in U.S. Army 2030: Things to come Post #267461
Peace on Earth will never happen. You can tell yourself it will someday all you want, but it never will. Not unless some outside intervention came into play.

Researching superior weapons and armor is what will keep us alive. Think about it though, every new weapon leads to a new form of defense, it will go on forever, the human race isn't going to destroy itself through warfare, it will just be locked in warfare for centuries to come.

Also: That gun looks really pathetic, I wouldn't touch that thing even if it shot airsoft pellets.

I like the new system really, it is flawed though. I got one force a nature in 6 hours of play, but valve is fixing it up.

To me the achievements seemed like a temporary way of having a way to give out unlockable items. I suppose I'm the only one who saw this new unlock system coming.

Not sure whether Jarate will be useful, but I have to admire valve's ever present sense of humor.
They will think about Jarate at their weddings - at their high school reunions - witnessing the birth of their first beautiful child - Jarate will haunt their waking moment for the REST OF THEIR LIVES.

Either we could kill off half the people so half could survive, or be a bunch of ethic-ridden weaklings and all die from suffocation.

I'd say draw straws and kill off half of the people.

Oh, and anyone who cries uses up more oxygen, so no mourning your loved ones or you die too.

And if I draw a short straw, then I kill them all.

Looks like it might be a handy add-on for those snipers that like to hang back, where their SMG has no real use.

Would probably be a detriment to snipers using the bow, especially if it does indeed encourage closer combat.

You know whats funny? Printscreen a desktop with its background, and use that as a background. Doing that to someone elses computer when they're not looking gets them confused to shit if they try to move an icon.
No. Its definitely not funny. My brother does that all the time to his desktop, and it makes it look like the computer belongs to a retard.

Horrible thread, but this reminds me of that time a couple years ago when some dude on the site created a second account claiming to be his girlfriend or something and got banned for it. Good times.
I don't think banning him was the right thing to do, I think that writing a news post comparing the IP address of him and his supposed girlfriend, and then let him to try to be taken seriously on TWHL ever again.
You guys don't remember that college chick on here that was going to use Hammer to make a map for some complex psychology project about choices or something?

My dad's a high status poster on the Google webmaster community.

He frequently tells me about countless posts of people whose sites are not doing what they want, because they either use dreamweaver, frontpage, or the like.

Basically, if you want a site that does anything, other than sitting there and existing, then learn to do it right. There's really no other option.

Opfor was epic. No doubt about it.

I liked the connection between Blue-shift and the original half-life in the first bit of the game. The rest of it was third rate. Still worthwhile to buy and play.

I claim my victory, screenshot coming, just gotta FTP it over to webserver.

The glass really doesn't do the ship justice. I think it would look a lot better with a custom, darker glass texture.

I love the wheel thing in the front of the cockpit, definitely the most interesting thing on the ship, and I can't imagine the brushwork that took.

Ok, thanks, I'll try those pointers. (I'm now at the point where I'm done with the exterior geometry and I can work on the cockpit.

The E-wing is part of the expanded universe, IE: books and such, not the movies.

Hopefully tommorow, if time allows, I can get a rough cockpit done and upload some WIP screens.

I've always wanted to make ships/airplanes like that, but I always ran into problems with the player having to crouch and fit into the ship

It almost looks there captain, that the player is sitting! How do you do that?

Anyway, despite being on the verge of collapsing from a cold, I'm going to start on mine. Hope you don't mind captain, but I'm gonna do another star wars ship, I'm thinking an E-wing.

Talked to one of my friends in school today, an avid TF2 fan, he was discussing how the new game mode will probably be a payload race type thing, that he already played through some custom maps. He said it was "pretty gay"

I told him I wanted the new game mode to be hunted. He didn't know what hunted was.

I tore him out of the Halo universe and dropped him in the Half-life one too late! He never played TFC!

Watch, the new gamemode will be this retarded payload race. Someone please go slap someone at valve on the head.

Agreed, I don't think its just that video game -> movies are bad, its just that video games are difficult to translate into a movie that properly represents the story in the video game.

Also, what would they do about the fact that Gordon never talks?

Then again, if I was making a Half-life movie, I would just forget about trying to have Gordon, I would just follow some other characters in the Half-life universe, kinda like this fan movie.

Yeah.

Although, a Half-life movie, if made well, would be extremely interesting. Of course, I doubt anyone could make a movie that would satisfy those requirements.

abracadabra3. I think I already have a lot of you on my list.
I don't bother with things like this. I just don't like the game. Left 4 Dead makes me think about "i speakz englishz corectly lol omg !".

And I'm not talking like I've never played it, I played the demo as soon as it got available. From my point of view, it's just BrainBread on source. With a little more eye-candy. Nothing original, really.
That upper paragraph didn't make sense.

Demo has nothing on the full game, its your loss if you don't buy it.
If that game isn't original, at least, it's a rare type of game.

And reffering to me tastes. I'm not fixed on a single type of game. I like most of them, but they have to be...good.
I'm usually playing Grid, OpenTTD, Garry's Mod.When I'm bored of these I sometimes play counter-strike, hl2dm.
And there are games that I play once or twice only, until I complete them. Games like GTA4, San Andreas, The Incredible Machines, Crazy Machines2 , NFS Carbon is, I think, the only NFS that I liked and completed,Flatout2,I played Spore until the Space era but then I got bored ..... ,

And games from my memories that, when I'm nostalgic, I reinstall them and play again for a few minutes. Games like DukeNukem(now with HD textures grin - :D) , strategy games (when I was young I used to play only strategy games) like Starcraft, Caesar3(I don't know why but C4 kinda sucks), AoE2, Stronghold, I played Dune2 if I remember correctly, Ra95, Simcity2000\3000, HEROES2 ,warcraft3etc...

As you can see, I like most type of games. With the exception of mmorpg and rpg games. Andd certain third-person shooters ( not Tomb Raider2 , thtat I liked) .

And I have soooo many games left to try. I want to try Crysis , Fallout, Dead Space, Far Cry, so many games ....
I don't believe I have a bad taste of games(maybe I should add some condiments ? grin - :D ) because I'm just not a.... "professional" gamer smile - :) .
TL;DR

I just had the most fucking epic 2 matches of versus ever.

One no mercy, the other team didn't finish any of the levels.

Second, blood harvest, their team wound up with 217 points at the end, we had 8000 something.

Rotator, Gunter, and Trapt (for the first match) can confirm this story of absolute pwnage.
