/Norwich_Cathedral_arches_in_the_quadrangle.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=547ade04dbd53c5bad1ed6271552c16e

This is just to give you some insperation, but I've seen a real victorian gazebo and I think you should look at the design of some. Search for pics of cathedals, they will help you alot in thinking of a new theme. Ely is also a very nice one.

But anyway now after I extended the map a little the only thing similar are these arches, the maps look quite diffrent, my imagination started working again.

So yes I did steal that arching idea, though it's hard to say it's much, all it was just a few arches on the floor with holes in the middle. I've done things like my arches in previous maps, and placed plenty of light fixtures on pillars, I probebly would have done so anyway, I love placing light fixtures in weird places.

You didn't get the main point, BL.

There are people in europe that own guns too. The problem is in the US is that guns are too easy to get, all you need is enough money. You need to make guns legaly available only to a small number of people, a permit or something like that. This way not every wacko could get his hands on firearms.

Also there are types of guns that should be restricted and forbbiden for civilian use. Mostly sophisticated guns like all the sniper rifles, those new hightech models or just guns like Uzi, AK, MAG, SAW, RPG and M-16. Even some kinds of pistols should be outlawed, the sophisticated types. All those guns can be easily bought in the US, while in other countries I deem that you will not find a collector who legaly own a library of heavy or advanced firearms.

With the information that the United Nations had from the weapons inspectors, it was evident that Iraq's government was trying to create WMDs.
So what? US has already in stock enough nukes(not mere chemical weapons) that are ready to be launched. It has enough nuclear weaponry to destroy earth 10 times and send it to en eternal nuclear winter. What is all that in aid for?
Moreover the United States is the only nation that ever used nuclear weaponry, adn they knew whats it's capble of. I do believe i should be more afraid of the US then any other nation. The fate of all humanity lies in the fool that runs that country.

The same can be said for the so-called War on Drugs
So you say drugs should be legal, like firearms and there is absolutly no use to fight it? No offence but this is stupid. If drug will be made legal each jerk or teenager could aquire them. Now only a fewer number of people know where to buy drugs, and the proof is that if it were a so common knowledge, the police would already know about that... well sooner or later. This is not GTA, not everybody have contacts in the underground. If you ban drugs/firearms you prevent normal people from getting it.

Besides do you know how much it costs a nation to pay all the medical cover for all those drug addicts, just staying in a hospital costs alot of money. That goes for regular citizens owning guns too.
And, yes, thanks to us at least Iraq is currently seeing a little stabilization.
Well if you call that order then yes, from that point of view US' influence has been really helpful to the world... Considering that now that place is in total anarchy. From that point of view Yeroshima is better off like it's now.

I do believe if someone else in that school had a concealed weapon, that bastard shooter probably wouldn't have had the pleasure to shoot himself.
Most people don't have the guts to pull the trigger. But if they did, I think the damage qould have been much greater. Instead of a single bullet you'll have numerous one flying and whizzing simultaniously, many might not hit the criminal but others. Then with all the chaos people might mistake the criminal for another guy. Could easily happen.
You don't seem to understand that if guns are taken away people won't stop being killed.
Well I can't argue with that. Considering something like that already happened in the US. In the late 20th alcohole was banned. Soon organizations were borned and started smuggling it till it was relegalized.
Infact it gave birth to the mafia.

Though it's hard to say that you should ignore it. Not all the gunshot casualties are because of lunatics or criminals, some are accidents.
A few years ago a 4 years old shot his brother by mistake while playing with his father's gun.
So much for freedom. :(
I agree. This 'freedom' can bring much pain and harm if it's not wanted. Lets go back to germany, to the year 1919. The axis nations just lost
(well it's difficult to say someone won) and World War I ended. The US had this crazy dream to turn all the dictatorships to republics. Nations like Czech that was turned to Czechosolovakia, and most of you know that didn't last long till it turned to a dictatorship of the people.
The case was quite similar in germany. Not only that it lost it was also blamed for starting the whole war. Furthermore French sought everyway to weaken and humiliate Germany. This country was forced to be a republic against it's citizen's will so they apposed it and abhored the all idea.
The humiliation made them seek after revenge, and the Americans weakend the govorment by turning it to republic, that can be very unstable.
That was one of the reasons that caused World War II, and the death of 40 million earopeans. Though I don't blame them for that terrible war, I think the Americans should finally learn not to meddle in such affairs and understand that not everybody wants democracy, nor is it always the best solution, it can sometimes cause disasters.

Arcan, don't start with the pics, remember what happened in the last thread. :zonked:
