Idk, it still seems like half of the people hating on this spiffy new race car are calling it stupid because they don't like the paint(wow-similar graphics), and half are hating on it because it's not street legal and they need to drive it on the track, and only when it's open (which is 24/7 unless the track crew is doing maintenance).

I've just gotten to Act IV and the story is fucking great, better than either of the previous two. The cutscenes are jaw-dropping. I've never been nearly this engrossed in a Diablo game's story before. The gameplay changes have grown on me by now- I just learned you can check an option which lets you completely freely assign skills to the keys, including 2 skills from the same tree. The changes to the potion system, the changes in pacing, the changes in difficulty- I don't care to mention how many times I've died on normal. I had fun in Act 1 but the shit that goes down in Act 3 and 4 is fucking nuts. Act 3's boss battle was insane. He had a seaker spell that 1 hit KO-ed my buddy, and left me at about 15% health. Huge pools of blood that did damage to you was filling the arena as we fought. Fucking madness.

It's totally fine to not like a game, but to pass the entire thing off because of what amounts to little more than petty, bureaucratic bullshit is just silly, and that seems to me what most people are doing.

"What do you mean that you occasionally do maintenance on the race track? THIS IS BULLSHIT, THIS RACECAR SUCKS, YOU'RE OUT TO GET ME, FAGS" - the gaming community.

Oh and I don't think Diablo "got away with it" because of it's name, I think it did because it's fun and this doesn't stop the fun.

Oh, and about the disposable income buying items- yeah, it does. It doesn't buy the number of hours of play time need to get a toon to 60, nor does it buy and this is crucial SKILL. I have a feeling it will also buy you loads of ridicule from some other players :P

I could buy the best gear in the game and still get my ass handed to me by a better PVP player than I.

Goddamnit I had a good bit of discussion typed out for PB and then page backed. frickityfrickfrick, balls. I hope you appreciate the discussion lol, I'm typing it twice.

The AH is really not intended to be malicious. It is intended to be a solution to the black market which ruined, ruined, RUINED Diablo 2. It is honestly intended to help the economy rather than rip off players. The small "tax" on sold items helps pay for the servers, which at this point are planned to be up for 15 years. I'll take this over a $15 a month subscription fee any day of the week.
as error 37 has made all too apparent
Obviously the first few days are going to be unpredictable. You don't open servers to millions of people and have it go off without a hitch, that's just unrealistic. This is Blizzard. They run WoW, they have as much experience keeping populated servers running as anyone else and I trust them. I'm not going to throw a shitfit because the game goes down every once in a while for maintenance.
In the past you could just load up a modding tool and add the weapon stats you wanted"
I disagree that this is good. This is bad. Bad bad bad.

PS, Activision can suck one.

Collapse: No, but Guild Wars is. And it works the same way- every time you leave town you create your own instance. Replace the social town with the chat channel and you have exactly how D3 works. D3 is obviously not technically an MMO, even if that point meant anything to begin with.
if it's not an only-multiplayer game like WoW
BUT IT IS, FFS. You can run around alone like a dickweed in WoW, too.

Stop arguing about DRM over Diablo! It's not DRM! It's to stop fuckwits who kinda-sorta like Diablo from ruining Diablo like they ruined every other fucking version of Diablo! That's why Diablo die-hards play on private servers about 1/1000 the size of Bnet. It's a multiplayer game, it's 100% about end-game, and it allows item/money trades in game. Always on connection. Needed. Done deal.

Is WoW's connection considered DRM? No!

Rufee, I don't think I've got you on my list- add Legitzkrieg. I've got these other dudes. I'd definitely be down for some TWHL-squad action! Although I'm going to be playing D3 for quite a bit at first. Prior to launch I play or practice BF3 at least once a day, pretty much as a rule. I'll be back to it in no time, I'm sure. If anyone wants pilot lessons I'm down like a clown Charlie Brown.

I think the people complaining about having to be online to play singleplayer Diablo are forgetting something- THERE IS NO FRIGGIN SINGLEPLAYER.

You bought a multiplayer game. You can run a live instance of the game and just not let anyone else in if you want, if that's your thing. It's still a multiplayer game. With a real money auction house, all items and toon information needs to be stored server-side. It's not DRM, and it's not a single player game.
Someone start working on an offline hack for this fucked game.
Hack the client all you want, your toon, the mobs, events, and all the items are still being generated by the server. Nothing you can do about it.

And Urby, random fuckers can't join until you select the "Open game to public" option from the in-game menu.

That being said I'm just about 4-5 hours into it myself, and I can't wait to get home from work and keep playing. Anyone else on the NA servers?

Oh and Urby- a little BF3 support trick. See a medkit on the ground? It needs an ammokit-hug. It's a lonely, and cold medkit. They are all lonely and cold. Make all of them warm and hugged by an ammokit, and you're instantly a half-good support. Spraying bullets around wildly is the other half.

Well, it was branded "Beta". I do stand by my previous suggestion that the last compile be done by Archie. And I didn't have my fps counter on, but I noticed slowdowns and it's hardly and old computer.

Ok, so it sounds like it's not really one big thing but a few little things. That's good! Honestly all of those things sound reasonable, but I want to wait to hear what everyone else thinks.

And yeah CT spawn is the only problem area, and it's not even all the time. But when you stand in the middle, you can see nearly everywhere.

And I did say it was fine! It is fine for me! I'm suggesting that other players, who didn't contribute to this and have as much fun with it as we are are, are definitely going to notice it.

lol. Ok so seriously, can we get serious and talk serious talk about the serious frame rates. Even though it's fine for us, and totally doesn't ruin our fun, when we release this into the sharktank of CS maps, it's going to turn players off. Honestly, we should get a prize for making a small Source engine map that runs worse than 64 player Battlefield 3.

How can we go about this? Duplicating the file and then removing whole sections, one at a time, to see which of the removed sections solves the problem? Then when we find the section, make it our collective mission to fix it while keeping it as true to the original work? I would be fine with my work being reconstructed if it turned out to be the problem, but I don't know if everyone else feels that way. We would really need everyone to be on board before we tried.

Thoughts?

A small, crazed, wayward ultra-conservative militia takes hostage the operators of a porn studio based on moral stances. The city block is evacuated and police approach from the next block over via the sewers in order to save the producers.

Maybe removing black lines on the character would cement them in the black line-less environment? Anyways, neat looking stuff right there! I particularly enjoy the painterly aspects of the background, the trees especially, great work!

<3

Now i don't even mind being edit blocked, Cap't, feel free to move these graphs anywhere. Now that I think of it back in T spawn with the other graffiti makes a bit more sense. That would allow you to cut down on overlays too, if 3 of the vanilla graffs get deleted to make room for each of these, that's 6 less overlays in the area.

A sunny wall is better than a shaded wall, but its by no means required :)

Well I hope you get that figured out, because that's some good looking stuff. The only constructive criticism I could really give would be my pretty common suggestion to make sure the lighting/colors don't get too monotonous in areas, but I can't really do that without seeing how the areas connect and such. Good stuff!

That is indeed a very good idea Archie. I also noticed that I went too close to the border on the mouth one, and you can actually see a little hard edge. As long as we've got time and I don't need to rush then I could fix those. I guess I could do that spray for Scotch when I fix them. Which probably won't be today. I'm not feelin it right now. I'm lazy :(

Also, are there any set sizes that I should be using for overlays, or does Source handle odd dimensions well? I've been making them 512x512 for simplicity's sake.

Since it's only for Portal 2 I don't suppose it's so big a deal. The results will probably all look very similar, very modular, and a skilled mapper in hammer will probably be able to distinguish his maps from these puzzles pretty easily.

Cap't can you do me one favor? can you move boxman down so he starts at the grass, and then shrink him so that he's as tall as the pile of boxes? It will be epic.

I had just assumed you would post it around and list us all as the authors, but now I like the idea of a TeamTWHL account posting them. I never thought of that!

As for a name, that is a better question. What direction do we even go with that?

And Daub, I tagged one of the graffs. My gun half-covers it and it's really small. I didn't want to plaster MY name all over OUR map!

Ok! All im gonna do is add my graffs then do a fast compile, ill do it in a few hours when i get home from work and then i'll re-up.

[edot] oh, and I'll fix those couple of nodrawed faces, although i honestly have no clue how they got there. I'm sure I'd have noticed if my own building was nodraw'd when I compiled to look at it.

I'm doing a fast compile, just so I can screenie the few sprays I placed and put the shots here. There is a reason for this, SO READ IT NOW:

IF I TAGGED YOUR BUILDING, AND YOU DISAGREE WITH YOUR BUILDING BEING TAGGED, SAY SO HERE.

Ok so only 3 buildings that aren't mine got graffs. here they are:

Even if you don't have it in your account, download the proper client, run it, and BOOM!
